Chapter 151: Farewell
When Lin Dong and Lin Xi arrived, the meal was almost ready, prepared by the daughters-in-law of the two elders themselves.
However, just as everyone was about to start eating, Grandma's arrival prompted everyone to stand up automatically. The three uncles welcomed Grandma to her seat, while Lian Yun, Lin Nan, and Lin Xiaoyao took their seats without hesitation. The several granddaughters-in-law were a bit conflicted, unsure whether to take their seats or not, feeling quite anxious.
Most of them had only seen Grandma once when they first entered the Lin family. Although Grandma had appeared kind at that time, not having seen her for many years made them feel uncertain about whether she would like them.
Moreover, they had prepared the meal themselves and were unsure if it would suit Grandma's taste.
"You children, why are you still standing? Sit down and eat," Grandma said with a smile.
This surprised Lin's three uncles, the three daughters-in-law, and Lian Yun.
It wasn't that they thought Grandma was difficult to get along with; rather, her smile seemed unusually cheerful. Except for Lian Yun, almost everyone felt that Grandma should be reluctant to see Lian Yun leave.
Thus, Grandma's smile was somewhat intriguing.
Nevertheless, her words made the granddaughters-in-law happy enough to sit down.
As they began eating, Grandma took a bite and then set down her chopsticks. This caused everyone to stop eating immediately, and several granddaughters-in-law even broke out in a cold sweat. However, they heard Grandma exclaim in admiration, "You children come from noble backgrounds yet can make such delicious food. The Lin family has not treated you well."
"We have not been mistreated at all! Our husbands and family have treated us very well. It is our honor to enter the Lin Clan," the granddaughters-in-law exclaimed excitedly, nearly brought to tears.
This left Grandma feeling somewhat uncomfortable but she still sighed and said, "Then I must have neglected you. I haven't taken the time to get to know you properly since you entered the family. In the future, if you have nothing to do, come sit in my courtyard and chat with me."
Several daughters-in-law of the Sun family nodded vigorously, too happy to speak. It was as if they had finally seen the moon after the clouds had cleared.
Thus, this meal was undoubtedly the happiest and most enjoyable one for the Lin Family in over a decade, with no trace of sadness in sending off Lian Yun and Lin Xiaoyao.
After the meal, Grandma did not leave immediately but stayed to chat with the women, while several of the men headed straight to the underground training room.
As soon as Lin Dong arrived, he asked, "Yun'er, I heard you're planning to establish a force. Do you need manpower or resources?"
"No need for resources. As for manpower, Master Pang has volunteered, and Grandma has also sent Liu Lao to help. There are no issues there. Moreover, Zhou Tong and the others are not inclined to rely on the Lin family's strength," Lian Yun replied with a slight smile.
"That's good to hear. However, if they need anything, let them speak up. Based on your assumptions, you don't have much time left to develop," Lin Dong advised.
"I'll discuss it with them, but ultimately it will be their choice!"
"How about a match between Yun'er and Uncle?" Lin Nan suggested.
Lian Yun nodded; there was nothing wrong with that.
The match lasted about half an hour before Lian Yun took her leave.
Afterward, Lin Dong looked at Lin Nan, whose clothes were slightly disheveled, and smiled, "So? Are you feeling more at ease now?"
Lin Nan chuckled, "Once I heard that Feather's General Yang Zai Xing was willing to follow Yun'er, I felt less worried. But after this match, I'm even more reassured. As long as Yun'er doesn't provoke any Half-Emperor Level Spirits, self-preservation shouldn't be a problem."
Lin Nan and Lin Xiaoyao had both been somewhat dumbfounded at first, but they quickly regained their composure. Lin Xiaoyao sighed a bit and said, "It's not wrong for me to think that as long as Yun doesn't worry about my safety, that's already good enough."
"Brother~~ do you have money~~"
"Nan, what do you need money for?"
"Of course to buy my brother's victory. Hehe~~ that Xue Qiong is doomed." Lin Nan wore a smug expression, only to be lightly tapped on the head by Lin Nan.
However, the three elders exchanged puzzled glances before quickly leaving to set the massive Lin Family machinery in motion.
As for Lian Yun, he first returned to his mother's courtyard to see Chen Er Gou's mother and sister.
Initially, Lian Yun only intended to pay a polite visit and did not want to disturb their reunion. However, it seemed that Chen Er Gou had no intention of staying long either; instead, he asked Lian Yun to take him to Ghost Street and Cloud Emperor Palace to say goodbye to Liu Haitao.
Lian Yun had no objections to this, and visiting Liu Haitao was something he needed to do anyway. Thus, Lian Yun set out, putting on his Mask as he headed towards Ghost Street.
The capital city was the center of the entire Land of Huaxia. Even during this time of global energy depletion, the capital remained a city that never slept. The nighttime Ghost Street was particularly lively because many Spirits would reveal their true natures at night, making it easier for people to discern good from evil.
Upon arriving at Ghost Street, Lian Yun wanted to avoid drawing attention, so he moved at a leisurely pace, discreetly making his way to Cloud Emperor Palace. There, he found Liu Haitao in a secret chamber.
Liu Haitao was naturally overjoyed at Lian Yun's arrival. The fact that Chen Er Gou had reached a high level in the King's Realm brought him some comfort and made him feel fortunate for Chen Er Gou. However, knowing that Chen Er Gou was there to say goodbye left him somewhat anxious.
Lian Yun didn't want to dwell on it too much but clarified his purpose for coming.
First, Lian Yun contacted Zhou Tong, Jiang Ao, and Murong Ying, allowing the four of them to get acquainted with each other. Then he turned to Zhou Tong and asked, "By the way, have you entered Fengdu Center yet?"
Zhou Tong nodded and replied, "Yes, we managed to retrieve that stone coffin. We also have about twenty thousand Ghost Group members."
"Well, I almost forgot about this. There might be some underground-dwelling Spirits in that Ghost Group, or some capable Spirits. Have someone send them to Uncle Zhang so he can take a look and then determine who should use them."
"By the way, I plan to send Liu Lao and Master Pang to your side!"
"Yes! I was already planning to invite Liu Lao over and prepare a Blood Spirit Fruit for him to try and break through at the stone coffin. If we have a Monarch overseeing us, it would certainly provide us with much more security. But who is Master Pang?"
"Pang Tong!"
Zhou Tong's expression immediately darkened. He wanted to compete with the Ancients, so he was naturally reluctant to accept their help.
However, Lian Yun remained silent, her expression gradually growing colder.
In the end, Zhou Tong nodded in agreement, which made Lian Yun's expression improve slightly. She then began to explain everything she knew about her plan regarding the Peerless Demon Master, except for the fact that the location of the formation might be a safe place.
It was essentially a test for Zhou Tong and the others.
She continued, "Master Pang, you are exceptionally intelligent, but your realm is not high enough, which limits your perspective. He probably won't be able to help you much; at most, he will offer some reminders."
