The team split into two groups. Captain Lu of the Second Team was tasked with apprehending Wang Guihua, while Captain Shi led us to the crime scene. By the time we arrived, colleagues from the Substation were already investigating the area, which had been cordoned off with police tape. Yang Xiaojuan was the first to board the minibus, and we followed closely behind. The minibus was about five meters long and could only accommodate ten people, including the driver. The deceased was named Li Tang, the same minibus driver we had encountered earlier at the foot of the mountain. 0

Just a few days ago, he had been a living person, but today he had become a cold corpse. There were no traces of blood in the vehicle; the driver sat in the driver's seat, leaning against the window as if he were asleep. A clear ligature mark was visible on his neck, and there were no other injuries on his body. Even someone without forensic knowledge could deduce that Li Tang had been strangled by something. 0

The person who reported the incident was a villager from Mountain. According to him, he had returned from town on his bicycle and noticed a minibus parked by the roadside with its doors wide open. He recognized it as Master Li's vehicle, which operated daily between the city and the mountain. The lights inside were off, and there were no streetlights nearby. Using starlight for illumination, he saw Master Li slumped over in the driver's seat, his head resting against the glass as if he were asleep. 0

When he approached to check, he discovered a ligature mark on Master Li's neck and his eyes wide open in shock. He hurriedly called the police. The nearest Substation arrived at eleven o'clock at night. The officers realized that this case might be linked to the murder and body dumping incident at Niulan Mountain and immediately notified us. 0

Yang Xiaojuan informed us, "The time of death is approximately three hours ago. The victim has a distinct groove-like indentation on his neck that appears as a narrow dark brown leather-like mark. His face is swollen and bruised, with bulging eyes; it is evident that he was strangled from behind by the Killer. There are no signs of struggle at the scene, suggesting that the Victim was suddenly ensnared from behind with a noose by the Killer. Look at this!" She picked up a small fragment with tweezers, revealing a tiny green piece: "Once I get back to the station, I should be able to identify what this belongs to and determine what tool the Killer used!" 0

We carefully examined everything on the deceased and inside the minibus and found that all of Li Tang's belongings were intact; even his gold ring showed no signs of having been tampered with, effectively ruling out robbery as a motive. The officers from Substation told us that Li Tang was known for being honest and friendly, with no enemies. This strongly suggested that the Killer was indeed connected to both this case and the murder at Niulan Mountain. 0

Captain Shi nodded and said, "If we had thought of this sooner, perhaps driver Li Tang wouldn't have died." Sighing deeply, Captain Shi regained his composure and continued, "The Killer likely took Li Tang's minibus up to the mountain, and since Li Tang's time of death was only about three hours ago, it's certain that the Killer hasn't gone far! We need to follow up immediately—check all surveillance footage at intersections; we must track down this Killer!" 0

By now it was early morning; Captain Shi's orders meant that many officers who had just fallen asleep would have to get back up again. The detectives got busy right away. Reviewing surveillance footage is exhausting work; it requires meticulous attention to detail. The police had previously identified a suspect through a blurry reflection in a shop window captured on camera, leading to solving a homicide case. 0

The composition of the green fragment was confirmed to have come from a type of semi-rigid green jump rope. The Killer had used this green jump rope to strangle the Victim from behind. Such jump ropes are widely available—at convenience stores, supermarkets, sports shops—making it difficult to trace where it came from without expending considerable time and manpower. 0

The Killer demonstrated strong counter-surveillance skills; from committing murder to using an easily obtainable jump rope without leaving any fingerprints or footprints made it impossible to find any trace of them. Wang Gang remarked, "The Killer must be Wang Guihua; we just released her, and now driver Li Tang has been murdered in his minibus—what a coincidence! She has clear motives for murder along with timing; it has to be Wang Guihua." 0

Captain Shi nodded thoughtfully before asking, "Could it really be Wang Guihua?" 0

I also felt something was off; how could an illiterate villager woman orchestrate such a flawless murder? Yet if she wasn't responsible for it, then what an uncanny coincidence! Moreover, if she wasn't guilty, why did she flee? Her unusual behavior at the crime scene and her lies during interrogation all pointed toward Wang Guihua being the Killer. 0

The surveillance work continued, and it was already three in the morning. Following Captain Shi's lead, I watched the monitors for a while, observing various vehicles moving from one end of the street to the other, like a pendulum in a state of hypnosis. My eyelids began to battle against each other; after a long day of running around, I was truly exhausted. 0

Captain Shi rubbed his eyes and noticed me dozing off at the side. He gently said to me, "We have enough people here. If you're tired, you can lay your head down on the table and sleep for a bit." I looked over and saw that Captain Shi's eyes were bloodshot but still bright. Suddenly, I understood what he had said earlier; many detectives spend their days watching surveillance footage. This task is tedious and numerous, yet incredibly important. Compared to the Special Investigation Team, they work quietly but share the same desire to seek justice for the victims. Aren't these individuals even more admirable? 0

In my drowsiness, I couldn't fight it any longer and fell asleep on the table. I don't know how long I slept, but I was awakened by the sound of high heels approaching. As I opened my bleary eyes, I saw that the ashtray on the table was filled with cigarette butts, and Captain Shi was still focused on the monitors, his cigarette nearly burnt out. 0

"Captain Shi!" The voice belonged to Yang Xiaojuan. I noticed her eyes were red and she had dark circles under them; it seemed she had also been up all night. She continued, "We have a rather shocking discovery regarding Zhang Fushun's autopsy. The missing half of Zhang Fushun's skull wasn't crushed by a rock; it appears something has eaten it!" 0

At this revelation, I jolted upright from my chair, startling Yang Xiaojuan, who rolled her eyes at me and said, "Are you a monkey? Jumping around like that!" 0

"I'm not a monkey; I'm a pig!" I replied. 0

Yang Xiaojuan looked at me as if I were foolish, but Captain Shi's eyes lit up at my words. He patted my shoulder and said, "Good point! It's a pig!" Without caring about Yang Xiaojuan's confusion, he continued, "Let's send someone from the Forensic Team over there; there must be quite a bit of work to do!" 0

Humans are the dominant species on Earth and almost eat everything—from creatures that fly in the sky to those swimming in the sea or hopping in the grass. Name any species, and there will be humans feasting on it; not to mention pigs raised specifically for human consumption. So then, do pigs eat humans? The answer is yes. 0

Any omnivorous animal may exhibit cannibalistic behavior under certain circumstances. There have been cases where pets have eaten their owners' eyelids and noses after their owners died suddenly at home due to hunger. Stories abound of stray dogs attacking humans for food or rats gnawing on infants' feet. 0

When we drove to Zhang Fushun's house, we headed straight for the pigpen. Not long ago, Captain Shi and I had stood in this very spot observing these pigs for quite some time. They hadn't been fed for days and appeared restless, rolling around in their pen and constantly nudging the ground with their snouts. The mud mixed with excrement and water from their trough was utterly disgusting. 0

Yang Xiaojuan informed us that pigs are actually quite clean animals; under good conditions, they won't defecate where they eat or sleep. This instinct has been passed down from their ancestors to avoid detection by wild beasts in the mountains. As Yang Xiaojuan put it, if humans were confined in a closed space, they would still refrain from relieving themselves where they eat. 0

Everyone shook their heads in disbelief. Captain Shi said, "The crime scene is likely right here in this pigpen. That explains why there are no bloodstains or traces at the crime scene—those traces have long been buried in the mud by these 'clean-loving' pigs! The next steps will be up to you experts in trace evidence!" 0

The identification work was slow and laborious. A group of people had to go to the station to identify the few sows, while another group needed to find traces at the muddy scene. The villagers gathered outside, peering in with great interest, seemingly wide awake and extremely excited. In stark contrast, the police inside, who were conducting the identifications, looked utterly exhausted. 0

After several hours of work, it was finally completed. The sun was already bright when the village chief treated everyone to a simple breakfast. Captain Shi didn’t even have time to wipe his mouth before leading everyone back to the station. The identification results were in: the pigpen was indeed the primary crime scene. There were traces of human blood in the dirt, and undigested human tissue in the feces, which had been confirmed to belong to the deceased, Zhang Fushun. Additionally, a small piece of fabric was found in the pigpen; it appeared to be a hem from clothing, likely torn off during a struggle. 0

Yang Xiaojuan was eating the instant noodles I had brought her while saying, “Since last night, I haven’t eaten anything. You’re not too bad for a newcomer; you didn’t forget about your sister Yang.” She sat on the sofa and slurped down every last drop of the noodle soup, letting out a long sigh of relief. 0

Another piece of exciting news came through: those reviewing the surveillance footage had made a discovery. Around nine o'clock, Master Li Tang's vehicle passed an intersection. The team members had already rushed to that street early in the morning. By checking the surveillance from nearby shops, they found that there was someone sitting in Li Tang's minibus—someone who could be identified as Wang Guihua! 0

"Wang Guihua is the Killer!" 0
