"You dare to use Heavenly Emperor's Light?" A hint of surprise flickered in the woman's eyes.
Seeing this, Feng Ju immediately unleashed a powerful attack aimed directly at her.
The strike hit her squarely in the chest, and she let out a mournful cry, blood spilling more from the corner of her mouth.
I approached her, crouching down to lift her chin. "Since you have come to the mortal realm, you must abide by its rules, not act recklessly."
The woman looked at me, and I caught a flash of hatred in her gaze.
"Hmph, you despicable man! If it weren't for your sneak attack and your unauthorized use of Heavenly Emperor's Light, I wouldn't have ended up like this," she spat through gritted teeth.
I remained silent, and seeing my lack of response, she continued, "Are you brave enough to face me in a fair duel?"
Ruoxi quickly interjected, "Wang Jun, don't believe her words."
I smiled gently at Ruoxi and replied, "It's fine. Since she wants to challenge me, I will accept. Don't worry."
With that, I stood up and infused the woman with a bit of celestial energy. She quickly regained her composure and stood up, a sinister expression crossing her face as a slight smirk appeared at the corners of her mouth—she seemed to already envision victory.
I glanced at her before turning back to Feng Ju and Ruoxi. "You two should step back; otherwise, I might hurt you."
Ruoxi had more to say but took a few steps back instead. Feng Ju followed suit behind her. I turned my attention back to the woman.
"Let’s begin. This time, I will make you submit willingly," I said to her.
She sneered coldly. "You are quite arrogant. Do you even know that even Ruoxi is no match for me?"
I didn't respond but instead turned away from her. She watched me intently, her expression filled with calculation as my peripheral vision caught sight of her feet—she was unaware of my observation.
Suddenly, a gust of wind swept around me, and Ruoxi's anxious voice reached my ears. "Wang Jun, be careful! There's poison in this wind!"
As soon as Ruoxi finished speaking, I felt a wave of weakness wash over me. My heart sank; could it be the poison she mentioned?
Before long, I found myself kneeling on the ground. Ruoxi and Feng Ju were startled and rushed towards me, only to be blocked by a woman.
The woman looked at Ruoxi and Feng Ju with a cold smile. "You really are naive, thinking you can save him. Heh heh."
Just as her words fell, tendrils of dark energy wrapped around me, making it hard for me to breathe.
The woman's smile widened. "You're dead for sure."
She slowly approached me, and my expression grew increasingly pained. However, the woman seemed oblivious to it.
Just as she was about to strike, I sprang to my feet and unleashed my celestial powers.
Before her stood a rising cloud of white smoke, which quickly transformed into binding celestial ropes that ensnared the woman.
She froze in shock, her face filled with terror. "This... this is impossible!"
I stood up, the pain on my face vanished, and I slowly walked toward her. "Looks like you've lost."
The woman gritted her teeth and spat at me, "Do you know that man killed my sister? I will avenge her!"
As she spoke, dark mist began to swirl around her. Ruoxi's expression turned urgent as she shouted at me, "Wang Jun, be careful!"
I glanced at Ruoxi and gave her a reassuring look.
The black mist suddenly surrounded me, but I wasn't worried. Just as the mist was about to attack, it vanished without a trace.
The woman's face turned pale as if she had seen a ghost. She looked at me and said, "How is this possible? My witchcraft should have worked!"
I smiled at her panicked expression and replied, "Have you forgotten who I am?"
Her face changed as if she understood something. She shook her head and said, "No, no way! I don't believe it!"
As she spoke, the sky suddenly changed. A black line appeared in the heavens, growing larger until it formed a black hole.
The woman seemed to realize what was happening, her expression of terror deepening. She shook her head repeatedly, mumbling "no" under her breath.
The black hole in the sky expanded further, crackling with invisible lightning.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck down, hitting the woman squarely on the head and splitting her in half.
Ruoxi jumped in shock and screamed.
In less than a moment, the woman's body disappeared.
I walked over and held Ruoxi in my arms, reassuring her, "Don't be afraid. I'm here."
Feng Ju glanced at the spot where the woman had vanished and approached me. "Wang Jun," she said, "now that the woman is dead, does this mean it's all over?"
Just as I was about to respond, I noticed that the man who had been with us was gone.
We felt a shiver run through us and hurried to where he had been staying. When we arrived, we found that all the servants in his residence were dead, blood splattered everywhere.
I seemed to understand something, so I walked down to the basement. The man had already turned into a corpse, lying next to the woman.
Ruoxi's expression became complicated. I moved and said, "Wang Jun, let's go. This is that man's fate."
I looked at Ruoxi, who nodded, and we left together, returning to the Heavenly Palace.
Ruoxi supported me as we arrived at the sleeping quarters.
"Wang Jun, do you blame me?" Ruoxi asked cautiously.
I shook my head at Ruoxi and said, "I won't blame you. Don't worry."
Ruoxi smiled and took my hand, placing it on her belly. "Wang Jun, do you feel anything?"
I was taken aback, not quite understanding what Ruoxi meant. "What is this?"
Ruoxi smiled helplessly and said, "Wang Jun, don't you feel anything at all?"
Her words made me pause for a moment. Suddenly, I felt a strange sensation in my hand. I was instantly surprised and looked at Ruoxi's belly. Could it be that Ruoxi was pregnant?
"Is this... really happening?" I asked Ruoxi uncertainly.
Ruoxi nodded, a smile on her face. "Yes, it's true. Wang Jun, are you happy?"
For a moment, my mind went blank; I didn't even know how to express the emotions inside me.
"Wang Jun, what's wrong with you?" Ruoxi asked curiously.
I shook my head at Ruoxi, assuring her that everything was fine, then turned my gaze back to her belly. Suddenly, it struck me as quite miraculous—I was going to be a father.
"Wang Jun, do you not like this child?" Ruoxi looked at me, her expression tinged with disappointment.
I shook my head again and said, "No, I like this child. It's just that I'm not quite sure how to express it."
Only then did Ruoxi seem to understand. She let out a sigh of relief and said to me, "I thought you didn't want this child. Wang Jun, why don't you give the baby a name?"
I looked at Ruoxi's belly once more and placed my hand on it. After a moment of thought, I said, "Let's call him Wang Chen."
Ruoxi murmured the name softly, as if contemplating it, then replied, "Yes, we'll go with Wang Jun's choice."
As the days passed, Ruoxi's belly grew larger and larger.
Xiaomei heard the news and came from the Underworld to the heavens.
"Wow, that's wonderful! Now my child will have a companion!" Xiaomei exclaimed joyfully.
Ruoxi smiled at her and said, "It's still early. Look at your child; he's already so big while mine has only just begun to grow."
Xiaomei waved her hand dismissively and replied, "Princess, what does that matter? You two are Celestial Beings; this child will grow up in the blink of an eye!"
After hearing Xiaomei's words, Ruoxi chuckled and said, "This is hardly a matter of blinking."
Seeing Xiaomei and Ruoxi so happy together, I spoke up, "Well, now you both have something in common to talk about. I'm going to find Feng Ju; we still have matters to discuss."
Xiaomei paused for a moment and said, "What could you two possibly have to discuss? Isn't it just the business of two big men?"
I couldn't help but laugh out loud. At that moment, Taishang Laojun hurried over to me and said, "Heavenly Emperor, it's bad news, something has happened."
Hearing Taishang Laojun's words, I couldn't help but roll my eyes at him. "What now?"
Taishang Laojun looked quite helpless as he replied, "Heavenly Emperor, there's nothing I can do about it; it's not something I can control."
"Just tell me what it is," I urged.
Upon hearing my insistence, Taishang Laojun remembered and said, "Heavenly Emperor, it’s like this: I don’t know if you’re aware, but the Starry Formation has shown signs of an anomaly."
I paused for a moment, processing the mention of the Starry Formation.
Noticing the expression on my face, Taishang Laojun continued, "Heavenly Emperor, the Starry Formation is extremely important to us Masters. If there are changes in the Starry Formation, it means that there will be a change in leadership in the heavens."
My expression froze for a moment as I looked at Taishang Laojun in disbelief. If there were a change in leadership, chaos would surely ensue across the three realms.
"What’s going on?" I asked Taishang Laojun in confusion. If there were any disturbances in the three realms, how could I, as the Heavenly Emperor, not be aware of them?
"Well, I'm not entirely sure. It seems that an Evil Star has appeared."
Upon hearing this, I thought to myself: could it be that some reincarnation has emerged?
Taishang Laojun then followed my lead as I processed this information. My expression grew even more astonished.
"Is there no way to resolve this?"
After hearing my question, Taishang Laojun replied, "There is a way—unless the Heavenly Emperor reincarnates into the mortal realm and experiences life as a human to find this Evil Star."
I furrowed my brow; I had a rough idea of what Taishang Laojun meant.
After thinking for a moment, I asked Taishang Laojun to step back, and then I walked towards Ruoxi.
Seeing the joyful expression on Ruoxi's face made me feel a bit reluctant. After pondering for a while, I said to her, "Ruoxi, there's something I need to confess to you."
As Ruoxi looked at me, her smile faded a little. I could tell she probably guessed what I was about to say.
"Wang Jun, are you really planning to go?" Ruoxi asked, her face showing a look of sadness. I nodded and confirmed with a simple "yes."
Tears streamed down Ruoxi's face instantly, and it felt like a sharp pain pierced my heart.
"Ruoxi, please don't cry. It hurts me to see you like this," I quickly moved in front of her and reached out to wipe away the tears on her face.
"Wang Jun, can you let someone else handle it?" Ruoxi's eyes were filled with pleading.
"I wish I could stay by your side, but this matter is of great importance, and I have to go. You know, deep down, I really don’t want to leave you."
Upon hearing my words, Ruoxi sighed and reluctantly agreed.
Her expression made me feel even more guilty inside.
After that, I left the place and arrived at the Reincarnation Garden.
This was the place of reincarnation. As I looked at the white cranes surrounding me, my heart felt heavy with sorrow.
