Feng Ju glanced back one last time; the two people nodded at me and followed as we hurried to the next location.
We arrived in front of a rural house.
"Wang Jun, is this the place?" Feng Ju asked, looking around.
I nodded and walked inside. The couple inside looked at me with puzzled expressions as I entered. "What brings you here?" they asked.
My gaze fell on the woman's belly—she was pregnant.
"Do you want your child to be born safely?" I asked them seriously.
They were taken aback by my question. "What do you mean by that?" they replied.
Just then, Feng Ju approached them and said, "If you want your child to be born safely, you must listen to us. You should know there’s a general's temple nearby."
The couple froze for a moment after hearing Feng Ju's words. "What does that have to do with the general's temple? If you don't leave, don't blame me for being rude," the man warned, picking up a stick and preparing to strike us.
Before he could swing it at us, the woman stopped him. "Husband, don’t be unreasonable; they are trying to help us."
"What are you talking about?" The man looked at his wife in confusion.
The woman sighed and closed the door. "Haven't you heard about what’s been happening lately?"
Seeing her complex expression, the man quickly asked what was wrong.
The woman began recounting recent events, and as she spoke, the man's face turned pale. His gaze towards us became even more complicated.
"Can you really save my wife and my child?" The man's eyes still held a hint of doubt.
I nodded at him and said, "Yes, we can."
Seeing our assurance, the man nodded and asked what he should do next.
I walked over to the woman, extending my hand to rest on her belly, channeling a bit of celestial energy into her. Once she was enveloped in this protective aura, her complexion improved significantly.
"Next, what you need to do is leave this place," I told them.
"Leave this place?" the man echoed.
I nodded and explained the plan to them. Shortly after, Feng Ju led them away.
Once they were gone, I transformed into the appearance of a pregnant woman and lay down on the bed. To make it more convincing for the Earth Demon, I deliberately adopted a frail demeanor.
After a while, I suddenly sensed a strange aura approaching the house. Soon enough, I saw a swirl of black mist drifting in through the window. A shiver ran down my spine; the Earth Demon had arrived.
The window creaked ominously as the Earth Demon materialized before me.
"Are you feeling unwell?" the Earth Demon asked me.
As it spoke, I felt that peculiar aura surrounding us.
This energy seemed to carry an enticing quality. Realizing this, I quickly feigned being entranced and replied to the Earth Demon, "Yes."
The Earth Demon looked at my expression and chuckled. "Would you like me to help you?"
"Please, save my child," my voice grew weaker.
The Earth Demon, upon hearing my words, sat down on my bed. "I can save you, but you must agree to one condition."
"Just tell me, as long as you can save my child."
The Earth Demon placed a hand on my belly, and in an instant, I felt a chilling presence as if something was trying to dig its way out of my body.
"Let your child recognize me as their Godmother."
"Okay."
As soon as I uttered those words, a cold sensation spread through my abdomen, as if something was about to emerge.
Then, a ball of light radiated from my belly. When the Earth Demon saw this light, her face turned pale. "What is that?"
"Ah!" As she finished speaking, a beam of holy light shot out from the ball of light, moving so swiftly that it illuminated her face in an instant.
"Earth Demon, you can't escape," I rose from the bed, returning to my original form. When the Earth Demon saw me restored to my true self, she was immediately terrified. "You... how could you..."
Before she could finish her sentence, her face turned ghostly white and she collapsed to the ground.
"Ah!" She let out another scream of agony.
A cold smile crept onto my lips at that moment. Just then, Feng Ju returned. Upon seeing the Earth Demon's state, a glint of murderous intent appeared on his face.
"Earth Demon, you have some nerve to still act so brazenly. Very well, since you continue to offend us, we shall seek justice for the children who died at your hands." With that, two strands of black light appeared in Feng Ju's hands.
Seeing this scene, the Earth Demon’s eyes widened in panic as she shook her head frantically. "No, please don’t!"
Feng Ju showed no mercy, launching two orbs of light directly at the Earth Demon. In an instant, the Earth Demon was knocked to the ground, its cultivation reduced by half.
At this moment, the Earth Demon had little power left to resist.
"Ha, this is your own doing; you have no one to blame but yourself," Feng Ju glared at the Earth Demon.
A chilling wind began to swirl around them.
The Earth Demon seemed to realize something, its expression turning to one of terror. "No, you should go! Don't worry about me, just run!"
"No, I won't leave you behind," came a voice just as I and Feng Ju saw the General appear in front of the Earth Demon, shielding her.
"You can't kill her; everything she did was my doing," the General said solemnly, looking at me and Feng Ju.
"Ha, are you trying to take the blame for the Earth Demon?" Feng Ju regarded the General coolly.
"I'm not taking the blame for her; I ordered her to do all those things. If you want to punish someone, then punish me. She has nothing to do with it." With that, the General transferred all of his cultivation to the Earth Demon.
"No, don't! If you give me all your power, you'll die!" the Earth Demon pleaded desperately.
Feng Ju and I exchanged glances. What were the Earth Demon and the General trying to do? Did they think they could escape punishment? That was impossible; both were guilty.
"Enough! Stop talking. What's the rush? I'll make sure you both die together soon enough," Feng Ju said impatiently, eyeing the two of them.
Upon hearing Feng Ju's words, the General shook his head vigorously. "No, please don’t!"
Suddenly, the General stood up and charged at me and Feng Ju. We didn’t move; right now, he was like a useless puppet—there was no way he could subdue us.
Before he could reach us, his body was forcefully repelled back.
"Ah!" The General was slammed against the wall by our overwhelming aura.
"General, are you okay?" Earth Demon hurriedly crawled over, transferring her energy back to the General.
"You... you don't need to give me your energy anymore. Keep it for yourself, please," the General said, blood seeping from the corners of his mouth, already on the brink of death.
"No! You can't die!" At that moment, the General's body began to fade, becoming increasingly transparent.
Seeing this, Earth Demon became extremely agitated. "Why? Why are you treating him like this?"
Feng Ju and I watched Earth Demon’s distress with indifference.
This was the retribution they deserved; they had no one to blame but themselves.
"You are truly cruel! He was a good General!" Earth Demon glared at us fiercely as the General in her arms vanished.
"You're calling us cruel?" Feng Ju laughed as if she had heard something amusing.
"Isn't it true? Do you even know what the General did for those people?" Earth Demon shouted at us.
"No matter what he did, in the end, he harmed many innocent lives. You should blame yourself," I replied calmly.
Upon hearing my words, Earth Demon burst into laughter.
"Wang Jun, why are you still talking to her? Just take action."
"Heh, no need for you to act," Earth Demon suddenly regained her calm demeanor and stood up, appearing almost deranged. She spun around, and in an instant, her body exploded.
Feng Ju and I stepped back slightly as a mass of swampy mud was left on the ground.
"Wang Jun, is this Earth Demon dead?" Feng Ju asked me.
I nodded; the matter with Earth Demon was resolved.
Just before we left, a man and a woman returned.
"Thank you," the man said gratefully to us.
I glanced at the woman's belly; the child inside was very safe thanks to my celestial aura.
"This is what we should do." After saying that, I returned to the Underworld with Feng Ju.
"What do you plan to do about Bai Susu?"
"Naturally, I will handle it according to the normal rules. I will help her clear away those things she hasn't done. Once those duties are removed, she will be innocent and will be excluded from the Evil Spirit rankings, returning to the status of an ordinary ghost. However, to make up for her, I will arrange a position for her," Feng Ju replied.
I nodded; Feng Ju's approach was quite good.
We arrived at Yin Shen Hall.
"Yama, how is it? Has Susu's matter been resolved?" The old woman asked anxiously upon seeing us.
I nodded and said, "The Earth Demon has already been dealt with, but do you remember what we discussed before?"
The old woman paused and nodded. "I know, but I want to be with Susu. It's meaningless for me to be alone in the human realm; it's been too long, and I don't want to wait that long."
Feng Ju glanced at the old woman and said, "I have a win-win solution; do you want to know?"
Upon hearing Feng Ju's words, the old woman's eyes lit up as she hurriedly asked what the solution was.
Feng Ju walked over to Bai Susu and lifted the curse placed upon her. "You should know about the Yin-Yang officials, right?"
Bai Susu was taken aback by Feng Ju's words and replied, "Yama, what do you mean?"
Feng Ju smiled and said, "It's to make you a Yin-Yang official."
"What?" Bai Susu looked at Feng Ju in surprise.
Seeing her astonishment, Feng Ju continued, "This is also a form of compensation for you. Once you become a Yin-Yang official, you'll have the freedom to move between the Yang Realm and the Underworld. Essentially, you'll be a soul reaper. Some people, when they die, are reluctant to return, so you'll need to go to the mortal realm and bring their souls back. Additionally, your mother can assist you; she will act as your helper in the Yang Realm."
