Living Funeral
Gao Ling said, "No way, how is that possible?" Clearly, she hadn't seen it, and her tone was filled with surprise.
I didn't dwell on the issue for too long; it was just that the dead girl had no eyes, and the stray dog from earlier also lacked eyes. Could there be a connection between the two?
After experiencing that farce, I realized that Gao Ling was unreliable. What she had done today was simply absurd. I nearly lost my life because of it.
However, I had a feeling that we were already entangled with something unclean.
I returned to my room and wasted no time. I quickly lit incense for the Urn, but once it burned out, a chill settled in my heart.
The result was still two short and one long, which indicated bad omens.
I didn't know who to trust anymore; I thought it might be best to leave this place as soon as possible.
What had happened over there with Zhang Xun and Old Wang? And why was I considered a substitute for death?
And now this troubling incident had occurred here as well.
Damn it, just when one wave subsides, another rises! Suddenly, I felt compelled to open Zhang Xun's Pouch. My hand reached in, but after struggling for a moment, I pulled it back out.
I wasn't at my final moment yet, so perhaps it was best not to open it...
Deep down, I still wanted to believe in Zhang Xun.
Gao Ling called out from outside, asking if I was going to take a shower.
I replied with a sound of acknowledgment, opened my door, quickly took a shower, and then lay down on my bed. It was nearly one in the morning, and the scent of Joss Paper and incense still lingered in the room.
Tonight, the incense burned into two short sticks and one long one, making it impossible for me to sleep. I stayed awake until around one-thirty when I suddenly heard someone call my name.
I looked around, but saw nothing.
Not long after, I heard someone singing, and it sounded like a man's voice.
Could this be the male ghost that Gao Ling mentioned? This male ghost could very well be the murderer who killed the girl. Is he coming for me now?
Thinking this, I immediately sat up in bed. Damn it, what kind of place is this? Ever since Old Wang brought me here, strange things have been happening non-stop.
I turned on the light and glanced at myself in the mirror. My face was as pale as a sheet; if this continued, I would really go insane.
At that moment, the singing seemed to have stopped. I was on edge and didn’t dare to sleep all night.
By three or four in the morning, I had smoked several cigarettes.
Then suddenly, I heard a tapping sound on the glass...
Damn it! I was terrified; after all, I lived on the fourth floor! Who the hell could be tapping on my window? Unless it was a ghost.
I didn’t dare to turn my head, but through the mirror, I could already see a shadow outside the glass...
My breathing quickened, and I felt a chill run down my spine.
I threw the cigarette butt onto the floor, and as the ember extinguished, the light bulb in the room started flickering erratically.
A chilling atmosphere enveloped me...
I finally couldn't hold back any longer and turned to look.
All I could hear was her voice, pleading, "Help me, please help me..." It was filled with despair and sorrow.
I gazed at the Ghost Shadow floating outside the glass. I recognized her immediately; she was the girl I had encountered on the road that night. Now that she was closer, I was certain she was the corpse I had buried...
She had truly turned into a ghost...
And how could I even see a ghost? My heart raced as an ominous feeling washed over me.
"Please help me... I'm begging you..." she continued.
She had been blind in life, and there was a high possibility she had become a ghost after death. Moreover, when I buried her tonight, it had been done hastily without any proper rituals.
At that moment, every pore in my body opened up, absorbing the sensation of fear.
After more than a minute, I finally managed to calm myself and asked, "How can I save you?" My words came out quickly and nervously.
My palms were slick with cold sweat.
Suddenly, she asked me, "Can I come in?"
I thought to myself: Of course you can't come in! But she only asked me that one question before trying to enter on her own. However, just as she stepped inside, she let out a ghostly wail and floated back out.
"Ah..."
She suddenly seemed to become terrified, letting out a scream while mumbling something about being offended, apologizing for the offense.
I asked, "What's wrong? Are you talking to me?"
At that moment, her face turned pale, and I noticed blood starting to flow from her pupils. Seeing such a scene in the dead of night was truly unsettling, and blood was seeping from her forehead as well...
Suddenly, she knelt down and said, "Please help me; I was murdered."
I replied, "Weren't you strangled by a ghost?"
"Yes," she said. "It’s still attached to someone else now. It will keep searching for me and will drive me to despair. Please, just save me..."
In situations like this, I felt utterly helpless. I knew nothing about such matters, and going in without knowledge could lead to my own demise. So I directly said, "I can't help you; try someone else."
But she insisted that I could help her. Then she added, "I can sense its presence on you; you might have become its target too."
I asked, "Who is it?"
But the girl shook her head, saying she didn't know. However, she believed she could track it by its aura. Just then, there was a knock at the door.
I immediately became alert.
"Fei, are you talking in your sleep?" came the voice of Gao Ling from outside.
I replied that I wasn't asleep yet. Gao Ling urged me to go to bed early while the girl continued to stare at me, waiting for my response.
I shook my head again, indicating that she needed to resolve this on her own.
But the girl suddenly changed her tone and said, "You can't just leave my body out in the wild!"
I replied, "Haven't I already buried you properly?"
The girl retorted, "Just go see for yourself. If you don't let me rest in peace, I won't let you have it easy either." With that, she vanished.
A heavy feeling settled in my heart.
An ominous premonition surfaced in my mind. Was my body really left out there? I sat quietly for a moment, my thoughts swirling.
But I quickly figured it out; it had to be that bastard Zhao Fan who dug up the corpse. Someone who runs a Black Workshop is bound to have a darker heart. He probably took the coffin too.
Damn it, wasn't this just ruining me? I opened the door to leave, but when I did, my heart nearly leaped out of my chest.
There stood Gao Ling at my doorstep, playing with his phone.
What the hell, I ran into him right away.
The living room lights were all off, with only the glow of his phone illuminating his face. I glared at Gao Ling and said, "What the hell are you doing?"
I was a bit angry.
This guy was definitely eavesdropping on me.
Gao Ling replied, "Nothing much, just wanted to hear your nonsense."
I cursed him as a lunatic. With his interruption, I almost forgot about the important matter at hand. I told Gao Ling, "Let's go to where the body is buried right now."
It was three-thirty in the morning.
Gao Ling asked me what was wrong.
I returned to the house and strapped the Urn onto my back. I said to Gao Ling, "Damn it, what kind of person do you know? Damn it, that bastard isn't even human; he dug up the corpse."
As soon as I finished speaking, Gao Ling's expression changed. "No way!"
I didn't want to waste any more time; we needed to see for ourselves.
Gao Ling and I got into the car and headed towards the Black Workshop. Damn it, some people are truly worse than animals; they dare to profit from anything.
When we arrived at the Black Workshop, we drove about a mile forward. This was where the body had been buried. Sure enough, when we got there, the grave had been dug up. As I leaned in for a closer look, the coffin was indeed gone, leaving only a corpse in the pit...
Gao Ling immediately started cursing, calling Zhao Fan a worthless piece of trash.
I was even more bewildered. I felt like misfortune was about to strike; I feared I would be tied to this corpse in some way...
"What do we do now?" Gao Ling asked.
I swallowed hard, feeling my scalp tingle and my heart race. At that moment, I sensed that someone was watching me. Perhaps it was the owner of those eyes belonging to the ghostly woman from earlier, but she didn't even have eyes...
