Chapter 5: Sword Training and Assistance
To be honest, watching the Crystal Dragon BSS undergo such transformations, Lian Yun felt a twinge of sympathy. If they were going to kill it, why not just do it directly? There was no need for such cruelty, even if it was a type of Chaos Beast.
However, Lian Yun naturally wouldn’t stop Xiao Jun from practicing his swordsmanship. Ordinary mid to high-level Supreme Chaos Beasts might not withstand his attacks, but only this exceptionally sturdy Crystal Dragon was suitable as a sparring partner for Xiao Jun.
Before long, the Crystal Dragon BSS met its end. For some reason, Lian Yun felt as if he heard a sigh of relief.
Although the deceased Crystal Dragon BSS was intact, its body was riddled with holes, having lost at least half of its mass. After death, it began to fade away, leaving behind several large crystals and dozens of crystal orbs.
Lian Yun picked up one of the crystal orbs and looked at it in surprise before glancing at Xiao Jun with a mix of amazement and disbelief.
These orbs should have been large crystals; they were merely compressed into smaller forms.
Suddenly intrigued, Lian Yun realized that although he hadn’t challenged many Dungeons, he knew that they typically didn’t yield much in terms of loot—mainly rewards for clearing them. However, in this Dungeon, known as Yaochi, every Chaos Beast dropped crystals, which was quite unusual. Perhaps these crystals had special uses.
The two entered the next level through a portal revealed by the death of the Crystal Dragon BSS. They found themselves in a light blue Crystal Cave, where their opponents were also crystal dragons—only these were light blue and stood about two and a half meters tall but possessed the strength of a High Emperor.
At this point, even Xiao Jun couldn’t defeat them with a single strike—at least not with his usual attacks.
Meanwhile, Lian Yun wouldn’t remain idle; he began to study Xiao Jun’s sword techniques in hopes of acquiring more crystal orbs.
However, after trying several times, Lian Yun realized that Xiao Jun’s swordsmanship wasn’t suited for him at the moment. He then switched to using a combination of spatial tearing and vibration techniques. This method proved more effective in terms of damage compared to Xiao Jun, but yielded only some crystal shards.
The shards looked almost identical to the previous crystals, and when combined, they amounted to slightly more than what he had obtained from the earlier crystal dragon. Still, Lian Yun didn’t attribute this increase to his own attack effectiveness; rather, he believed it was simply because the crystal dragons in this second layer were stronger than those in the first layer.
While Xiao Jun continued practicing his whimsical sword techniques, Lian Yun decided to leave two of the dragons for him to play with after taking down several others.
Despite both appearing exceptionally relaxed, the truth was that their overwhelming strength made things seem easy.
Even among those ranked three to ten on the Top Ten Kings Ranking List, two people like them would likely stall here.
Moreover, they were only on the second layer. Based on Lian Yun’s estimates, this Dungeon likely had at least three layers. If ordinary monsters here were at the level of a High Emperor, then the BSS would be at the level of a Top Emperor. The ordinary monsters on the third layer would probably be at that same level while the BSS might possess strength akin to that of a Peerless Monarch.
If that were true, then Lian Yun truly lacked confidence in clearing this dungeon.
However, Lian Yun did not think much of it and allowed Xiao Jun to fight alone. Instead, he pondered how he and Xiao Jun could cooperate to complement each other's strengths effectively.
Although he did not yet know the full extent of Xiao Jun's abilities, Lian Yun sensed that most of Xiao Jun's attacks were powerful single-target strikes.
Thus, the only thing Lian Yun could do was to provide support, ensuring that Xiao Jun had enough energy.
Next, after Xiao Jun killed two or defeated the two Crystal Dragons, the situation below was not much different from the first level; they would encounter several Crystal Dragons after walking a short distance.
In the second and third waves, Lian Yun would first eliminate two or three dragons and then leave two for Xiao Jun to handle.
However, during the fourth wave, just as Lian Yun killed one dragon, he noticed that the remaining four Crystal Dragons suddenly froze in place, their bodies showing signs of slowly disintegrating.
This... this is mastering the sword technique.
Lian Yun felt a mix of surprise and admiration, thinking to himself that it was no wonder someone with Xian Jianxin had such profound comprehension of swordsmanship.
Once the four intact Crystal Dragons completely disintegrated, they left behind several complete crystal fragments. However, overall, it did not exceed the number Lian Yun had killed.
In the fifth wave, all five Crystal Dragons were swiftly eliminated by Xiao Jun. By the sixth wave, Xiao Jun employed a different sword technique.
With a single strike, the entire Crystal Cave seemed to lose all its brilliance. When light returned, five Crystal Dragons appeared with unnatural angles in their bodies, as if they had intended to slice their opponent in half but failed due to an overly strong defense.
Yet, the five fallen Crystal Dragons were momentarily incapacitated, struggling but unable to rise.
Lian Yun did not intervene to finish them off.
Xiao Jun then asked, "Brother Yun, what do you think of this sword technique?"
"What do you believe it should be, Brother Xiao?" Lian Yun replied.
"It does not belong to the earth."
This likely meant a complete separation from the ground. Lian Yun nodded but then shook his head and said, "Brother Xiao must already have something in mind."
Xiao Jun nodded in agreement and fell silent, refraining from further attacks as they waited for the five Crystal Dragons to recover.
The question just asked seemed to be merely an attempt to converse with Lian Yun. What he wanted to know was the effect of extending the Void.
Soon, after Xiao Jun defeated the last two waves of Crystal Dragons, they encountered the BSS of the second layer.
It was still a Crystal Dragon covered in sharp crystals, standing only two meters tall, its slender form hardly inspiring any joy in Lian Yun. The increase in strength and change in size meant that the defenses and attacks of the Crystal Dragon BSS had been greatly enhanced.
However, after casting a glance at Xiao Jun, Lian Yun's expression darkened. He stepped aside and took out some Diamond Spirit Coins, Mental Potions, and Withered Glory.
With a flick of his fingers, twelve Spiritual Energy Greatswords floated into the air. Then, with Dancing with Demons activated, the number of Greatswords under Lian Yun's control increased to twelve.
Although Lian Yun had not previously experimented much with wielding more Spiritual Energy Greatswords, things were different now. In the past, he had to forcefully control them; now, after practicing countless sword techniques, he could easily apply a set of techniques to a single Greatsword, making control much simpler.
Moreover, his mental strength was greater than ever before. This time, Lian Yun unleashed over a thousand Vitality Greatswords in one breath.
As Xiao Jun had mentioned during their time at the Xianjian Sect, he and Lian Yun could communicate telepathically.
So when Lian Yun summoned a total of one thousand and eight Greatswords, Xiao Jun immediately launched an attack against the Crystal Dragon BSS.
