Captain Wu's eyes sparkled as if he had thought of something important. He insisted that we needed to keep up, and I smiled at his excitement, wondering if we were on the same wavelength. 0

Captain Wu nodded in agreement, acknowledging the urgency of the situation. Since he seemed focused, I decided not to press him further and instead concentrated on following He Wei. 0

He Wei cradled the item in his arms with great care. He walked over to the parking spot, glanced around as if checking for onlookers, and once satisfied that no one was watching, he placed the item on the ground right in front of the car door. Then, He Wei bowed three times towards the box, murmuring something under his breath. 0

We couldn't hear him clearly due to the distance. 0

This puzzled Captain Wu, who chuckled and asked me, "Little brother, what do you think He Wei is doing? Why is he kneeling before that box?" 0

I laughed lightly, but just as I was about to make a joke, a sudden realization hit me. I recalled what Uncle Tiger had told me earlier. Comparing it now, could this be related to soul nurturing? 0

Soul nurturing refers to the practice of summoning a deceased person's spirit back from the Underworld and housing it in a special place. However, this practice is quite troublesome; it not only violates regulations in the Underworld but also incurs penalties. Of course, these concerns were not our immediate priority. 0

Still, anyone capable of soul nurturing must be quite skilled since they would need to erase the spirit's name from the Book of Life and Death in the Underworld. This way, those in the Underworld wouldn't discover that this spirit existed. 0

I took a deep breath and told Captain Wu that this might be related to soul nurturing. 0

Captain Wu looked taken aback and asked me what soul nurturing was. Just as I was about to explain, He Wei stood up again and placed the box inside the car. It seemed he was preparing to drive away. 0

I quickly urged Captain Wu to start the car so we could follow He Wei. 0

Captain Wu nodded and immediately went to retrieve his vehicle while I carefully trailed behind He Wei. 0

He Wei's driving speed was slow until he reached the exit when he suddenly accelerated. This made me anxious as Captain Wu hadn't arrived yet. Just as it seemed He Wei would vanish from sight, Captain Wu's car appeared. I quickly jumped into the vehicle and pointed ahead at He Wei's car, urging Captain Wu to catch up or we would lose him. 0

"Don't worry," Captain Wu reassured me confidently. "I can handle this driving." Before long, we had closed the gap between us and He Wei's vehicle. 0

However, the place that He Wei was heading to seemed a bit strange, increasingly remote. 0

"Captain Wu, do you know where this road leads?" I asked, pointing at the road ahead. 0

Captain Wu glanced around and said, "It seems to be going to the Cemetery." 0

I was startled; what could He Wei possibly want at the Cemetery? 0

Sure enough, He Wei parked the car at the entrance of the Cemetery, got out with something in his arms, and walked inside. 0

After Captain Wu parked in a concealed spot, we also got out and entered, but we lost sight of He Wei. 0

This left both Captain Wu and me feeling frustrated. At that moment, an elderly man who appeared to be a caretaker of the Cemetery approached us. Seeing us standing there, he asked what was wrong. 0

Captain Wu showed his police badge to the man and inquired if he had seen a man carrying something. 0

The old man initially shook his head but then nodded slightly and said he had seen someone. 0

His words instantly perked up both Captain Wu and me as we hurriedly asked where He Wei was. 0

But the old man fell silent again, a complex expression crossing his face as if he were hesitating about something. This made both Captain Wu and me anxious as we pressed him for answers. 0

The old man sighed and said, "That person I know; he's the manager of Home Theater. He comes here every day carrying a box and stays until dawn. I often see him talking to the box." 0

His words only deepened our confusion. The Cemetery was certainly a place for the deceased; who could it be? Could it be someone from within that box? 0

I asked the old man who He Wei was here to see. 0

The old man sighed again and replied, "It seems to be that man's Boss." 0

I was suddenly filled with doubt, and Captain Wu then asked the old man where He Wei's boss was buried. 0

The old man raised his hand and pointed ahead, saying, "Just keep walking straight. However, staying here until nightfall could lead to trouble." 0

After saying that, the old man walked away. 0

I frowned; the old man seemed rather eccentric. 0

Captain Wu withdrew his gaze and asked me, "Little brother, should we go take a look?" 0

I glanced at the sky; it seemed to be getting late, and the old man's words lingered in my mind. 0

I replied to Captain Wu, "Let's head back first. We can look into He Wei's boss; maybe we'll discover something." 0

Captain Wu nodded in agreement, and then we got into the car and left. 0

Upon returning to the police station, Captain Wu immediately instructed the officers to start investigating River Bridge Cinema. 0

Before long, the officers had gathered the information and handed it over to us. 0

When we looked at it, both Captain Wu and I were taken aback. He Wei's boss was named Liu Shoubai, who had been dead for two years. Yet he had appeared at the ribbon-cutting ceremony when this Home Theater opened. Furthermore, we discovered that this Liu Shoubai had made a name for himself by practicing feng shui. 0

I kept pondering over the term "feng shui." 0

Meanwhile, Captain Wu was lost in his own thoughts. 0

At that moment, A Yao and another female officer approached us with something in their hands. They said that after a long day of work, we should eat something; otherwise, how could we continue to do our jobs effectively? 0

I put down the work I was doing with Captain Wu, not thinking much about it. 0

Looking at the steaming dishes in front of me, I couldn't help but take a deep breath; the aroma was truly delightful. My stomach, already hungry, responded immediately to the enticing smell. 0

As a result, all three people present laughed. I chuckled and, not bothering with manners, dug in heartily since we were all so familiar with each other. 0

Captain Wu also didn’t hold back and started eating with gusto. 0

A Yao watched us and shook her head helplessly. "You two should eat more slowly; no one is competing with you." 0

Upon hearing this, Captain Wu burst into laughter, saying that I had found a good wife who was not only considerate but also cooked so well. He wondered when he would find a girlfriend like A Yao. 0

I teased him, saying he might never find one since A Yao was the best girl in the world. 0

When A Yao heard us praising her, her face turned bright red. She pushed the female officer who had been standing behind her forward and said, "You guys just love to tease me. Hmph! Let me tell you, there are plenty of good girls out there. Captain Wu, you have no idea; I can't cook noodles as well as Officer Yuan here." 0

Only then did we turn our attention to the female officer behind A Yao. 0

She was a very delicate-looking police officer, exuding a gentle demeanor—truly a refined beauty. 0

A Yao quietly walked over to me and pulled me aside. I was taken aback and complained to her, "A Yao, I'm not full yet!" 0

With a helpless expression, A Yao said to me, "Wang Niu, can’t you see? I'm giving Captain Wu a chance! Didn’t he say he doesn’t have a girlfriend?" 0

I paused for a moment before understanding. I grinned at A Yao and suggested that she accompany me to grab a bite outside. 0

A Yao agreed with a nod, and I followed her out of the police station. By this time, it was already evening. 0

We walked for a while and soon arrived at the bustling night market, filled with people, delicious food, and plenty of fun activities. 0

A Yao suddenly became excited, grabbing my hand and pulling me into the night city. She said it had been a long time since she had enjoyed a proper outing and asked if I could accompany her for a bit. 0

Hearing A Yao say that made my heart ache, as if someone had tightly grasped it, causing a painful sensation. I smiled and agreed. 0

A Yao immediately brightened up, dragging me from one snack stall to another, indulging in various treats. It was indeed a form of happiness. 0

We wandered around until late at night. Although many vendors had already packed up their stalls, it did not diminish the lively atmosphere. 0

Just then, I suddenly spotted Qiman. 0

Qiman was hugging a middle-aged man quite intimately. I froze for a moment; such closeness suggested that this man was likely not Qiman's father. The gesture seemed more like Qiman was being supported by someone else. 0

I nudged A Yao to look at Qiman. Following my gesture, A Yao glanced over and was momentarily stunned, clearly taken aback. 0

In A Yao's mind, Qiman was just an exemplary student, yet here she was embracing a man who could easily be her father. 0
