In front of us appeared a stone bridge, with flowing water beneath it, and on the other side of the bridge lay a forest. We were all stunned.
"What is going on? How did this scene suddenly appear?" Xiaomei exclaimed in surprise.
"This is an island," Dumeng Princess stepped forward and said to us.
"An island? Are you sure?" I looked at Xiaomei in astonishment.
Logically, there should have been a long journey to reach an island, so how could we have arrived so quickly? I gazed suspiciously at the scene before us, wondering if it was yet another illusion.
Dumeng Princess looked at me seriously and said, "No, this is indeed an island, but it's a moving island."
Xiaomei and I exchanged glances, unsure of what Dumeng Princess meant by a moving island.
"What do you mean?" I asked Dumeng Princess anxiously.
"There are actually two islands: Dead Silence Island and Moving Island. These two islands are essentially the same. The fact that we can see Moving Island is a stroke of luck; it signifies good fortune. According to legend, Moving Island holds things we need, such as Spirit Pearls and some excellent weapons," Dumeng Princess explained.
I was somewhat surprised by Dumeng Princess's words; I hadn't expected there to be two islands.
"Let's go in and take a look. If your Ruoxi isn't here on Moving Island, she might be on Dead Silence Island, which could be troublesome." With that, Dumeng Princess walked ahead.
Seeing this, Xiaomei and I followed her onto the stone bridge. For some reason, as we walked across the bridge, I felt a sense of unease. I glanced down at the flowing water beneath the bridge and, for a brief moment, I saw a woman's face reflected in it.
I was startled; the woman's face seemed familiar. But when I looked again, there was nothing in the water.
I felt a bit disappointed. Just then, Dumeng Princess turned around and walked toward me, glancing at the water with curiosity. "What's wrong? Is there something in the water?" she asked.
I shook my head. "Let's go; maybe I just misinterpreted what I saw."
Dumeng Princess nodded and continued on her way. After we crossed the stone bridge, both the bridge and the flowing water vanished. I was taken aback; this place felt strange. Moreover, everything I had just seen quickly faded to gray.
"Quick, let's get into the forest! If the Moving Island disappears, we won't be able to find it, and reaching another island will take a lot of effort," the anxious voice of Dumeng Princess came through.
Xiaomei and I immediately stepped into the woods, while the scene outside began to fade away.
I let out a deep breath; that was quite dangerous.
"Once we get out of this forest, will we reach the island?" Xiaomei asked Dumeng Princess as she looked around.
"Yes, but we still need to be careful. There are dangers in this forest as well, though they aren't too severe," Dumeng Princess reminded us.
"Okay," Xiaomei and I replied in unison.
The forest was eerily quiet, yet it was filled with a strange fragrance—sweet yet pungent.
"Be careful, this is Residual Fragrance Poison. If you inhale too much, you'll turn to bones instantly," Dumeng Princess said urgently.
My heart raced; I hadn't expected this fragrance to be so potent.
I quickly used Divine Power to seal my airways. At that moment, I noticed wisps of dark energy swirling around us.
"Everyone be careful; the poison is spreading," I warned Dumeng Princess and Xiaomei.
"Got it."
Just then, I heard a strong gust of wind whistling by my ear. It made my heart race even more; this was no ordinary wind. It felt ominous. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and used Divine Power to sense that a barrage of poisoned arrows was coming our way.
"Not good, poisoned arrows are coming!" As soon as I spoke, millions of arrows rushed into my line of sight.
"Watch out, Your Highness!" Xiaomei reacted swiftly, stepping in front of me and deflecting the incoming arrows one by one. Watching her do this made beads of sweat form on my forehead; if she slipped up even once, it would surely be disastrous.
Poison arrows surged toward us relentlessly, with no sign of stopping. At this moment, Xiaomei and Dumeng Princess had already exhausted much of their strength. If this continued, they would surely be injured. Gritting my teeth, I quickly pulled them behind me and unleashed my true form: a dragon.
The giant dragon emerged, radiating brilliant light. The light coalesced into a protective shield that stood before us. As the poison arrows struck, they were deflected by the shield, and this situation persisted for quite some time.
I furrowed my brow, rapidly brainstorming solutions in my mind. Sooner or later, this protective shield would be pierced by the endless barrage of arrows.
There must be someone controlling these poison arrows from behind. To stop them, we needed to take control of the person orchestrating this attack.
"Go," I commanded the dragon circling around us. Upon receiving my order, the dragon charged toward the source of the arrows.
The poison arrows posed no threat to the dragon; it lunged forward fiercely.
In just a moment, the dragon vanished from our sight.
"Is the dragon going to be okay?" Xiaomei asked anxiously.
"Yeah, it's been so long without any sign," Dumeng Princess added, her face filled with worry.
I gazed ahead, my expression deepening. I wasn't concerned about what Xiaomei and Dumeng Princess said; a dragon was not something that could be easily harmed by mere mortals or objects.
Time passed, yet there was still no sign from the dragon, while the poison arrows continued to rain down upon us.
"My king, we need to think of a solution quickly," Xiaomei urged me, her brow furrowed deeply.
I acknowledged her with a nod but chose to trust in the dragon's strength.
Suddenly, an ancient voice echoed through the air. My heart leaped with joy; it must be that the dragon had brought something back with it.
Dumeng Princess and Xiaomei also noticed the sound of that cry.
Before us, a massive dragon held an elderly man in its jaws. As the old man appeared, the poisonous arrows vanished, further confirming my suspicion that he was the mastermind behind it all.
I retracted my protective shield and coldly stared at the old man still before me. I had never seen him before, but I couldn't understand why he had aimed such a deadly assault at us.
"Who are you, and why do you want to kill us?" I said coldly to the old man.
The old man had already shown his murderous intent, so there was no need to be polite.
"Hah, since you have caught me, do as you wish—kill or torture me," he glared at us fiercely.
"King, this old man seems to be from the Flower Tribe," Xiaomei said.
"What do you mean he's from the Flower Tribe?" I looked at Xiaomei in surprise. In that instant, I began to understand the reason behind the old man's violent actions against us.
"Yes, I am indeed from the Flower Tribe. You are truly ruthless; the Flower Tribe has no enmity with you. Why do you target us so mercilessly?" The old man stood up immediately upon hearing our words, glaring at us with anger.
I pondered for a moment; the entire Flower Tribe had been annihilated by the Tree Sage. How could there be any survivors? I scrutinized the old man before me.
The old man seemed to sense my thoughts and snorted coldly. "Hah, if it weren't for the Flower King allowing me to leave early, I would have likely been killed by you."
I glanced at him indifferently and replied, "The downfall of the Flower Tribe is entirely their own doing, isn’t it? They plotted against the Bird Tribe, framed it on the Beast Clan, and even attempted to disrupt entire tribes. Isn’t this all a consequence of their own actions?"
Upon hearing my words, the old man's expression stiffened, and he fell silent.
"Since that’s the case, I won’t spare you," I said as I raised my hand, ready to strike. Suddenly, the old man stood up and shouted, "Wait! If you kill me, you'll never reach the lonely island!"
At his words, everyone present froze in shock. I found it hard to believe what he was saying. "What are you talking about?"
The old man snorted again. "Do you think I'm lying? If you don't believe me, go ahead and kill me. I know there is a woman's soul on that lonely island. You came here to find her."
My hand dropped instantly, and I immediately asked the old man, "What did you say? Where is that woman?"
I was a bit agitated, lifting the old man off the ground and glaring at him. He sneered at me and said, "Hmph, is this how you ask for help?"
A surge of anger rose within me, but I had no choice but to lower my tone. "How about this: if you take us to that woman, I'll give you a Spirit Pearl. What do you say?"
"What did you say? Spirit Pearl?" The old man's eyes lit up immediately.
I noted the change in his expression; it seemed that the Spirit Pearl was quite tempting for people in this world.
"Are you really going to give me a Spirit Pearl?" The old man looked at me with suspicion, his expression turning doubtful as he sensed my scrutiny.
I nodded without saying anything and took out the Spirit Pearl.
"This really is a Spirit Pearl!" The old man stared intently at the pearl in my hand.
I acknowledged him with a sound, already having a good understanding of the old man before me. In truth, he didn't have deep feelings for the Flower Tribe; he was the type who would seek benefits for himself. Such people were easy to deal with.
"Yes, if you do well, I wouldn't mind giving you another one," I continued to entice him.
"You mean to say you have many Spirit Pearls?" The old man was taken aback by my words.
I nodded seriously and said to him, "You might not know this, but I have been personally appointed as the Spirit King by the Tree Sage. Naturally, I possess many Spirit Pearls. To you, the Flower Tribe is merely a place where you survive; those from the Flower Tribe are not important to you at all. Why would you turn against us for them? You should know that there’s nothing left behind you. Having one less enemy is better than having one more. Don't you think?"
