I squinted my eyes at Azure Grain, feeling a powerful aura radiating from my entire being.
I did not like being threatened.
"Your Majesty," Azure Grain began to tremble, cold sweat breaking out all over, and her face turned pale.
I looked at Azure Grain calmly, increasing the pressure around me. "Do you know what I dislike the most?"
Azure Grain crouched down, appearing weak as she hugged her head. "Your Majesty, I was wrong. I shouldn't have spoken to you like that."
Upon hearing this, I slowly reined in the pressure emanating from me and said to Azure Grain, "Then tell me directly what happened to Ruoxi."
Azure Grain's expression was troubled, but she had no choice but to speak. Struggling against the pressure I exuded, she said, "Someone wants to kill Miss Ruoxi. In fact, Miss Ruoxi's tribulation is just a conspiracy."
"What did you say?" My pupils dilated in disbelief as I stared at Azure Grain. Could it be that those celestial beings...
Azure Grain forced herself to stand up, glanced around, and sighed. "Actually, this is related to the former Heavenly Court. Because of Your Majesty's actions, all the people from the Former Heavenly Court were destroyed. Therefore, someone has reached out to Your Majesty's side."
A surge of killing intent erupted from my body instantly. These people were truly bold.
"Who is it?" I narrowed my eyes at Azure Grain.
Azure Grain was startled by my demeanor and stammered, "It's Celestial Sage."
"What did you say?" I looked at Azure Grain in shock. However, within seconds, I connected the dots; Celestial Sage was indeed behind Ruoxi's troubles.
"Because Celestial Sage is one of the Former Heavenly Court," Azure Grain explained.
In an instant, a surge of anger welled up inside me. They could come for me, but they absolutely could not touch Ruoxi.
With a wave of my hand, I arrived at Celestial Sage's residence. I needed to have a serious talk with him.
This is the residence of the Celestial Sage, known as the Heavenly Mechanism Palace. As I approached the entrance, I was stopped by two attendants. "Heavenly Emperor, you cannot enter."
Their tone was extremely cold. Although they addressed me as Heavenly Emperor, their words and actions showed no respect for my status. Very well, they were indeed from the Former Heavenly Court.
"Why can't I go in?" I suppressed my anger.
The two attendants were clearly intimidated by my tone. After a moment, one of them spoke up, "Because the Celestial Sage is in meditation. If the Heavenly Emperor enters, it will disturb the Celestial Sage's cultivation."
"Step aside, or I'll kill you both," I said fiercely.
"Heavenly Emperor, you cannot do this; it is not allowed," they replied, seemingly frightened yet still blocking my way.
I revealed a sinister smile and raised my hands, where two orbs of black light appeared.
"Destruction of Immortals Light."
The two attendants displayed expressions of horror. I smirked and said, "Do you think I don't know you are from the Former Heavenly Court?"
As soon as I spoke those words, fear washed over their faces.
"Heavens! Heavenly Emperor, you—" Their faces turned pale as they began to retreat.
Every Heavenly Emperor was not permitted to have anyone from the Former Heavenly Court around; they knew this all too well.
I advanced step by step toward them, swinging the two orbs of Black Light in their direction. They couldn't dodge fast enough to escape my Black Light and were naturally struck by it. In an instant, sparks erupted from their bodies, and within just a few seconds, I watched as they turned to ashes.
I had just dealt with them when Azure Grain appeared before my eyes.
"Heavenly Emperor, how did you kill them?" Azure Grain looked at me with a face full of surprise.
I turned my head lightly. "No Heavenly Emperor is allowed to have anyone from the Former Heavenly Court exist. If you are also from the Former Heavenly Court, I would kill you too, wouldn't I?"
Seeing my cold smile, Azure Grain quickly shook her head in denial.
I turned my body and continued walking into the Heavenly Mechanism Palace. This palace was vast, but compared to my own chambers, it felt much smaller.
I glanced around, trying to locate the Celestial Sage. Azure Grain hurriedly stepped in front of me and said, "Heavenly Emperor, you cannot harm the Celestial Sage; it would be detrimental to you. Since you have just ascended to the throne, if you kill him, those immortals who are close to him will also have grievances against you. They will say that you have just taken the throne and already begun a massacre."
I paused, and Azure Grain thought I had taken her advice to heart. She couldn't help but feel delighted and said, "I knew that the Heavenly Emperor is kind-hearted and would listen to my words."
I let out a few cold laughs and pushed Azure Grain aside. "I have never been kind-hearted towards my enemies. Do you know what crime he has committed?"
Azure Grain shook her head at my angry demeanor. I continued, "I absolutely will not allow anyone to touch my bottom line. Do you know that Ruoxi is my bottom line? You can express your dissatisfaction, but I will not permit anyone to lay a hand on Ruoxi. When Ruoxi returns, this Queen will definitely be hers. If anyone opposes that, well, I will kill them directly."
Hearing my words, Azure Grain was startled and ceased her attempts to stop me. I looked at her and said, "You should leave. This matter has nothing to do with you; there's no need for you to get involved."
I thought Azure Grain would leave, but unexpectedly, as soon as I finished speaking, she remained behind me and followed me closely. Although I felt puzzled inside, I paid no mind to her; if she wanted to follow, so be it.
As I entered the Heavenly Mechanism Palace, it darkened immediately inside. A hint of disdain curled at the corners of my mouth—just a trivial trick.
"Heavenly Emperor, be careful; it seems to be the Heavenly Mechanism Formation," Azure Grain stepped forward and grasped me tightly.
I glanced at her and said, "You should leave now; it's not too late. I can handle all of this myself; it has nothing to do with you."
As I issued the order for her to leave, Azure Grain's face flushed slightly as she said, "Heavenly Emperor, that's not what I meant. I want to stay with you."
"You've developed feelings for me," I stated bluntly.
Azure Grain's face turned even redder, and she lowered her head, falling silent.
Just as I was about to speak, suddenly, the door behind us slammed shut.
A chill ran down my spine; it seemed that the Heavenly Mechanism Formation had been activated, and now Azure Grain wouldn't be able to leave.
"Heavenly Emperor," Azure Grain seemed to sense something and tightly grasped my shoulder.
"Don't worry. You entered this Heavenly Mechanism Formation with me. Out of both reason and emotion, I will take care of you," I assured her as I shielded Azure Grain behind me.
Suddenly, laughter echoed around us, repeating endlessly.
"Ha ha, it seems that the Heavenly Emperor has quite a few admirers. One after another, they are willing to dedicate themselves to you; it's truly remarkable," the Old Man of Heavenly Secrets appeared before me.
Clearly, the Old Man of Heavenly Secrets realized that I was aware of his true identity, so he no longer concealed himself and faced me directly.
"I never expected you to be so despicable as to reach out to a weak woman," I scolded Celestial Sage harshly.
Celestial Sage shrugged it off. "Heavenly Emperor, that's quite a saintly accusation. No matter how I act, it's nothing compared to what you've done. You destroyed the entire Three Realms."
At those words, anger surged within me. If it weren't for the heavenly gods' ruthless attacks against me back then, how would I have ended up in this situation?
"Ha, you know better than anyone what those gods did to me. Why must you throw dirt on my name?" I replied coldly.
Celestial Sage took a step closer to me and waved his hand casually. "I wonder if the Heavenly Emperor still remembers these people."
I was momentarily stunned, not quite understanding the meaning of "Celestial Sage." Suddenly, several figures appeared before me—those who had previously sacrificed themselves, including Uncle Tiger.
"What do you mean by this?" I asked, my eyes widening as I realized something.
The Celestial Sage sneered, glancing at the people who had appeared. "What do you mean? You were always meant to die. Long ago this morning, you were already forsaken by the heavens. You are not the so-called King of the Earth. Did you think those people were killed by the Demons? No, they merely shielded you from death."
"You say I was forsaken by the heavens and am not the King of the Earth. What does that mean?" The Celestial Sage's words left me confused, shrouded in a fog of uncertainty.
"Heh, in any case, you must pay the corresponding price. Since you destroyed the Former Heavenly Court, it's time for you to die," the Celestial Sage clearly did not wish to elaborate further. In an instant, he transformed into a beam of light and exploded right in our midst.
Instinctively, I shielded Azure Grain. In that moment, everything around us vanished into a blinding white.
I understood that the Celestial Sage had poured all his Divine Power into this formation.
"What should we do, Heavenly Emperor?" Azure Grain looked around in panic at the vast whiteness.
"Don't worry, it's fine," I reassured Azure Grain. At that moment, changes began to unfold around us; tiny starlights started to appear, gradually drowning out the white expanse.
Before long, a Heavenly Mechanism Statue emerged before us.
It was a picture formed by countless star points connected together; each star concealed danger. Now, we were surrounded by innumerable stars. If we let our guard down even slightly, these stars would transform into a web and ensnare us tightly.
"Be careful," I whispered in Azure Grain's ear.
Azure Grain's expression shifted slightly. I focused all my attention on those stars when suddenly one of them grew large and sped toward us. My eyes widened as I dodged just in time; that star exploded behind us.
I let out a sigh of relief and turned my gaze forward. After that star vanished, those hanging in the celestial diagram inexplicably turned black. Suddenly, the entire starry scene darkened, and my expression grew serious—was there another change?
"Heavenly Emperor, be careful! It's the change of heavenly mechanisms!" Azure Grain's voice reached my ears.
I nodded in response. At that moment, I sensed something rushing toward us from behind. My heart raced as I quickly pulled Azure Grain aside just as a powerful wave surged past us, followed by another explosion.
Before I could catch my breath, a tremendous wave of energy surged forth. Just as I was about to evade it, another wave appeared in an instant, surrounding both me and Azure Grain as if we were the center of a storm.
I quickly erected a protective barrier, shielding both myself and Azure Grain in the middle. The incoming waves crashed against the barrier, creating a massive shockwave. I took a deep breath; fortunately, we were unharmed. However, it seemed that the Celestial Sage had murderous intent towards us. Well, I wouldn't hold back either.
I immediately unleashed the Heaven and Earth Light. This radiant energy engulfed the entire starry expanse, and with a shout, I directed the Heaven and Earth Light to cleave through the entire formation.
A mournful cry echoed back to me; my lips curled into a slight smile. That was the sound of the Celestial Sage.
As the Heaven and Earth Light faded away, everything around us began to return to normal.
I retracted the barrier, revealing the Celestial Sage collapsed before me, utterly immobilized, with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
The transformation he had undergone was due to his Divine Power and physical form. With his formation shattered, he was naturally gravely injured; he would likely soon be reduced to nothingness.
"Heh, I have no regrets. If given the chance, I will definitely kill you," the Celestial Sage declared before dissolving into a wisp of smoke.
Shortly after, the Heavenly Mechanism Palace vanished as well, leaving behind nothing but flat ground.
I turned to Azure Grain and asked, "Are you alright?"
She shook her head and replied that she was fine but seemed to have something more to say, her expression betraying hesitation.
"Go ahead; I won't blame you," I encouraged her, sensing her inner turmoil.
Azure Grain looked at me in surprise and said, "Heavenly Emperor, you know what I want to tell you?"
I nodded and pointed toward where the Celestial Sage had disappeared. "Is it related to the Celestial Sage?"
"Yes, Heavenly Emperor," Azure Grain said unexpectedly, nodding at me. "I hope you won't blame my father; he is innocent. He just—"
"Is your father from the Former Heavenly Court?" I interrupted Azure Grain directly.
Azure Grain shook her head. "My father isn't exactly one of them. He has always been present whenever a Heavenly Emperor ascends to the throne. It's been that way for a long time, and so have I. But, Heavenly Emperor, please rest assured, our family would never harbor any ill intentions towards you."
I looked at Azure Grain and thought for a moment before responding with a simple acknowledgment. Upon hearing my words, Azure Grain seemed taken aback, as if she didn't quite understand what I meant.
"Heavenly Emperor, do you agree?" Azure Grain asked cautiously.
"Yes, as long as you don't cross my bottom line," I replied.
"Heavenly Emperor, don't worry; we have no ill will towards Miss Ruoxi," Azure Grain said happily.
Seeing Azure Grain nodding in satisfaction, she seemed to recall something and said to me, "Heavenly Emperor, since the Celestial Sage is already dead, wouldn't it be better to bring Miss Ruoxi back directly? That way, she won't have to suffer anymore."
I understood what Azure Grain meant, but Ruoxi had already descended to the mortal realm with Li Jie. Bringing her back now would not be wise. In the future, if I wanted to elevate Ruoxi to the position of Queen, there would be many who would gossip behind our backs.
