I took the photo and glanced at it, saying, "Yes, this is the person." 0

Fatty Zhang's expression changed as he asked, "Is he not dead yet?" 0

Fatty Zhang asked with a questioning tone, and I thought to myself, how would I know if he was dead or not? After a moment of silence, I replied to Fatty Zhang, "Do you know him?" 0

Fatty Zhang said he didn't. 0

I was speechless... 0

You don't recognize where the photo came from? Fatty Zhang quickly added that he found it in my backpack. I was taken aback. "Are you serious?" I asked. Fatty Zhang insisted that it was indeed from my backpack. 0

"Isn't there a booklet in your bag?" 0

There was indeed a booklet. Once I regained my composure, I said to Fatty Zhang, "Why were you rummaging through my bag?" This bastard had hurt me so badly and didn't even take me to the hospital. 0

At that moment, I glanced out the window and realized we were still in a desolate area. I asked Fatty Zhang, "What kind of place is this?" 0

Fatty Zhang replied, "I have no idea." This Fatty Zhang really knew nothing. 0

After a pause, Fatty Zhang said, "Let's head back now." He pressed the gas pedal and drove towards the city. 0

In the car, I confronted Fatty Zhang, "What exactly was your purpose in coming to Zhang Family Village? Fatty Zhang, are you trying to get me killed?" 0

Fatty Zhang responded, "If I wanted to kill you, why would I bother saving you and bandaging your wounds? It's just that there are some things I can't find, but you might be able to." 0

I asked, "What things?" 0

Fatty Zhang said, "Like the Wood Block in your backpack." As soon as he mentioned the Wood Block, an image flashed in my mind. I immediately asked Fatty Zhang, "What does that pattern mean?" 0

Fatty Zhang chuckled and then handed me a cigarette. I took it and said to him, "Don't try to fool me, Fatty Zhang. If things aren't clear, I won't end up well, and your fate won't be much better." 0

Fatty Zhang glanced at me, the car speeding up again. He replied, "Chen Fei, I don't know either! A lot of things have me feeling like a headless chicken." He looked quite innocent at that moment. 0

I said to Fatty Zhang, "Just tell me everything you know." 0

He responded, "I know that if the pattern on this wooden board is enlarged, it will definitely lead to unexpected discoveries." I looked at him suspiciously and asked, "How do you know that?" 0

Fatty Zhang said, "If you don't believe me, just take a look at the Wood Block yourself. If you look closely, you might see it too." 0

At that moment, I was filled with confusion about that number and the pattern. Listening to Fatty Zhang's words, I quickly took out the Wood Block. 0

I examined the pattern on the Wood Block closely for a while but couldn't find any clues. Just as I was about to ask Fatty Zhang, he suddenly asked me, "Chen Fei, do you want to sleep?" 0

I was momentarily stunned and didn't understand what he meant. But in the next second, I felt a heavy blow to my neck. Instantly, I blacked out. 0

When I woke up again, it was already evening. 0

At that moment, I smelled a pungent odor of Toxic Water. Looking around, I quickly realized that I was now in a hospital. 0

I called out for Fatty Zhang. Damn it! How could that bastard knock me out like that? In the ward, there were two beds; one was occupied while the other was empty. 0

I was hooked up to an IV drip, and my wound had been rebandaged. After calling for Fatty Zhang with no response, I had no choice but to call for a nurse. Not long after my call, a young nurse who looked about seventeen or eighteen rushed in and asked me, "Sir, where do you feel uncomfortable?" 0

I glanced at her and asked, "Who brought me to the hospital?" 0

The nurse replied, "It was your friend. He went out to buy you dinner and told you to wait." 0

I acknowledged her with an "oh" and thanked her. She then asked if I felt any discomfort. I said no and she instructed me to press the button by the bed if I felt anything unusual. 0

After she left, I thought that Fatty Zhang still had some conscience for knowing to get me food. I pulled out my phone to check the time; it was seven-thirty in the evening. Around eight o'clock, someone came into the ward. At first, I thought it was Fatty Zhang, but then I realized it wasn't him—it was Gao Ling. 0

I was somewhat surprised to see Gao Ling and said, "What are you doing here?" 0

Gao Ling replied, "I was wondering how you ended up as an injured person after just going home." I didn't know how to explain it to Gao Ling, so I decided not to. 0

I asked Gao Ling, "Was it a fat guy who brought me here?" 0

Gao Ling said, "No, it was me. Someone called me using your phone. You were unconscious outside my building. When I went downstairs, I found you lying on the ground. I didn't hesitate for a second and took you straight to the hospital." 0

After hearing Gao Ling's words, I couldn't help but curse Fatty Zhang. Gao Ling asked who Fatty Zhang was, and I replied that he was just a jerk. 0

Gao Ling said, "He didn't do this to you, did he? Tell me who it is; I'll help you get back at them." 0

I told Gao Ling that it was nothing serious. My emotions had calmed down a bit by then. 0

Gao Ling handed me some food, and I started eating. However, after just one bite, the door to the ward burst open with a loud bang. A woman in a hospital gown rushed in, shouting, "Have you seen my child?" 0

We were momentarily stunned and then replied, "No." 0

She dashed around searching but found nothing. Just then, a nurse rushed in and said, "Ms. Fan, your child is not here." 0

Ms. Fan apologized to us and left. 0

Once Ms. Fan was gone, the previous nurse let out a long sigh. 0

Gao Ling remarked, "That woman seemed a bit off earlier!" 0

The nurse sighed again and said, "Her child died in the hospital." 0

"Died? How did that happen?" Gao Ling asked. 0

The nurse glanced outside the door and then walked over to close the ward door. She approached me with a mysterious expression and said, "I'm telling you this; you mustn't go outside." 0

I let out a sound of agreement, and Gao Ling nodded as well. The nurse said, "Recently, I don't know if it's some kind of bad luck at the hospital, but several newborns have died. It's been happening for over a week now. You can't tell me that's normal. Even experienced doctors with decades of delivery experience have lost several babies recently." 0

I asked, "Could it be due to difficult births?" 0

The nurse replied, "One or two might be, but so many dying in succession? That can't just be difficult births. However, to avoid family members causing a scene, they usually label it as such. But that Ms. Fan insists her baby is alive. That's why she keeps searching, even after three or four times. But the baby is already dead; no matter how much she looks, she won't find anything." 0

Gao Ling deliberately said, "Have you watched too many movies? Where are the ghosts in this world?" 0

The nurse glanced at Gao Ling and said, "Oh? How do you know I've been watching? I recently read a ghost story called 'Living Funeral' by an author named Age. It was quite good." She paused, her voice turning somber as she continued, "But what’s happening in this hospital is really not like what’s written in those stories; it’s much creepier." 0

I set my food down and asked, "These babies didn’t have any issues during prenatal checks, right?" 0

The nurse replied, "No, there were no problems at all. Otherwise, it would be eerie!" Just then, the door was pushed open, and a head popped in, calling out, "Wang Yan, stop chatting! The patient in the next room needs your care." 0

Nurse Wang Yan quickly hushed us and said, "Okay, I'll be right there." As she left, she warned us, "You must not tell anyone about this!" 0

Gao Ling and I both assured her we wouldn’t say a word. Once Wang Yan was gone, Gao Ling asked if the hospital was really that eerie. 0

I replied, "If you ask me, who should I ask?" Just as I finished speaking, the door to the room creaked open suddenly. 0
