A glimmer of cunning flickered in the eyes of the Nine-Tailed Fox.
Feng Ju and I exchanged glances before I addressed the Nine-Tailed Fox, "What do you want?"
Seeing our serious expressions, the Nine-Tailed Fox chuckled and said, "Oh, dear Masters, please don't be angry. When you get angry, it frightens me."
I shot a glance at Feng Ju; if she was truly afraid of us getting angry, she wouldn't have made so many demands.
"Go ahead, tell me what you want," I replied calmly.
The Nine-Tailed Fox smiled shyly at my words and said, "Hehe, actually I don't want much. I just need a bit of your celestial energy. I'm a rather low-level Nine-Tailed Fox, and my demonic aura is too heavy. This is a fatal flaw for me. So, I was hoping to borrow some of your celestial energy to mask my demonic aura. Would you allow it?"
"Sure," I said, directly granting the Nine-Tailed Fox some celestial energy.
The energy rippled around the Nine-Tailed Fox, and upon feeling it envelop her, her eyes sparkled with delight and surprise.
After absorbing the celestial energy, the Nine-Tailed Fox happily declared, "Alright! I can take you to that place now."
With that, she joyfully led the way ahead of us.
I followed her closely while Feng Ju seemed hesitant but eventually trailed behind as well.
Noticing Feng Ju's cautious demeanor, I asked her what was wrong.
Feng Ju glanced at the Nine-Tailed Fox before turning to me and said, "Wang Jun, do you really trust this little fox?"
I paused for a moment, puzzled by her concern. "What's wrong? Are you suspicious of her? There's no need to worry; this little fox is quite low-level. If she dares to deceive us, she knows it would mean her end."
After hearing my words, Feng Ju nodded but didn't say anything further. At that moment, the Nine-Tailed Fox turned back to us with an unhappy expression and said, "Masters, why are you walking so slowly?"
I couldn't help but laugh out loud. This little fox was quite bold; just a few minutes ago, it had been afraid of us, and now it seemed to be starting to express its dissatisfaction.
Feng Ju stepped forward and said to the little fox, "Oh, look at you, little fox, starting to complain about us, aren't you?"
Feng Ju grabbed the little fox by its ear, looking fierce, which really frightened the little creature.
"I-I didn't do anything wrong, Master," the little fox immediately backed down. Seeing its expression made me laugh even more.
Feng Ju rolled his eyes at the little fox and said, "Stop talking nonsense. If you don't want to die, lead the way quickly."
Upon hearing this, the little fox's face showed a look of grievance. "You bad guys only know how to bully me, this little demon."
After hearing her words, Feng Ju couldn't help but roll his eyes dramatically. "Alright, less talk. Just lead the way properly. Who knows, if the master is pleased, he might reward you with some celestial energy."
The little fox's eyes lit up at this. It turned to Feng Ju and asked, "Is that true? Will you really reward me?"
Feng Ju nodded seriously and said, "Yes, who knows, you might even get to be a fairy."
"Wow, that's what you said! I will definitely work hard!" The little fox put on a silly expression.
Watching the little fox like this made me laugh again. It was truly amusing. After Feng Ju's words, the little fox seemed even more motivated as it walked ahead while introducing us to the surroundings.
We followed the little fox to an area filled with mushrooms; however, these mushrooms were quite peculiar—they were all green.
"Little fox, are these mushrooms poisonous?" Feng Ju asked.
The little fox shook its head and replied, "These mushrooms are indeed poisonous for ordinary humans, but for us beings from the demon realm, they are the best nourishment for cultivating our powers."
Feng Ju frowned slightly and then gave the little fox a firm tap on its head. "Are you trying to trick me? If they're that good, why don't you pick some?"
The little fox looked at me with a pained expression and said, "It's not that I don't want to pick it, but I can't. This place has an owner, and if I pick the mushroom, he will definitely notice. If he finds out, my life as a fox will be over. I don't want to lose my life over a single mushroom."
Upon hearing this, Feng Ju and I exchanged knowing glances. Feng Ju stepped forward and picked the mushroom. The little fox was momentarily stunned, then its face turned pale.
"You... how could you pick the mushroom? This is going to cause trouble," the little fox said fearfully.
Feng Ju and I shrugged nonchalantly. After all, the mushroom was already picked, and since the little fox mentioned that mushrooms were a supplement for their kind, we might as well give it to him.
"This is for you," Feng Ju said, handing the mushroom to the little fox.
The little fox looked startled and said, "You mean this is for me?"
"Yes, don’t you want it?" Feng Ju replied, then pretended to take it back.
Seeing this, the little fox quickly grabbed it and stuffed the small mushroom into its mouth with great speed, looking satisfied as it finished eating.
"Wow, this mushroom is really delicious!" the little fox exclaimed with a look of contentment.
Watching the little fox's reaction made both Feng Ju and me laugh. Although the little fox pretended not to want it, its actions were quite honest.
After finishing the mushroom, a faint yellow gas suddenly appeared around the little fox.
Seeing the gas rising, the little fox exclaimed in shock, "Wow, this mushroom's power is so strong!"
"Hehe, do you want to eat more?" Feng Ju continued to tease the little fox.
Upon hearing Feng Ju's words, the little fox's eyes lit up. "Really? Master, are you going to give me more?"
Feng Ju nodded and picked another one for the little fox. Just as he handed it over, suddenly the ground began to tremble as if something was about to emerge.
Feng Ju quickly shot me a glance. I immediately understood and followed him as we turned invisible.
The little fox was startled by the sudden situation, looking completely at a loss. When it saw us disappear, its expression turned to one of sheer terror.
"Master, where did you go?" The little fox seemed on the verge of tears.
Watching this scene, I felt a pang of guilt and turned to Feng Ju. "Have we gone too far?"
Feng Ju looked at me nonchalantly and said, "What are you afraid of? We are protecting the little fox from the shadows. Look around; this place is already quite remote, with no inhabitants from the Demon Realm in sight. It seems large here, and if we go further down, we might reach the place the little fox mentioned. But before we get there, we need to deal with the local tyrant first. Otherwise, we'll have to face it later, and who knows what trouble might arise? I don't want us caught in a pincer attack."
Listening to Feng Ju's words, I pondered thoughtfully. There was indeed some truth in what he said. I nodded in agreement and replied, "Alright, let's do as you say."
As I spoke with Feng Ju, a powerful aura surged toward the little fox; it must be the master it had just mentioned.
The little fox was engulfed by this aura. Seeing this, I discreetly infused a trace of celestial energy into it. This energy shielded the little fox and safely brought it down from that overwhelming presence.
Before long, the aura dissipated.
The little fox landed safely on the ground and exclaimed in astonishment, "Heavenly Emperor, I actually made it down safely! Is this a miracle?"
I couldn't help but laugh at the surprised expression on the little fox's face.
Then a cold voice echoed through the air. "Who are you to dare pluck my mushrooms? And how can a mere little demon possess celestial energy? Who exactly are you?"
As soon as the voice fell, Feng Ju and I saw a large, hideous demon appear.
"You... you're the Monster!" The little fox cried out in fear, backing away rapidly.
"This little fox seems very afraid of him," Feng Ju remarked.
I nodded; perhaps this Monster had something about him that terrified the little fox.
"Hmph! You know I'm the Monster and still dare to steal my treasures? You must be tired of living!" With that, the Monster lunged fiercely at the little fox. Just as it seemed like the little fox would be caught, Feng Ju and I appeared instantly to intercept the Monster's attack.
"Who are you?" The Monster trembled in fear.
"Ha ha, we are indeed here to deal with you," I said expressionlessly.
"Ha, is that so? Don't think I'm afraid of you just because you have an aura," the Monster straightened up, appearing fearless.
I looked at the Monster with a disdainful expression and said, "Ha ha, is that so? Then let me show you my power."
With that, I immediately unleashed a few strands of Gas. In an instant, the Gas transformed into thick ropes that surged toward the Monster, binding it tightly as if enchanted.
"Ah, you bunch of bastards! You stole my mushrooms and still want to harm me!" the Monster struggled in pain.
I suddenly found the Monster's words amusing. Feng Ju looked at me with a puzzled expression. The little fox, seeing the Monster subdued, quickly came to my side and whispered, "Master, you should kill this Monster. It's vicious and has harmed many in the demon realm."
After she spoke, the subdued Monster seemed to hear the little fox's words and its anger intensified. Even though it was bound, its ferocity did not diminish.
"You damned little fox! Don't let me catch you; otherwise, I'll make sure you regret it!"
The little fox trembled at this and looked even more terrified. She turned to me and said, "Master, look at him! Isn't he vicious? Since he's so dangerous, we shouldn't spare him. Hurry up and kill him."
"Alright," I agreed with the little fox. This Monster needed to be dealt with; otherwise, it might harm others.
"You can't kill me! If you do, I'll plunge this land into darkness!" the Monster pleaded desperately.
Upon hearing this, the little fox immediately said to me, "Master, don't listen to him! He doesn't have that kind of power. Just kill him!"
I looked at the little fox helplessly. It was just a matter of killing a monster; why was there so much talk?
The little fox chuckled awkwardly. I then swiftly ended the Monster's life.
"Wow! My goodness, Master! You're amazing! Killing him was too easy!" The little fox's eyes sparkled with envy.
Seeing her so happy made me smile as well. I then gathered all the mushrooms in the area and stored them in a magical pouch.
"This is for you," I handed it to the little fox.
The little fox's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at me and said, "Master, do you mean this thing is for me?"
I nodded; after all, I had no use for it with Feng Ju.
"Wow, Master, you're so nice!" The little fox eagerly took the item from my hand, looking like she was about to jump with joy.
Just then, we unexpectedly noticed that the ground beneath us began to tremble, as if it were a spring bouncing up and down.
"What’s going on?" Feng Ju looked at me.
I shook my head and replied, "It might be because we killed that Monster nearby. But don't worry; for now, I don't sense any immediate danger."
