I heard Xiaomei's heart-wrenching scream, and then I seemed to see a figure fall from the suspension bridge.
After that, I lost all awareness, only hearing the rushing wind constantly ringing in my ears.
I don't know how long it had been; the noise around me faded, and I lost consciousness.
"Wake up, Wang," Xiaomei's voice reached my ears.
In an instant, I felt a force slowly coursing through me, compelling me to open my eyes.
"Xiaomei, why did you come down too?" I said in surprise as I looked at her.
Xiaomei smiled and said, "I am your guardian spirit, so naturally, I must follow you. Fortunately, we survived the fall into this abyss."
Seeing the smile on Xiaomei's face made me feel a bit guilty; I hadn't expected to drag her into this situation.
"What about Dumeng Princess and the others?" I asked.
"They're on the bridge mountain. I think they have already entered the isolated island. We need to find a way to leave here quickly," Xiaomei replied.
I nodded, but when I tried to get up, I realized I had no strength at all. I was taken aback; what was happening?
"What’s going on?" I asked Xiaomei in confusion.
Xiaomei looked at me awkwardly and said, "Wang, because your physical body is that of a mortal, it was damaged when you fell into the abyss. Now your body is completely shattered."
"What?" My eyes widened in shock, feeling a sense of despair wash over me.
"But don’t worry, Wang. I will use my spiritual power to heal you," she said. Then Xiaomei lifted me up and leaned me against a large rock.
I looked at Xiaomei, feeling puzzled as I watched her walk to the side and squat down. To my surprise, she was picking up stones.
Soon after, Xiaomei brought a pile of stones back and placed them in front of me. "Wang, this should work. It might hurt a bit, so you need to endure it."
I was momentarily stunned, then nodded in response. I watched as Xiaomei lifted all the stones in front of her, and in an instant, they turned to dust.
"Go," Xiaomei commanded the dust.
Suddenly, the dust surged toward me with ferocity. I instinctively closed my eyes, and in that moment, it felt as if my body was being sliced by countless sharp blades.
I clenched my teeth tightly, feeling as if the bones within me were being connected by some unseen force. This sensation lasted for what felt like an eternity, and just when I thought I couldn't endure it any longer, it finally ceased.
I took a deep breath and collapsed.
"Wang, are you okay?" Xiaomei called out to me anxiously.
I shook my head to indicate I was fine. However, seeing my pale face, Xiaomei transferred her energy to me.
With the energy Xiaomei provided, I felt slightly better. She looked at me and said, "Wang, try to see if you can stand up."
I nodded and attempted to move. To my surprise, I could indeed move. My heart raced with excitement as I slowly stood up, though it was painful.
"Is that good enough?" Xiaomei asked as she watched me.
"Yes, but how do we get up from here?" I looked around; the steep cliffs surrounding us were too high to climb, and using Divine Power seemed impossible.
"That's quite a dilemma. However, there must be a way out of here," Xiaomei replied.
I glanced at her and noticed the worry etched on her face. We decided to split up and explore our respective sides; perhaps we could find a hidden path.
I headed left and stumbled upon a pile of white bones. A chill ran down my spine—could these be the remains of those who had fallen from the bridge before us? Had they been trapped here until death?
If that were the case, Xiaomei and I might be stuck here forever.
Panic filled my heart. How could we escape this place?
Just then, I sensed something unusual nearby; it felt as if there was some kind of power emanating from that direction. I moved toward it, and suddenly, my awareness intensified right before me.
In front of me stood a wall, and I was momentarily taken aback. Was there something hidden within it? I pressed my entire body against the wall, and immediately, I felt a reaction coursing through me, as if I were a magnet being drawn in.
Not only that, but I sensed a force emanating from within the wall, clinging tightly to me.
My eyes widened in realization; it seemed there was a barrier inside the wall.
Knowing this, I quickly separated myself from it and took a step back. Perhaps if I broke through the wall, I would discover a different world beyond.
The thought excited me more and more. I summoned my Divine Power to break open the wall, but to my surprise, it didn’t react at all; it remained intact. This only heightened my suspicion that something lay hidden within.
“Your Majesty, what are you doing?” Xiaomei approached me.
I turned to her and said, “It seems there’s something inside this wall. Come take a look.”
Xiaomei hesitated for a moment before stepping closer. She placed her hand on the wall, seemingly trying to sense something. I watched her anxiously.
“What do you sense?” I asked nervously.
Xiaomei looked at me and nodded. “There seems to be a barrier inside this wall.”
I agreed with her observation. Indeed, there was a barrier within the wall, and I wondered what would happen if we broke through it.
“Xiaomei, step aside,” I instructed her.
Xiaomei took a few steps back and stood behind me. I summoned a giant dragon; the power of this barrier was formidable, and relying solely on Divine Power wouldn’t be enough to break it.
Once the dragon appeared, it charged straight at the wall. Instantly, a tremendous vibration rippled through the surroundings, causing my body to tremble as I struggled to maintain my balance.
Seeing this, Xiaomei rushed forward to support me, concern etched on her face. “Are you okay?”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at how fragile I must have seemed in Xiaomei’s eyes.
Shaking my head to reassure her that I was fine, I kept my gaze fixed on the dragon. To my astonishment, the backlash from the barrier was incredibly strong.
The dragon crashed against the wall several times, but the structure showed no signs of damage. Instead, everything around us began to shake, and even some sand fell from the ceiling above.
"Your Majesty, this doesn't seem right. What if it causes a disturbance in the abyss below? We could end up buried," Xiaomei said with a worried expression.
I understood Xiaomei's concern, and my heart was heavy with uncertainty. Just then, the dragon let out a piercing scream.
I immediately turned my gaze to the dragon, only to be astonished as it broke through the barrier.
"Look, Your Majesty, it's the entrance to the island!" Xiaomei exclaimed in surprise.
I was momentarily stunned and looked at Xiaomei in disbelief. "You mean this is the island?"
Xiaomei nodded seriously. "Yes, this is indeed the entrance to the island. Your Majesty, who would have thought we would find fortune in misfortune?"
I was taken aback and stepped forward. Before us lay a beautiful place that resembled a paradise on earth. I never imagined this could be an island.
I had always thought an island would be a desolate place.
"Your Majesty, let's go! We might even run into Dumeng Princess and the others," Xiaomei suggested.
I nodded in agreement, unable to contain my excitement as I stepped into the island. As soon as I entered, a refreshing breeze brushed against my face. I took a deep breath; the air inside was incredibly clear.
"This place is beautiful," Xiaomei sighed beside me.
I looked around and indeed found the scenery quite stunning. I recalled the dragon back into its form.
"Your Majesty, we need to find Dumeng Princess and the others first," Xiaomei reminded me.
I nodded and closed my eyes to sense their location. After a moment, I opened my eyes and pointed to the left. "Let's head that way."
Xiaomei was taken aback. "Your Majesty, you sensed their location so quickly?"
I nodded, ignoring Xiaomei's surprised expression, and walked to the left.
The scenery on the left was beautiful, filled with many unusual flowers.
Suddenly, a familiar female voice echoed above me, "Wang Jun! Wang Jun! I'm in so much pain!"
My heart sank at once, tightening with anxiety; that voice belonged to Ruoxi.
Without hesitation, I started running forward. With each step, Ruoxi's voice grew closer, as if she were right nearby.
Xiaomei watched me run and quickly caught up, asking, "Wang, what's wrong?"
I didn't respond to Xiaomei because Ruoxi's voice was becoming weaker and weaker, indicating that I was losing the direction to find her.
