Chapter 00: Gathering of the Thousand Monarchs
"Three hundred ordinary, thirty exquisite, and one Supreme item, which is among the top ten of this auction." The woman introduced herself, wiping her forehead with a hint of nervousness.
What she meant was that the average person would not seek more than ten items, so the Treasure Alliance had three hundred Common Soul Swords, which she believed could satisfy anyone's needs. However, judging by Lian Yun's demeanor, it seemed that what Lian Yun sought was beyond what an ordinary person could measure.
Worried about making a mistake and displeasing the esteemed guest, her heart began to feel uneasy.
At that moment, Azure Drift smiled slightly and said, "Then bring them all! We will settle the payment later."
"Understood, I will fetch them right away!" Seeing that the esteemed guest had relieved her of her worries, the woman dared not delay and quickly turned to run.
Lian Yun was momentarily taken aback but then nodded with a hint of regret before continuing to observe the Treasure Mirror.
However, Lian Yun's expression piqued the curiosity of Azure Drift, Meng Yixuan, and the general. Yet seeing Lian Yun so engrossed in 'reading,' they chose not to interrupt.
Soon, the woman returned and handed over a black bracelet. "Three hundred ordinary Soul Sword Cores and thirty exquisite Soul Sword Cores for your inspection."
Soul Artifacts differ from physical items; they can be stored using special objects that exist like Ghost Groups.
Lian Yun set down the Treasure Mirror and asked with some regret, "Is it possible to borrow this Treasure Mirror?"
"This..."
"Young Master Yun should not make things difficult for this young lady. We can view this Treasure Mirror as a courtesy to my sister; there is no reason for borrowing it."
Lian Yun nodded in disappointment because the Treasure Mirror contained very detailed descriptions of treasures. Reading this book would essentially mean becoming familiar with all the treasures within Yin Yang City.
However, Lian Yun found himself short on time, which was why he wanted to borrow the book to read.
Realizing that his request might be a bit excessive, Lian Yun nodded apologetically at the woman, then closed the book and took out a handful of Soul Sword Cores with the bracelet he wore. He didn’t examine them closely but instead pressed them against the hilt of his Wutai Sword at his waist.
It was merely a simple 'binding' process, something he would refine and integrate later.
Lian Yun worked quickly, and before long, he had processed three hundred thirty Sword Soul embryos, leaving the general and others in stunned silence.
Just as they were about to speak, a Manager arrived at the entrance to announce that Lan Ruoxuan was to take the stage.
After all, the main purpose of this auction by the Treasure Alliance was to provide some individuals with their final preparations before battle, hoping that certain items could fetch higher prices. Thus, any last-minute adjustments felt somewhat rushed.
However, Lan Ruoxuan emerged at just the right moment. A calm and unyielding aura radiated from her, drawing even Lian Yun’s gaze for a few moments.
Yet everyone remained silent, afraid to disturb her tranquility.
Upon seeing Lan Ruoxuan appear, the Manager waved his hand, signaling four stunning attendants behind him to surround Lan Ruoxuan, each holding an Artifact, seemingly isolating her completely.
Then Lan Ruoxuan moved forward, with Azure Drift leading Lian Yun and the others closely behind.
It felt as though they were walking down a private passageway, encountering no outsiders along the way. After passing through a door, Lan Ruoxuan, flanked by the four women, ascended onto a high platform behind an antique screen. More accurately, she entered between four screens.
Meanwhile, under Azure Drift’s guidance, Lian Yun approached the front of the stage but moved to a corner. It seemed that no one was allowed near the screens.
In the center of the platform, Qian Duoduo, after bowing respectfully to Azure Drift, spoke loudly: “Ladies and gentlemen, I won’t need to introduce myself as Qian Duoduo. However, I wish to remind you of Lan Ruoxuan’s character; I wonder how many of you remember that she strives for perfection and will not step onto the stage if there is even a slight flaw in her mindset.”
"Would you rather speculate that your strength has declined after years of seclusion, or cherish this rare opportunity? I urge you all to consider carefully!"
Qian Duoduo then bowed towards the stage and joyfully ran over to Lian Yun. She plopped down beside Lian Yun, nudging her closer to Meng Yixuan, and said, "My apologies, young sir, but this is quite a rare occasion!"
This drew the ire of countless young people.
However, Lian Yun did not seem to mind; she sat upright. Meng Yixuan also appeared unbothered and chuckled softly, "This place is specially reserved by the Treasure Alliance for our Azure Pavilion. It is no different from listening directly."
Under the strong insistence of Azure Drift, the general took a seat on the Meditation Cushion, sitting upright like a celestial being, though his expression showed some displeasure.
At this moment, Lian Yun surveyed the entire venue.
The venue was filled with around ten thousand people, silent except for the sound of countless Spirit Coins rubbing against each other.
Lian Yun noticed that on some round tables, individuals were busy pouring bags of White Spirit Coins into the center of the table. She also saw several tables where Diamond Spirit Coins were being tossed out one by one. As these people moved, their tables and chairs shifted automatically, either forward or backward.
Everyone moved silently, yet the shifting of tables and chairs was swift, creating a dizzying effect.
However, the movement soon stabilized. The last few dozen rows of chairs remained mostly still, while the middle section—twenty-some rows of long benches—showed some signs of movement but not frequently.
Then there were twenty rows of round tables, each with thirty tables accommodating about four to five people each. Each table had at least one Monarch present.
There were over six hundred Monarchs here.
Previously, there were ten rows with thirty box-like areas; each area also had at least one Monarch between them. This accounted for over three hundred Monarchs. Altogether, there were already over a thousand Monarchs present.
The last row closest to Lan Ruoxuan had only three enormous Meditation Cushions. These cushions were large enough to accommodate a dozen people, but among the three, the first one was occupied by just one person—a burly middle-aged Bald Giant, whose bare arms were covered in wounds, looking quite pitiful.
In the middle position sat an Elder in Daoist Robes alongside a young boy and a girl. The third spot was taken by a middle-aged man clad in a Dragon Robe and the Qin Young Master whom Lian Yun had seen before.
The positions of the three parties were already fixed, yet they continued to toss Diamond Spirit Coins rapidly, each coin flying toward the center of the Meditation Cushions.
Soon, the Bald Giant seemed to be at his wit's end and expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, "Old Daoist, Old Qin, look at me like this—can't you let me have just one chance?"
"Haha! Such a rare opportunity; how can we let two young ones miss out?"
"You, Old Insect Emperor, are also a Peerless Monarch of your generation. Why do you have to compete with a few juniors for opportunities?"
"Old Qin, your position isn't as good as you think. Do me a favor, and I'll let all three kids stay in the middle."
"If your Insect Qi explodes, wouldn't that be disastrous?"
"Don't worry, Insect Emperor. If Lan Ruoxuan's strength surpasses what it was before, your position will still be excellent."
