After a long wait, Flower Spirit finally returned.
“How is it?”
Flower Spirit looked at me with a serious expression and said, “Heavenly Emperor, Flower Mother still hasn’t let go of her suspicions about us. I just followed her to the back courtyard and overheard her talking to Serene about us.”
I became intrigued by Xiaomei's words. “Really? What did she say?”
“Flower Mother told Serene that she plans to test us again tomorrow.”
Upon hearing this, an uneasy feeling crept into my heart, but soon it faded away. After all, I am the Heavenly Emperor. What do I have to fear from a few small snakes?
“It’s fine. Before they can test us, we’ll take care of them,” I said to Flower Spirit.
The next morning, as Flower Spirit and I descended the stairs, I noticed something was off in the Red Lotus Pavilion.
“This doesn’t feel right. Why is there no one here?”
“It is a bit strange. I’m afraid the test has already begun.”
Just as I finished speaking, a thick white smoke began to fill the area.
“Heavenly Emperor, this is poison gas!” Flower Spirit’s voice was urgent.
I immediately warned Flower Spirit, “Whatever you do, don’t use any celestial techniques; it will expose us.”
After hearing my words, Flower Spirit nodded and agreed. We both collapsed onto the ground. After a while, Flower Mother and White Butler appeared.
“Flower Mother, see? I told you they are nothing,” White Butler said helplessly as he looked at Flower Mother.
“But I still feel something is off. They can use celestial techniques, so why aren’t they?” Flower Mother continued to regard us with suspicion.
"Flower Mother, hurry and wake them up. They may not be immortals, but I believe they are wealthy and powerful individuals. If you cause any trouble for them, we will be in big trouble," I urged.
Upon hearing this, Flower Mother removed the poison from our bodies, and soon after, both Flower Spirit and I regained consciousness.
"What happened?" I feigned a look of pain.
White Butler and Flower Mother paused for a moment, their faces displaying a complex expression as they looked at us. They exchanged awkward smiles. "It's nothing. We were disinfecting the backyard and didn't expect to knock you gentlemen out."
"I see. However, we need to go out today, and I hope White Butler can accompany us," I said, glancing at White Butler.
White Butler was taken aback for a moment. "Sure."
Flower Mother looked at White Butler with concern, her lips moving as if she was worried about him. White Butler gave her a reassuring look.
"Let's go, White Butler."
With that, I stepped out of Red Lotus Pavilion, where the prepared Palanquin was waiting for us outside.
"White Butler, you should come inside too."
Without hesitation, White Butler climbed into the Palanquin. We left the area and arrived at the outskirts.
Flower Spirit and I dropped our pretense and exchanged sly smiles with White Butler. Upon seeing our actions, White Butler was momentarily stunned, clearly feeling startled by us.
"What do you mean by this, gentlemen?" White Butler seemed to have caught on to something.
"Don't you understand?"
As soon as I spoke, the Palanquin transformed into an illusion.
We found ourselves enveloped in a black void.
"This place is dangerous," the White Butler panicked.
I took a step back with the Flower Spirit and said, "This is a place that could cost you your life, Serene."
"You... you two..." The White Butler's face turned pale.
"We know everything we need to know."
Upon hearing this, the White Butler immediately revealed his true form and launched an attack at us.
I wasn't worried; I had set up this formation. As soon as the White Butler made any move, the formation would automatically drain his cultivation.
"Ah!" The White Butler collapsed to the ground, his body convulsing uncontrollably.
In less than a moment, the White Butler's form began to shrink.
At that moment, the illusion suddenly trembled violently.
"Heavenly Emperor, what's happening?"
I furrowed my brow and said to the Flower Spirit, "Someone must be attacking this illusion from outside. Keep an eye on him while I go check it out."
After saying that, I flew out of the illusion.
"Flower Mother!"
The one attacking the illusion was indeed Flower Mother.
"I knew you weren't ordinary people. Release my Godson immediately," Flower Mother demanded.
"And what if I refuse?" I replied calmly, looking at Flower Mother.
"Then don't blame me for being rude," said the Flower Mother as she attacked me.
I swiftly countered, striking the Flower Mother against a tree, and she let out a piercing scream.
As soon as she fell, she transformed back into her original form, the one I had seen earlier with the Flower Spirit.
Suddenly, I felt a gust of wind pressing down on me from above, startling me. Before I could react, the Flower Mother's tail struck down suddenly, swallowing me into her belly.
I wasn't afraid. I found myself at the Flower Mother's vital spot, just in time to see her Snake Gallbladder. A cold smile crept onto my lips as I prepared to strike it when I suddenly heard a trickling sound. My heart raced; it was likely Venom. I quickly drew a Protective Circle.
In no time, the Venom surged toward me. Thanks to the protective shield, it posed no threat.
"Hah, I can't kill you," the Flower Mother's voice echoed in.
Once the Venom passed, I retracted the shield and charged straight for the Flower Mother's Snake Gallbladder. In an instant, she began to tremble violently, and then there was an explosion from within her body.
"Ah!" the Flower Mother cried out in agony.
Seizing the moment, I tore through her belly and emerged from her body.
"Hah, weren't you going to kill me? Do you know who I am?" I looked at the Flower Mother in pain and coldly rebuked her.
At that moment, it seemed she realized something. "You... you are..."
"Heavenly Emperor." With that, I transformed back into my Heavenly Emperor form.
"Ah! Heavenly Emperor! I realize my mistake; please forgive me!" The Flower Mother knelt before me.
At this point, she was already quite weakened.
"There is no right or wrong here," I said to the Flower Mother.
"Flower Mother" spoke as if her heart had died, "Then I beg the Heavenly Emperor not to harm Serene."
"Are you joking? Do you know what he has done?"
Tears streamed down "Flower Mother's" face. "I know, but Serene did this for me."
I remained silent, watching "Flower Mother" as she continued, "A few days ago, when I saw Serene, he was just a tiny snake. But Serene was so pitiful that I couldn't bear it and took him in to care for him. I never expected that Serene would be the one the Serpent King wanted to kill. I hid Serene away, thinking it would help him escape the Serpent King's pursuit. But it was futile. When the Serpent King attacked, I acted immediately and killed him. However, I didn’t anticipate that in that moment, the Serpent King would inject his venom into me. Because of this act, my cultivation diminished by more than half. When Serene found out, he sought a way to help me. Later, he learned from an elder that those Flower Fairies could restore half of my cultivation, so he went to capture them. Besides, those Flower Fairies were unharmed."
"And so what? He broke the Heavenly Rules; such things are never allowed in heaven," I said coldly to "Flower Mother."
"Heavenly Emperor, I beg you," "Flower Mother" repeatedly bowed her head to me. At that moment, a disturbance arose in the illusion—a powerful one. A light appeared, and the White Butler fell beside "Flower Mother." "Godmother, what happened to you?"
Although the White Butler was already weak, he was startled to see her collapsed on the ground and hurriedly crawled over to her.
"Godmother, no, it's nothing; as long as you're okay, I'm at ease," "Flower Mother" said with a smile.
Tears streamed down the White Butler's face as he said, "No, I don't want this. Godmother, I'll give you my cultivation."
With that, the White Butler transferred his cultivation to "Flower Mother." Upon seeing this, she immediately expelled the cultivation back from herself and angrily said, "What are you doing? Godmother is already close to death; what use is this cultivation? Keep it for yourself."
