Xiaomin was startled by the sudden changes around her, taking a while to regain her composure. When she noticed me watching her, she looked a bit embarrassed and said, "Heavenly Emperor, I'm sorry, I just couldn't process what was happening. Where is this place?"
I didn't mind Xiaomin's earlier reaction and replied, "This is the Celestial Assembly, where I discuss important matters."
"Oh my goodness!" Xiaomei exclaimed, clearly astonished.
I couldn't help but chuckle at Xiaomin's expression. It was just a place; why was she so surprised?
"Alright, the reason I brought you here is that I have something important to discuss with you," I said, returning to a serious demeanor.
"Sure, Heavenly Emperor, please go ahead," she responded.
I nodded and began explaining things to Xiaomin. We talked for quite a while in the grand hall.
By the time we finished, it was already evening.
"Heavenly Emperor, rest assured, I will not let you down," Xiaomin said confidently.
"I believe you. Tomorrow, in front of all the celestial beings, I will appoint you as the Judge of Celestials to handle those with ulterior motives among them. If anyone shows disloyalty, you can deal with it directly without needing my consent," I stated.
Xiaomin's expression turned to one of surprise; she seemed unable to believe what she had just heard.
"Heavenly Emperor, you..."
"Yes, that's how it will be. You've worked hard; go rest now. Lime Palace is where you'll be staying from now on. Someone will take you there shortly," I waved my hand, and a Celestial Maiden appeared to escort Xiaomin away.
As I looked around the heavenly realm, an odd feeling suddenly arose within me. What if Ruoxi and I were ordinary people living an ordinary life?
The next day, I kept Xiaomin by my side as the celestial beings gathered around us.
"Heavenly Emperor," Xiaomin seemed a bit nervous.
"It's fine. Just don't speak for a while; I'll handle it," I reassured her.
"Okay."
The celestial beings appeared to understand something, whispering among themselves.
Seeing that most of the attendees had arrived, I decided to announce the matter at hand.
"I believe you all know what I'm about to say," I addressed the celestial beings below.
"Uh, Heavenly Emperor, you..." Fortune Immortal stood up, looking hesitant.
I anticipated what Fortune Immortal was going to say and interrupted, as these old folks had too many concerns.
"Alright, I know what you want to do. I hope you can respect the decision I've made. This matter was not taken lightly; I've thought it through carefully." I stood up and gestured to Xiaomin beside me.
"Xiaomin can do better. Moreover, I know some of the celestial beings standing below seem to have ulterior motives. I've already identified who they are. The reason I haven't called them out is that I want to give them a chance. If they do not repent, then they shouldn't blame me for being unfriendly." My tone carried a strong warning.
As soon as those words left my mouth, the celestial beings erupted in chaos, glancing at one another with suspicion.
I took in the scene before continuing, "I hope everyone can supervise each other. The Three Realms have entered a peaceful phase, and we cannot allow anyone to disrupt it. If any celestial being discovers who it is, please inform me; I will reward you handsomely. There is still one position waiting for all of you. How does everyone feel about the position of Emperor? This Emperor will be the successor to Heavenly Emperor."
As soon as I spoke, a wave of murmurs rose from below. It seemed everyone was quite interested in this position, after all, it came with the immense temptation of standing side by side with the Heavenly Emperor.
After a while, the celestial beings began to express their opinions one by one.
I nodded in satisfaction and seized the moment to make my announcement.
"From now on, Xiaomin will be the Judge of Celestials. The sword in her hand can deal with any celestial who makes mistakes." With that, I bestowed the authority upon Xiaomin.
Once Xiaomin received her power, her celestial aura and Celestial Rank immediately transformed; even her entire demeanor changed. I was pleased with the expression on Xiaomin's face; as long as she maintained this, the old fellows would be satisfied.
"Thank you, Heavenly Emperor," Xiaomin bowed to me.
I acknowledged her with a sound and then spoke about some unrelated matters before concluding the meeting.
After the Celestial Assembly departed, I stayed behind with Xiaomin.
"Did you notice any celestial behaving oddly just now?" I asked her.
In truth, my earlier statement was a test for the celestial beings. Clearly, there were still some among them who harbored ulterior motives, but I had already noted them down in my mind.
These individuals would be dealt with one by one.
"Yes, I've identified five individuals," Xiaomin replied.
I nodded, satisfied with Xiaomin's response, and internally agreed with five points.
"You need to observe these people closely. If you notice anything unusual, eliminate them immediately. Don't worry about the consequences; I will shield you from them, understand?" I said seriously to Xiaomin.
"Understood, Heavenly Emperor. You can rest assured; I will not let your trust down."
"Good."
Suddenly, Azure Grain's voice echoed in the hall. For some reason, seeing Azure Grain made my head ache. Hadn't I been clear enough the other day?
I shot a glance at Xiaomin, who immediately understood. I pretended to rest, closing my eyes and leaning back casually in the dragon throne.
Before Azure Grain could step forward, Xiaomin stopped him.
"Stop! You can't go any further."
Azure Grain was taken aback for a moment before becoming displeased. He said to Xiaomin, "Who do you think you are? You know my Celestial Rank is much higher than yours."
Xiaomin calmly looked at Azure Grain and displayed her own Celestial Rank. Azure Grain's mouth dropped open in shock as he exclaimed, "Impossible! How can your Celestial Rank be higher than mine?"
Xiaomin didn't respond to Azure Grain's words but warned him again.
Unfazed, Azure Grain continued to approach me. Xiaomin immediately drew the sword I had given her.
"How do you have that sword?" Azure Grain was momentarily stunned.
"This was given to me by the Heavenly Emperor. If you keep this up, I won't hold back. The Heavenly Emperor said that if I encounter anyone I find displeasing, I can use this sword to deal with them," Xiaomin said earnestly.
Suddenly, my mouth twitched, and I felt a wave of confusion wash over me. When did I ever say that? Xiaomin is really too cunning.
"You’re lying. The Heavenly Emperor wouldn’t treat me like this."
Xiaomin sneered, "Why wouldn’t he treat you like this? Didn’t you see the Heavenly Emperor is resting? You’re disturbing his peace, which is a grave offense. Besides, the Heavenly Emperor has no interest in you at all."
"You..." Azure Grain shot me a resentful glance but felt helpless.
After that, Azure Grain left, and I finally opened my eyes.
"Heavenly Emperor, I didn’t mean to," Xiaomin immediately turned around with a look of panic on her face.
I couldn’t help but chuckle; where did her earlier boldness go?
"It’s fine, what you said was quite good," I replied with a smile.
Xiaomin blushed, unsure of what to say next.
I then invited Xiaomin to follow me to a certain place and led her to the Village.
"Heavenly Emperor, that’s the future Queen, right?" Xiaomin followed my gaze and asked.
I nodded and said, "Yes, but recently someone has been eyeing her. I don’t want anything to happen to her. I’m not too sure about Taishang Laojun because he has made mistakes before. So, I want you to protect her. It’s also to investigate those who might have ulterior motives against me. Are you willing?"
"Heavenly Emperor, I am willing; this is what I should do."
"Yes, just stay by her side. When Li Jie returns, you will be free," I said.
"Thank you for your trust, Heavenly Emperor."
I acknowledged with a sound and then left.
I arrived at the Dark Abyss, surveying the surroundings to determine who had come here repeatedly.
Suddenly, the ground shook violently, as if the entire Three Realms were experiencing a tremendous upheaval.
I frowned; what was happening?
