"You're really going too far, Master. Can't you do something about him?" The little fox said, looking at me.
I shrugged my shoulders, appearing helpless. Seeing this, the little fox simply gave up.
"Alright, tell me what kind of test I need to go through," she said, quickly regaining her indomitable spirit.
Feng Ju became intrigued by the little fox's words and asked her, "Can you manage those Evil Spirits?"
The little fox was confused by Feng Ju's question. Tilting her head, she asked, "What do you mean? I don't quite understand."
Feng Ju glanced at me, and I understood his intention. Then I continued with the little fox's words, "You don't need to know what it means. We're just asking if you want to join us. If you're interested, we might consider making you our little apprentice."
The little fox's eyes lit up as she exclaimed, "Sure! I'm willing; bring it on!"
With that, a look of determination appeared on her face.
Seeing this, I couldn't help but laugh; this little fox truly had no fear of death.
Soon after, we left the Demon Realm and arrived in the Underworld.
Although we had dealt with all the dead in the Demon Realm, we still needed to plan how to handle things step by step.
"What is this place? It looks so eerie," the little fox said as she looked around, appearing frightened.
Feng Ju suddenly leaned closer to the little fox and said to her, "Is that so? If you're scared, you can just go back."
Upon hearing Feng Ju's words, the little fox immediately found her courage. "I-I'm not scared! You can't scare me away!"
"Is that so? Then follow me," Feng Ju said as he led the little fox to the Eighteen Layers of Hell. This place was even more terrifying, filled with the wails of ghosts echoing everywhere.
The little fox trembled in fear. Watching her like this made me chuckle a bit; I felt a bit sorry for her and said, "If you're scared, we can skip it."
The little fox shot me an angry glare as if to say I was meddling in things that didn't concern me.
I felt a bit innocent at her glare; after all, I was just trying to help.
"Little Fox, look, the further down we go, the stronger the Evil Spirits we will face. How far do you think you can get?" Feng Ju said playfully as he watched her.
The Little Fox was startled by Feng Ju's words, feeling a bit at a loss for how to respond.
After a moment, she finally spoke up, "Of course, I want to go down to the eighteenth level. I'm not afraid!"
With that, the Little Fox boldly descended to the eighteenth level. Feng Ju and I were somewhat surprised; we didn't expect this little fox to have such spirit.
"Do you really think the Little Fox can handle those Evil Spirits?" I began to worry.
Feng Ju shook his head and said, "I don't think so, but her courage is commendable."
At that moment, the Little Fox had already made it down to the seventh level. Seeing this, Feng Ju and I quickly quickened our pace to follow her. No matter what, we couldn't let the Little Fox venture alone.
"Little Fox," we called out as we caught up with her.
When the Little Fox saw us arrive, she sighed in relief and said, "I thought you weren't coming!"
Originally, Feng Ju wanted to comfort her, but seeing her so proud, he said instead, "Yeah, you're right. We were planning not to come, but since you looked so pitiful, we decided to show up."
The Little Fox huffed and continued walking ahead.
Feng Ju's eyeball turned slightly, as if he was plotting something.
I felt a bit sorry for the Little Fox.
Suddenly, a wisp of black mist appeared in front of the Little Fox. She was startled by this sudden appearance and turned back to us, saying, "What’s going on? Could it be that the Evil Spirits here are about to come out?"
Seeing her like this made me and Feng Ju stifle our laughter; it was unexpected that this little fox was actually scared.
"Yes, the Evil Spirits here are about to come out. You need to be careful now; we'll leave this to you, Little Fox," Feng Ju teased her.
The Little Fox looked like she might cry; Feng Ju was being too much.
I followed Feng Ju's lead and pushed forward a bit while watching the Little Fox. At that moment, an Evil Spirit in a nearby cell suddenly stirred and began absorbing the black mist floating in mid-air, gradually growing larger.
The Little Fox watched in terror as this unfolded. In no time at all, all of the black mist had been absorbed into the belly of that Evil Spirit.
Suddenly, the eyes of the Evil Spirit turned crimson.
“Oh my god, what is that?” the little fox said with a serious expression.
“Isn't the Evil Spirit impressive?” I asked Feng Ju.
Feng Ju nodded and replied, “It’s something, but for the little fox, this is for her own good. Just think about it—being our apprentice, how could she not be strong?”
I shook my head helplessly. After all, I was an assistant to Feng Ju. If the little fox remained naive and foolish, that wouldn’t do at all.
At that moment, the Evil Spirit suddenly charged forward and crashed through the railing, startling the little fox.
In an instant, the Evil Spirit lunged at the little fox with ferocity. The little fox seemed to lose half her strength against the speed of the Evil Spirit and was caught in its grasp in no time. Feng Ju and I exchanged glances; this little fox was far too weak.
“Should we intervene?” Feng Ju asked me.
I watched as the little fox struggled in the grip of the Evil Spirit and shook my head at Feng Ju. “Let’s hold off for now and see what happens before making a decision.”
Feng Ju nodded in agreement, and we continued to focus on the little fox. The Evil Spirit pinned her down, its mouth wide open as it prepared to bite her neck. Just as it was about to sink its teeth into her, the little fox suddenly transformed into a cloud of white smoke. The Evil Spirit froze for a moment, and by the time it realized what had happened, the little fox had vanished, leaving behind only a single fox tail in front of it.
