A sudden thunderclap struck a great mountain, within which lay a small hidden village.
“Oh my God, if this woman doesn’t give birth soon, she could die. That would be two lives lost!” the midwife exclaimed in terror to the person beside her.
The person next to her was also witnessing such a situation for the first time, astonished that someone could be in labor for an entire day without delivering the baby.
“What are we going to do?” the person asked anxiously.
“Everyone, please don’t panic. I’ll try again,” the midwife said as she prepared to assist the pregnant woman. Suddenly, the woman’s belly glowed briefly, revealing a patch of red that looked like a searing hot iron plate.
This sight terrified many onlookers.
“Oh my God, what is that? It’s so frightening!” People around them instinctively stepped back a few paces.
Though the midwife felt a surge of panic inside, she maintained her composure on the outside. She swallowed hard and took a deep breath, addressing the crowd, “Everyone, don’t be afraid. This might be a normal reaction.”
In truth, those surrounding her were well aware that this was not a normal reaction at all.
At that moment, the pregnant woman suddenly screamed out in intense agony.
“Quick! Someone help hold her down! If she bites off her own tongue from the pain, it will be disastrous!” the midwife urged everyone.
Seeing the pregnant woman's distress only heightened their fear; they were at a loss for how to help, let alone approach her to restrain her.
Noticing that no one was moving, the midwife grew increasingly anxious and called out to them, “Come on, you all need to help!”
The midwife, while controlling the situation, shouted at the onlookers.
Upon hearing her words, the crowd did not take action; instead, they began to disperse.
The midwife was nearly driven to her wits' end by their behavior. At that moment, the pregnant woman summoned an unexpected surge of strength and pushed the midwife away.
The midwife fell to the ground, and just then, the pregnant woman's belly swelled to an enormous size, as if it were about to burst. The midwife's eyes widened in horror; this scene was beyond her comprehension.
How could such a bizarre sight occur? It felt as if they were encountering something supernatural.
With a terrified scream, the midwife fled in panic.
Meanwhile, the pregnant woman grew increasingly weak, her face devoid of color. Suddenly, her belly erupted.
"Ah!" The pregnant woman's anguished cry echoed throughout the mountains.
Everyone in the village heard that sound but dared not approach the woman's house. They feared encountering some terrifying creature.
Whispers spread that a dreadful monster resided within the pregnant woman's belly.
As these words circulated, fear gripped the villagers even more. Just then, a series of ominous lights burst forth from the woman's home.
A child's wail resonated through the mountains.
"Oh my God! A Demon Child has been born! What are we going to do? Our village is surely doomed to suffer a calamity!"
"Ah, let's hurry and call the Master to deal with this Demon Child!"
Before long, someone brought the Master over, but before he could even approach the birthing woman's home, he collapsed dead in front of the villagers.
Seeing this, the villagers' faces turned pale with fear. Terrified that they might meet the same fate as the Master, they quickly packed their belongings and fled the area.
In an instant, the village became a Dead Village.
Inside the midwife's home, chaos reigned. Blood covered the floor, and a foul stench filled the air, accompanied by the cries of a child.
Days passed, and the child continued to cry, growing weaker from hunger as there was no food to eat.
At that moment, a figure appeared in the village.
This person had a rugged appearance and a large belly; he was a Drunken Monk.
Upon hearing the child's cries, he paused and walked into the birthing woman's home. Seeing the scene before him, he shook his head. Just as he was about to leave, another wail from the child stopped him in his tracks.
The Drunken Monk's gaze fell upon the child. The once calm Eyeball now showed signs of disturbance. He strode forward and picked up the child, speaking uncertainly to himself, "How could this be? Your reincarnation is supposed to be that of a favored one; it shouldn't be like this. If you are indeed favored, then why do you look like this?"
The Drunken Monk stared at the child for a while, lost in thought. After some time, he took the child and left the village.
In the blink of an eye, the child grew up.
"Wang Niu, what are you doing?" A middle-aged man approached Wang Niu and slapped him across the face.
"Ah, Uncle Chen, it hurts!" Wang Niu exclaimed, his face contorted in pain as he clutched his cheek, pouting in grievance.
This had happened many times; Uncle Chen always hit him like this.
"You know it hurts now," Uncle Chen said expressionlessly.
"I'm sorry, Uncle Chen. I promise I won't fall asleep while watching the store again," Wang Niu pleaded.
"Hmph, I'll let you off this time. I'm going on a trip, but you must remember to take care of things. Do you understand that the items on that shelf cannot be sold to customers?" Uncle Chen said sternly to Wang Niu.
Wang Niu was taken aback, not understanding why they couldn't be sold. Hadn't they sold some to customers just yesterday?
Seeing Wang Niu's dazed expression, Uncle Chen immediately gave him a light smack on the head.
"Ah, Uncle Chen, that hurts! I understand now," Wang Niu said quickly.
Uncle Chen glared at him. "You must remember, if you sell them to customers, it will cause trouble. Do you understand?"
Wang Niu nodded earnestly. Satisfied with his response, Uncle Chen left.
Wang Niu watched Uncle Chen's departing figure, feeling quite frustrated.
