The voice of Feng Ju came from behind us.
Ruoxi and I turned to look back, and the scene of the Spirit Feast had already been tidied up by Feng Ju.
"You talk about us showing off our affection, but you and Xiaomei could have flaunted it right in front of me last night," I couldn't help but tease Feng Ju.
Ruoxi nodded politely at Feng Ju upon seeing her.
"Haha, we're all in the same boat," Feng Ju laughed heartily.
I glanced back and said to Feng Ju, "Now that the Tree Sage is dead, what are your plans?"
Feng Ju nodded, her expression suddenly turning resolute as she said, "I want to take over the position of Tree Sage. After all, the responsibility was to protect this world. With the Tree Sage gone, other tribes will surely fall into chaos."
Feng Ju's words made a lot of sense. I nodded and looked at Ruoxi, suggesting, "How about we help Feng Ju on our way back?"
Ruoxi thought for a moment, seeming hesitant. Seeing the expression in Ruoxi's eyes, Feng Ju understood and said to me, "If you're worried, you can return to your world first. I'll be fine."
Upon hearing this, Ruoxi quickly replied, "No, that's not what I meant. Don't misunderstand."
Ruoxi's anxious demeanor was quite adorable, and I couldn't help but smile. Ruoxi shot me a glare before turning to Feng Ju and saying, "Actually, we should help you since you've helped us."
When Feng Ju heard Ruoxi's words, she smiled shyly. Just then, a cloud of black mist appeared before us.
"Xiaomei," Feng Ju immediately focused her attention.
As soon as Feng Ju finished speaking, Xiaomei appeared right in front of us.
"Are you okay?" I asked Xiaomei, noticing that she hadn't made a move since last night.
"I'm fine! Don't worry about me," Xiaomei said cheerfully.
Feng Ju instinctively stood beside Xiaomei, reaching out to gently touch her forehead, his eyes filled with a special affection.
"Tsk tsk, showing off your love again," I couldn't help but tease.
"Wang, if you keep this up, I might just tell Princess about your little secrets," Xiaomei threatened playfully.
I was taken aback, looking at Xiaomei in confusion. I hadn't done anything to upset Ruoxi.
To my surprise, Xiaomei walked over to Ruoxi and whispered something in her ear. I could see Ruoxi's expression gradually change.
My heart sank instantly. Was it something about Dumeng Princess?
After speaking, Ruoxi left, seemingly upset. My heart raced as I wondered what Xiaomei had said. Without thinking twice, I turned and chased after Ruoxi.
"Ruoxi, wait for me!" Ruoxi was incredibly fast; even with Divine Power, I couldn't catch up to her.
The distance between us grew wider, so I summoned a giant dragon to block her path.
I quickly caught up to Ruoxi. "What's wrong? Did Xiaomei say something that upset you?"
Upon hearing my words, a hint of grievance appeared in Ruoxi's eyes, and my heart ached. I repeatedly apologized to her.
"Wang Jun, do you not care about me anymore?" Ruoxi's eyes glistened with unshed tears.
I was stunned for a moment before quickly reassuring her, "How could that be? I promise you, I will only love you and no one else. Besides, my heart belongs only to you."
Ruoxi's eyes lit up as she heard my words. "Is what Wang Jun said true?"
I nodded and seriously assured Ruoxi that it was.
The sadness on Ruoxi's face faded, which made me curious about what Xiaomei had told her to cause such a change.
"What exactly did that troublemaker Xiaomei say to you?" I asked cautiously, afraid of upsetting Ruoxi again.
Ruoxi looked at me and said, "Xiaomei said that during the days I was recovering, you spent a lot of time with Dumeng Princess and even had a wedding ceremony with her, right?"
I immediately felt guilty and couldn't meet Ruoxi's gaze. Although it was true, it had only happened out of necessity at the time.
"Ruoxi, please don't be angry. You know I had just arrived in this world; I had no other options. But now we are together, right? Besides, I had an agreement with Dumeng Princess back then," I explained.
"But..."
"There’s no 'but,' Ruoxi. You have to trust me," I said before leaning in to kiss her.
Ruoxi was taken aback by my sudden action, her eyes widening in surprise. After a moment, her face turned red.
After a while, I finally released Ruoxi from the embrace.
"Now, do you believe me?" I asked her.
Ruoxi shyly nodded and said, "But if someone sees us, they might laugh at us."
"Let them laugh. Besides, what does it matter if I'm being affectionate with my wife?" I replied dismissively.
Ruoxi laughed at my appearance, and just then, I suddenly saw a great fire erupting in the direction of Feng Ju and the others.
"This is bad; something might have happened," I said to Ruoxi.
Ruoxi also noticed the blaze and said, "This is the destructive fire unleashed by the leaders of those tribes."
Upon hearing this, my heart sank as I thought of Feng Ju. Could it be that those people were up to something again?
"Wang Jun, it seems we need to hurry back there. If something serious has occurred, it could lead to trouble," Ruoxi said anxiously.
I nodded in agreement and followed Ruoxi back to the Spirit Banquet. When we arrived, we found a crowd gathered around Feng Ju.
"What are you all doing?" I asked the group.
The Wind King stepped forward and sneered at me. "What do you think we're doing? Killing the Tree Sage wasn't just his power alone; we contributed significantly too. Why should he be our king?"
Looking at the Wind King, I couldn't help but feel disdain. "If it weren't for Feng Ju, you would all have perished at the hands of the Tree Sage. Just based on that alone, Feng Ju deserves to be your king."
"Hmph, whether he becomes our king or not is not for you to decide," the Wind King scoffed.
"What do you intend to do then?" I asked calmly, suspecting that the Wind King was aiming to become a leader in this world and had already allied with others from different tribes.
Someone like the Wind King should never ascend to kingship; otherwise, this world would surely descend into suffering.
"If one is to be king in this world, their spiritual power and abilities must surpass everyone else's; only then can they lead," the Wind King declared.
"Are you suggesting a comparison of spiritual powers?" I inquired.
The expression of Wind King was somewhat hesitant. Under everyone's gaze, he finally nodded and said, "Alright."
Everyone then stepped back to form a large circle, with Feng Ju and Wang Wang standing in the center. I felt a bit worried, not because I doubted Feng Ju's ability to defeat Wind King—Feng Ju was quite capable—but mainly because I feared that Wind King might resort to underhanded tactics.
I walked up to Feng Ju and whispered, "Are you okay with this?"
Feng Ju nodded, giving me a reassuring look that suggested I shouldn't worry. I then pushed my way over to Ruoxi's side. Ruoxi looked at me and asked, "Are you worried about Feng Ju?"
"Not exactly. Do you think Wind King is fully prepared, which is why he has the courage to challenge Feng Ju?" As I spoke, I recalled the conversations we had with the tribes earlier. Could it be that their intentions had begun to take shape during that time? Although only a few days had passed, it was enough for them to make preparations.
"That's a given. However, even if he is well-prepared, he won't succeed. The dark arts that Wind King practices are forbidden in this world. Although Feng Ju is the Former Spirit King, he still possesses a supreme authority. Until a new king is born and with Tree Sage dead, the prevailing winds of this world will be under his command. When Wind King secretly cultivates these forbidden techniques, Feng Ju's power and spirit energy will surge dramatically. This is the authority granted to him by this world," Ruoxi explained.
It was then that I understood.
Feng Ju and Wind King had already begun their confrontation.
The two stood in the center, their eyes filled with hostility. A slight smirk appeared on Wind King's lips as strands of lightning crackled in his palm.
"Look, Wind King is about to use forbidden techniques. This is the Dark Shadow Technique, which can instantly annihilate a person. Just look at the lightning in his hand; if anyone gets hit by it, they'll be in serious trouble."
