I nodded, recalling what the old woman had told me earlier, and replied to Feng Ju, "It must be that she knows whose child is having a difficult birth."
"Wang Jun, actually, Bai Susu should have died long ago. It's because of the Earth Demon that she has been able to live this long," Feng Ju said.

At that moment, the pregnant woman lying on the bed suddenly cried out loudly in pain. The Earth Demon looked at her with a strange smile on her face. "Do you want me to save your child?"
Upon hearing the Earth Demon's words, the pregnant woman quickly responded, "Yes, please! Hurry and save my child; I don't want him to die!"
"Sure, but I have a condition," the woman said with a cold smile.
The pregnant woman didn't think much of it; all she wanted was to save her child, so she agreed immediately.
"I'll do whatever you say."
Upon hearing this, the woman's smile became even more sinister as she approached the pregnant woman. At that moment, a dark mist enveloped the woman's belly.
"Wang Jun, look! That seems to be her fate. What is she trying to do?" Feng Ju's tone turned urgent.
At that moment, a glimmer of colorful light appeared on the pregnant woman's belly, which was what Feng Ju had just referred to as fate.
I didn't respond to Feng Ju right away; instead, I observed the woman's actions.
After extracting the fate from the pregnant woman's belly, the woman began to write on it. A wisp of yellow aura floated out from the fate. Seeing this, the woman opened her mouth wide and swallowed the yellow aura.

I nodded in agreement. "You're right. This black mist is a form of Earth Demon technique that compels a person to obey their master from birth until they grow up."
At that moment, the woman left the pregnant woman's home, seemingly heading to another location.
"Wang Jun, let's hurry and follow her," Feng Ju urged me.
I nodded and followed Feng Ju as we trailed behind the woman, who walked to a swampy area.
"Is she not going to harm anyone?" Feng Ju paused in confusion.
I looked around and saw that the swamp was extensive; it was clear this was the woman's lair.
Feng Ju and I found a suitable spot to crouch down.
"Wang Jun, what do you think this woman is planning?"
Suddenly, the woman plunged into the swamp, swimming through it as if it were water.
"Look, she seems to be absorbing energy from the swamp," I explained.
"Wait a minute. If she's absorbing energy, why is there a thin layer of white mist appearing above her head? And it's increasing," Feng Ju seemed to have noticed something, his eyes widening.
I glanced over and saw that he was right.
"That seems to be the essence of those children whose life forces were stolen. Feng Ju, we don't need to wait any longer; with this alone, we can subdue her. Since she's on the brink of death, her life force cannot be altered at will," I said.
"Really? Hearing you say that excites me. If that's the case, Wang Jun, let's take action!" With that, Feng Ju leaped out from the shadows and charged at the woman.
At that moment, the woman was at her weakest point in terms of energy.

"You are Yama?" The woman's expression turned astonished upon hearing Feng Ju's words.

The woman suddenly burst into laughter, and in that instant, I sensed something was off. I quickly pulled Feng Ju aside.
In the blink of an eye, the spot we had just been standing in erupted.
Both Feng Ju and I were startled. When we looked back, a cloud of white smoke had formed at the site, and the woman was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did she go?" Feng Ju asked, momentarily stunned and confused.
Just as I was about to respond, I noticed a wisp of black mist emerging from the swamp. However, it vanished almost immediately, disappearing within seconds. I pointed towards the swamp.
"Over there," I said.
Feng Ju's gaze shifted to the swamp.
"Yes, but if we want that Earth Demon to come out, it might take a long time. We’ve probably startled it," I sighed, feeling somewhat helpless.
"That's fine; I refuse to believe that this Earth Demon won't show itself," Feng Ju declared. With that, he set up a barrier around the swamp.
As long as the Earth Demon emerged, we would definitely notice it.
So, Feng Ju and I pretended to leave and flew away.
In reality, that was merely a shadow we had created; our true forms remained hidden in the darkness.
"Look, Wang Jun! The Earth Demon really has come out!" Not long after our shadows departed, a small head popped up from the swamp.
"It seems this Earth Demon is quite cunning," I remarked. Suddenly, an idea struck me.
"Feng Ju, you need to take down that barrier," I instructed him.
Feng Ju hesitated and asked why. I then explained my plan to him.
Upon hearing it, Feng Ju's eyes lit up. "Great idea, Wang Jun! Your plans are always the best!"
I smiled lightly, and Feng Ju withdrew her forbidden door.
The Earth Demon, after peeking out of my mind, did not leave the swamp immediately. Instead, it lingered there for a while. After some time, the Earth Demon finally emerged from the swamp, seemingly heading somewhere.
Naturally, Feng Ju and I followed this Earth Demon. Soon, we saw it fly into a dilapidated temple.
The Earth Demon suddenly glanced back, as if worried about being discovered. Fortunately, both Feng Ju and I were in a state of invisibility, so the Earth Demon did not notice us.
"Could it be that this Earth Demon is secretly meeting its old lover?" Feng Ju said with a puzzled expression.
The Earth Demon walked into the ruined temple, and we followed suit. Inside the temple, there was nothing but a statue standing in the middle. Unfortunately, the statue was already broken.
"This looks like some kind of general," Feng Ju said, staring at the statue.
"A general?" I looked at Feng Ju in confusion.
Feng Ju nodded and said, "Yes, I learned about this while reviewing some documents. I had previously read about this area; back then, it was in a state of war. The people here were suffering greatly. Then, a general appeared and changed the fate of the people. With him around, happiness returned to this place. Later on, the people built a temple to honor this general. At first, they all served him faithfully, but then one day, they stopped."
At this point, Feng Ju deliberately paused, instantly piquing my curiosity.
"What happened?" I asked her in confusion.
"As time went on, this general suddenly changed into a different person and began to oppress the people. Not only that, but he also married a beautiful woman. After she entered the general's household, darkness fell over the land because this woman was a demon and not an ordinary person; she had a taste for human flesh. Many of her maids were devoured by her. When this became known, it reached the general's ears. Everyone demanded that he get rid of this woman. However, the general ignored their pleas and granted all her wishes. From that point on, the people no longer trusted him."
After hearing this, I gazed deeply at the statue before me.
"Look at that," Feng Ju said, pointing at the eyes of the statue.
I turned to look and saw wisps of white mist emerging from its eyes. Upon witnessing this scene, the Earth Demon's face lit up with excitement. "My lord, you have come!"
The mention of the Earth Demon left both Feng Ju and me momentarily stunned.
"My husband..."
This general is the husband of the Earth Demon—what kind of relationship is this?
Feng Ju and I exchanged glances, and suddenly, it felt like a realization struck me. My eyes widened. Could it be that this Earth Demon is the woman from before?

"My Little Ji," the general said upon seeing the Earth Demon, his face lighting up with affection as he embraced her.
"Do you regret the things you’ve done for me?" the Earth Demon asked him.
"I do not regret it. Those things were done willingly for you."
"Thank you, General. Hearing that makes me very happy." The Earth Demon leaned against his shoulder, a look of bliss on her face.
"As long as you're happy," he replied, taking out a silk pouch and handing it to her.
The Earth Demon’s eyes sparkled with excitement at the sight of the pouch. "Did you go get this for me again? Darling, you really are wonderful!"
After saying that, the Earth Demon kissed the general on the cheek.
"Well, didn't you say you liked the fates of those people?" The general's tone was very gentle.
"Yes, but general, if you walk away like this, you might face Divine Retribution. Aren't you afraid?" A hint of complexity appeared on the Earth Demon's face.
The general smiled lightly. "I'm only afraid of you leaving me."
Upon hearing this, the Earth Demon froze for a moment, and a hint of mist appeared in their eyes.
