Old Li noticed that Wang Niu was not taking his words seriously, so he immediately reached out and gave Wang Niu a heavy knock on the head. "Did you not hear what I just said?"
Wang Niu endured the pain in his head and replied, "Master Li, I did hear you. I was just surprised by what you said, which is why I looked this way."
Seeing that Wang Niu's expression softened a bit, Old Li pointed at the dark spot in Wang Niu's palm. "Do you know that you need to get rid of that thing quickly? If that black spot seeps into your body, it will be bad news. You'll end up like an empty shell, controlled like a puppet."
After hearing Old Li's words, Wang Niu felt a twinge of fear but was also very hesitant, unsure of what to do. Old Li observed his expression and directly took his hand. "Come with me; I'll help you get rid of this thing."
Wang Niu was momentarily stunned but followed Old Li to a location.
Once they arrived, he realized Old Li had brought him to a graveyard.
Since it was daytime, Wang Niu wasn't overly scared, but he still felt a bit uneasy. He looked around; everything seemed gloomy, as if something terrifying loomed over them.
"Master Li, should we leave?" After all, it would soon be dark.
If night fell, who knew what might happen here?
Old Li shook his head firmly. "No, if we leave now, your life could be at stake. We must deal with this tonight."
Old Li's strong attitude left Wang Niu feeling helpless yet grateful for his concern. His mind became conflicted as he wondered why Ling Er had given him that note.
If Ling Er meant well for him, then why had she unwittingly placed the Ghost Contract on him?
While Wang Niu was lost in thought, Old Li walked toward a grave. "What are you still standing there for? Hurry up and come over!"
Wang Niu snapped back to reality and quickly followed behind Old Li. Once he approached, Old Li's expression relaxed slightly. "Don't fall behind; if anything happens here, it could be troublesome."
Hearing Old Li's words made Wang Niu's heart race, and he jumped in surprise.
"Master Li, what does this mean?"
Old Li looked at Wang Niu, a slight smile curling at the corners of his mouth as he said, "It's nothing serious, just keep up with me."
After that, Old Li fell silent and continued walking ahead. They ventured deeper into the area, and soon the number of tombs around them increased, casting a gloomy atmosphere.
Wang Niu felt a shiver run down his spine, becoming even more cautious. However, he faced a dilemma; with so many tombs surrounding him, he didn't know how to proceed.
Suddenly, Old Li turned around and spoke to him in a serious tone. "I need to tell you something very important. You must not step on these tombs, understand?"
Wang Niu was taken aback for a moment but nodded in response. "Got it."
Old Li resumed his pace, while Wang Niu's heart grew heavier. For some reason, he had an unsettling feeling that something bad was about to happen.
Just then, as he tried to move forward, his feet unexpectedly slipped, and he stumbled forward. A jolt of panic surged through Wang Niu—was he about to fall onto a tomb?
Before he could react, he landed directly on top of a tombstone, causing it to topple over.
Old Li hadn't gone far. Upon hearing the commotion, he quickly rushed back and was startled to see Wang Niu sprawled across the tomb.
"My goodness! Why didn't you listen to me?" Old Li exclaimed as he hurried over and pulled Wang Niu up. "You've gotten yourself into trouble!"
Wang Niu already felt uneasy, and hearing Old Li's words only deepened his anxiety.
"Master Old Li, what should I do now?"
"Well, what else can we do? First, let's deal with the mess you've made," Old Li shot him a glare before stepping inside.
Wang Niu felt wronged as he followed Old Li to a peculiar location.
This place was strange; although it was still a graveyard, this area felt particularly desolate compared to the others they had passed through. Here stood only one tomb, which looked remarkably different—almost like the resting place of an ancient wealthy person.
Wang Niu's gaze fell upon the tombstone, where several large characters were inscribed: "Consort."
"Master Li, what are we doing here?" he asked curiously.
Master Li remained silent, walking around the cemetery with an eerie demeanor. Wang Niu was taken aback for a moment, but after a while, Master Li spoke up and walked over to him. "Come here."
Wang Niu looked at him in confusion. "What's wrong, Master Li?"
"You need to bow a few times to this tomb."
Wang Niu felt puzzled and wanted to ask Master Li more questions, but when he saw the stern look in Master Li's eyes, he hesitated and kept quiet.
He followed Master Li's instructions and bowed. After finishing, he suddenly felt all his strength drain away, leaving him unable to even stand up. Wang Niu could only sit on the ground.
It seemed that Master Li anticipated this reaction. His expression turned particularly calm as he approached the tomb and bowed before it as well. Then, he pried open the tomb.
Wang Niu stared at Master Li in astonishment. "Master Li, is this really okay?"
Master Li shot him a glare that seemed to say he was being overly concerned, so Wang Niu had no choice but to keep his mouth shut.
After a while, a hole appeared in the tomb, which puzzled Wang Niu. "Master Li, what’s going on?"
Upon hearing his question, Master Li turned to him and said, "You will go inside shortly and find a woman's coffin. Open it and suck out her last breath. Once you're done, come straight back out. Understand?"
Master Li's gaze was particularly serious; he didn't look like he was joking at all. Wang Niu nodded but felt a tremor of fear inside him. He had nearly lost his life during the last incident.
"Why aren't you going in yet?" Master Li's tone was angry.
"I'll go down right now."
Wang Niu hurriedly descended into the tomb. As he stepped inside, he sensed a strange aura approaching him but it never entered his body.
Furrowing his brow, he continued deeper into the tomb. However, halfway through, the lights in the cemetery suddenly dimmed without warning. He was startled and froze on the second floor—should he keep going?
After a moment of hesitation, an odd sound came from ahead, as if something was approaching him. He froze again, instinctively thinking that something bad was coming. Just as he was about to turn and run, he realized he couldn't move at all.
Wang Niu felt a surge of anxiety as the voice grew closer, his heart racing. Suddenly, he noticed what seemed to be a woman's foot appearing before him.
His heart skipped a beat, and just then, the surroundings brightened. He was startled to see that everything had become clearer, yet he found nothing there. Where was the voice he had just heard?
Something felt off. Despite the brightness around him, Wang Niu's heart remained uneasy.
After hesitating for a moment, he resolved to move forward. After all, Old Li was waiting for him above. If he failed to complete the task Old Li had assigned him, he would surely face a harsh reprimand.
Thus, Wang Niu continued onward. With each step he took, a sound of footsteps echoed behind him.
This made Wang Niu stop in his tracks.
Instinctively, he turned around to look, but there was nothing there. Confusion washed over him—where had those footsteps come from?
He pressed on and soon found himself surrounded by numerous coffins.
In an instant, he froze. Which of these coffins belonged to the woman?
At that moment, he noticed something peculiar. In the center of the array of coffins stood one that looked particularly unique and distinct. He hurried over to it, biting his lip in determination as he prepared to investigate further.
