Chapter 194: A Remarkable Coincidence
Although Lian Yun was aware of the privileges that came with being a Third-Class Imperial Citizen, it wasn't until he completed the procedures at the Post Station that he realized he could apply for a temporary stay of three halves at a time. The duration of his mission was equivalent to that of a Citizen, with no reduction in time, but he could only apply for this once a week.
This was already a significant convenience, and as his status level increased, so too would his privileges. He believed that unrestricted access to the Twelve Cities would soon be within reach.
After completing the formalities, Lian Yun initially planned to visit the Blacksmith Shop in Chang'an City. However, considering that he might be asked to stay and learn afterward, he decided to set that plan aside for the time being.
Instead, he began to stroll around the Central Square of Chang'an City.
The Central Square of Chang'an City had likely been similar to that of Xianyang City in the past, bustling with street vendors. However, today it was somewhat different; upon his arrival, Lian Yun noticed that the Central Square of Xianyang City had many more Arenas.
Chang'an City was no exception.
Even without any related news, Lian Yun understood the reason behind this: some solitary Monarchs were selecting assistants to enter the Year Beast Secret Realm.
Logically speaking, Lian Yun should have gone to watch the Arena in Xianyang City since those who challenged in the Arena could very well become his future opponents. However, with the presence of Cloud Realm, Lian Yun believed they would gather relevant information for him.
Perhaps due to the rarity of such opportunities, Lian Yun heard many exclamations from those familiar with Chang'an City as he walked around. He learned that many of those stepping onto the stage were individuals with deep-seated abilities, now showcasing extraordinary combat prowess.
However, even ordinary Monarchs, including Lone Rangers, typically had their own channels. Thus, most Monarchs returning to set up Arenas were either testing their followers' strength or seeking to refine their skills further.
As such, these Arenas were unlikely to cease until the last couple of rounds.
Lian Yun took his time and leisurely observed each Arena one by one, learning and comprehending as he went along.
As he continued walking, a figure suddenly caught his eye. This left Lian Yun puzzled at first, then bewildered, and finally filled with inexplicable joy.
He saw a girl around six or seven years old carrying a long stick and a short gun on her back while holding a basket in one hand. She was tearing into a piece of Pig's Trotter and shouting excitedly, "Hit him! Kick him! Good job!"
Her words were somewhat crude and her voice childlike, yet the scene was quite amusing.
Interestingly enough, perhaps due to her excitement, her body swayed from side to side. The long stick and short gun on her back swung back and forth, causing those around her to instinctively step back and making her stand out like a crane among chickens.
However, not only was there no sound of discontent from the crowd, but most people seemed to be admiring the scene rather than watching the battle in the Arena.
In the eyes of those around, a rather handsome young man had inexplicably appeared beside the girl. It seemed as if he had materialized out of thin air, and upon his arrival, he shamelessly reached into the girl's basket and took a piece of chicken leg, starting to eat it.
The girl was momentarily stunned, her mouth agape as if she had encountered something unbelievable.
"Hey~~ who is this guy? He actually dares to take food from the Leader. He must be asking for trouble."
"Exactly! Although he seems quite capable, the Leader is backed by the entire Azure Pavilion!"
"Hehe! This is going to be interesting; everyone, keep quiet."
"Azure Pavilion, what a coincidence." Lian Yun thought to herself, realizing that she had encountered a general so soon. The saying about finding something after much effort truly applied here; it had come without any trouble at all.
"Who are you? How dare you eat my food? Do you believe I won't hit you?"
"Pfft~~" Lian Yun didn't expect the general to respond with such a line. She couldn't help but laugh and said, "Back in the day, you wanted to treat me well. Why are you threatening to hit me now just for a piece of chicken leg?"
Having unexpectedly met her only friend, Lian Yun felt a touch of childlike innocence return to her mood.
However, the general was taken aback, tilting her head in confusion. "Who are you? When did I ever say that? You better explain yourself clearly, or I might just hit you!"
To be honest, the general's features were exquisitely sculpted, and with such a 'dominant' remark, there was an undeniable charm that made it hard not to be drawn in.
Thus, while Lian Yun found it amusing, she couldn't help but reach out and ruffle the general's hair while feigning some sadness. "Ah, I can't believe after so many years apart, you don't even remember your little brother."
The general was on the verge of exploding with anger but was instantly dumbfounded upon hearing Lian Yun's words.
Although she often introduced herself as a general here, no one had ever called her that. Members of Azure Pavilion referred to her as Xin'er, while outsiders generally called her Leader.
So suddenly understanding that this person was not from Chang'an City and recognizing the familiarity in their words made her realize this must be someone she knew.
However, what truly left her astonished was the term "brother."
Although she was somewhat unruly, she had only taken one disciple in her lifetime, and that was when he was just four or five years old. The General tilted his head to the side, a bit confused and uncertain, "Disciple? Is it you?"
"Of course it's me! Even though we only met once, you promised to treat me to delicious food, so don't go back on your word!" Lian Yun smiled and casually took a piece of meat from the General's basket, eating it without hesitation.
The General's eyes widened in disbelief once again, his mouth forming an 'O' shape. Suddenly coming to his senses, he began to bounce around Lian Yun, chattering excitedly, "Wow, disciple, it's really you! Wow wow wow, how did you grow so tall and big?"
In that moment, the General's eyes were filled with envy.
"It's been over ten years; isn't that normal? But what about you, General? Why do you still look the same?"
"I was deceived; I couldn't help it!"
The General immediately looked sorrowful and then quickly climbed onto Lian Yun's back. "No way! You're my disciple; you can't be taller than me."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Lian Yun said with a mix of amusement and exasperation. However, seeing the surrounding crowd staring in shock and more people gathering around, Lian Yun shook his head slightly and then swayed his body to leave the spot.
Then he arrived at the entrance of Azure Pavilion.
