Captain Wu looked troubled as he said to Uncle Tiger, "It's a bit difficult. After the incident, once we finished our investigation, the scene was sealed off by the deceased's family."
"How is that possible? Doesn't the police have the authority to protect the scene?" I interjected.
Uncle Tiger shot me a glare and continued to ask, "What happened?"
Captain Wu explained, "It is said that the deceased's family has a special background and connections with higher-ups. They also hold a deep respect for ghostly beliefs, thinking that after a child dies, their soul remains at the scene. If disturbed, not only can they not reincarnate, but their family will also face continuous misfortune."
Uncle Tiger nodded thoughtfully and glanced at the body before asking us to leave. Before we departed, Captain Wu asked for my contact information, saying it would be more convenient for him to inform us of any developments.
After Captain Wu left, Uncle Tiger and I went back into the room to rest. Perhaps due to Aunt A-Yao's situation weighing on my mind, I found it hard to sleep. I glanced over at Uncle Tiger's bed and noticed he was staring at the ceiling, seemingly lost in thought.
I tentatively called out to him, and he turned his gaze towards me, asking with concern, "Can't sleep?"
I replied softly, "Uncle, there's been no progress with Aunt A-Yao's case. Now we've taken on another corpse; isn't it a bit..."
I didn't finish my sentence, but Uncle Tiger seemed to understand and said, "Are you feeling overconfident?"
I quickly shook my head. Just as I was about to explain, Uncle Tiger smiled and said, "Did you know that clues have already come our way?"
I exclaimed in surprise, not quite grasping what he meant. Uncle Tiger closed his eyes mysteriously and fell silent.
This piqued my curiosity. I got out of bed and approached him, pressing for clarification on his statement.
Seeing my eagerness, Uncle Tiger didn’t keep me guessing any longer and asked, "Wang Niu, have you noticed any similarities between Aunt A-Yao and the female corpse from the Funeral Home?"
I paused for a moment; on the surface, these two cases seemed unrelated but were actually both quite bizarre—one strange occurrence compounded by another.
Paper Man, Soul Binding Technique, pregnant corpses, Ghost Child...
I quickly voiced my observations. Uncle Tiger nodded in satisfaction and continued, "These Evil Arts all originate from the Underworld."
"Uncle, what is the Underworld?" I asked curiously.
Uncle Tiger stood up and looked sharply out the window as he said, "The Underworld is one of the most sinister and malevolent realms of dark arts. The beings there are half-human and half-ghosts; they associate with Five Poisons, consume human blood, steal souls—utterly devoid of conscience!"
"You mean to say that the murderer is from the Underworld?" I pressed further.
Uncle Tiger shook his head and returned his gaze to me. "Not necessarily. But it’s definitely related to the Underworld. Perhaps the crime scene will reveal some truths."
I suddenly felt energized and tentatively asked, "Uncle Tiger, should we go check out the crime scene tonight?"
Uncle Tiger jokingly asked if I wasn’t afraid of losing my life by going there.
I hesitated for a moment but then replied confidently, "With you around, even Yama would give us some leeway!"
His words made Uncle Tiger laugh heartily as he remarked on when I had become such a flatterer.
After our lighthearted exchange, Uncle Tiger became serious again. "We can't go tonight; it's Seven Yin Night. Not only does Yin Qi surge dramatically during this time but many malevolent entities also emerge. There must be something significant at that crime scene—the Ghost Child within the corpse is proof of that. Only in equal magnetic fields can a Ghost Child form."
I pondered over Uncle Tiger's words and asked, "What about the female corpse from the Funeral Home? Will she also be affected?"
Uncle Tiger reassured me not to worry too much; the female corpse was covered by a Shroud and should be fine.
Hearing this calmed my nerves somewhat. Over the next few days, Uncle Tiger and I stayed at our residence while I kept in touch with A-Yao. Fortunately, she was safe but busy with her aunt's affairs. Meanwhile, Captain Wu frequently visited us with bizarre cases he wanted Uncle Tiger to help him solve.
I couldn't help but feel frustrated; there was still no lead on Aunt A-Yao’s case. I wondered if Captain Wu was deceiving us.
On the last day of our waiting period, Captain Wu suddenly sent me a video claiming it contained information about Aunt A-Yao.
Eagerly opening it alongside Uncle Tiger, we saw a tall man whose face was turned away from the camera. When Aunt A-Yao appeared in the video and embraced him warmly, it seemed their relationship was very close—just as A-Yao had described. However, after watching through it all without finding anything useful left me feeling disappointed.
Suddenly Uncle Tiger pointed at the screen and said urgently, "Wang Niu! Rewind a few seconds!"
I blinked in confusion but followed his instructions. As I rewound it back a few seconds just in time to see the man turn slightly; although his face wasn't fully visible, there was a lotus pattern on his left temple.
Excitedly I exclaimed to Uncle Tiger: "Look! That person has a lotus pattern! If we ask Captain Wu to find someone with that mark on their face, we could identify who he is!"
Uncle Tiger acknowledged my observation but his expression remained grave rather than joyful.
I hesitated before asking what was wrong. He dismissed it as nothing but his serious demeanor deepened further; I decided not to press him further.
That evening Uncle Tiger woke me up saying it was time for serious business. I nodded in agreement and followed him outside.
Using an address provided by Captain Wu we arrived at the crime scene which was eerily quiet despite being in an urban area—I shivered involuntarily and instinctively asked Uncle Tiger what was going on; it felt so strange.
Uncle Tiger cautiously surveyed our surroundings before replying: "This is Ghostly Aura muffling sound; the magnetic field here has changed drastically—it’s unnatural."
After speaking he took out a talisman from his pocket and folded it into a small triangle shape which he handed to me instructing me not to drop it under any circumstances. I nodded affirmatively as I held onto it tightly.
Together we gazed at the darkened villa ahead of us which gave off an ominous vibe—the victim had died on its second floor.
However all doors and windows were boarded up tightly making entry difficult.
I asked Uncle Tiger what we should do next?
He told me not to rush things just yet and began circling around the villa. Suddenly he seemed to notice something unusual and beckoned me over excitedly.
Running up beside him I followed his gaze towards an odd spot at one corner of the villa—a piece of red wood had been inserted into its wall instead of cement bricks based on marks left behind indicating recent work done.
Staring at this wooden piece embedded in the wall felt jarring somehow.
Uncle Tiger clearly noticed this too as he muttered something incomprehensible before saying: “Wang Niu! This red wood against moonlight likely invites spirits into this house—it’s probably more than just red wood.”
As soon as he finished speaking sparks began appearing on that Solid Wood accompanied by black smoke seeping outwards.
Suddenly Uncle Tiger stepped back several paces before kicking hard against Solid Wood—strangely enough with a loud bang Solid Wood detached from its place revealing a large hole before us!
To our shock we discovered that this wood was actually part of a coffin!
I immediately alerted Uncle Tiger about this discovery.
Calmly unfazed by my alarmed reaction he ignored that coffin entirely instead walking straight through into the villa—I followed closely behind him without hesitation.
What surprised me even more upon entering was finding numerous coffins lined up inside—a sight so shocking within an otherwise normal villa!
"Uncle! This is terrifying!" Unable to contain my astonishment I blurted out loud.
Uncle Tiger remarked: “Hmm…looks like someone is plotting something.”
He then approached one coffin opening its lid revealing an increasingly grim expression on his face as he did so.
Curious myself I moved closer peering inside only to find Dead Infants lying within!
My complexion instantly paled at this horrifying sight!
Uncle Tiger glanced over at me reassuringly saying there’s no need for fear.
I nodded slightly still shaken by what we’d uncovered thus far—together we proceeded opening all remaining coffins discovering each contained decaying Dead Infants inside them!
Pointing towards one coffin near where we entered Uncle Tiger stated: “Wang Niu! Look! Only that coffin is empty while all others hold Dead Infants—do you know what this means?”
Embarrassedly shaking my head no he explained: “That empty coffin is known as Yin Coffin or Mother Coffin while those containing Dead Infants are called Child Coffins—they draw Yin essence from Mother Coffin which comes from moonlight energy transferring into Child Coffins until enough essence accumulates causing Dead Infants within them eventually transforming into Ghost Children! Clearly someone has turned this place into breeding ground for ghosts!”
Pausing momentarily swallowing hard I asked if we should continue upstairs?
Glancing upwards toward second floor he replied: “No need—the second floor will likely resemble this one too—Wang Niu! Capture images of this scene then send them over to Captain Wu.”
I agreed promptly pulling out my phone snapping multiple pictures before preparing alongside Uncle Tiger to exit villa when suddenly laughter echoed down from above us on second floor!
