Why did this beautiful young woman fall for an old man? It’s something you can’t comprehend, and even the old man himself is baffled.
What’s even more perplexing is that in an effort to make her give him up, the old man introduced her to several handsome young men, yet she insisted on marrying only him. It’s hard to understand whether she was attracted to his lack of hygiene, his age, or if he possessed some extraordinary qualities.
**Crime Scene: Shandong Dezhou.**
One day in December 2015, a beautiful young woman named Aunt Zhang was enjoying the sun in her yard with her husband when a man in his fifties or sixties pushed open their door and entered their home.
The man claimed to be a worker from an oil field looking for oil. He explained that his vehicle had broken down and he needed to buy a bucket from Aunt Zhang. However, she didn’t have a bucket but offered him a chamber pot instead. Aunt Zhang said, “If you don’t mind, you can take it.”
He insisted on paying for it, but she replied, “No need for money.” He countered, “That won’t do; I’ll give you 10 yuan for it.”
Seeing Aunt Zhang’s kindness, he went into her room and asked if she could exchange some old money for him to use at a colleague’s funeral since it was considered impolite to use new money according to local customs.
“Whoever is kind-hearted should be treated well,” Aunt Zhang replied.
Impressed by the young man's charm, Aunt Zhang exchanged 5,000 yuan for him. After the exchange, he asked her to help clean the chamber pot and promised he would return shortly before hurriedly leaving.
Not long after cleaning the pot, Aunt Zhang felt something was off and decided to chase after him. However, the young man ran away quickly, and she couldn’t catch even a glimpse of him.
Feeling uneasy, Aunt Zhang took the new money she had received to a supermarket and asked the shopkeeper to help identify it. To her dismay, she discovered that more than half of it was counterfeit. Furious at being deceived after trying to help someone in need, she quickly called the police upon her neighbor's suggestion.
When the officers arrived and learned about the incident in detail, they informed Aunt Zhang that similar cases had already occurred multiple times.
These scammers impersonate Oil Workers, specifically targeting elderly individuals over the age of seventy. They exploit the kindness of these seniors to gain illegal profits.
For some of these elderly people, the money is meant for their retirement, while for others, it is for medical expenses; for them, this money is a lifeline.
Although there have been over a dozen incidents, the victims are all elderly individuals who provide very vague descriptions of the suspects' physical characteristics, making it challenging for the police to investigate.
Fortunately, after extensive visits and surveillance by the police, they finally managed to identify the suspect's physical traits.
On December 20, 2015, patrolling officers intercepted a man who closely resembled the suspect. When the officers approached him for questioning, he remained remarkably calm and spoke very naturally.
However, when the police requested to search him, they discovered a large amount of cash, raising significant suspicion about his involvement in the crimes. The officers then took this man to the station for further investigation.
Upon questioning, this man identified himself as Old Yang, 59 years old from Binzhou, Shandong Province. He was quite slick and denied ever scamming any elderly people. However, when presented with substantial evidence, Old Yang eventually confessed to his crimes.
As the police continued their inquiries, Old Yang's phone kept buzzing with messages and calls. The officers began to suspect that he might have accomplices. When they asked him about who was calling him, Old Yang became visibly agitated and urgently told the police not to disturb her.
After repeated questioning by the officers, what Old Yang revealed shocked everyone present. Despite being 59 years old, he claimed to have a girlfriend in her twenties. Was this true or just an excuse to protect his accomplices?
Further investigation revealed that Old Yang came from a privileged background with a large family; his children all had successful careers, and he lived comfortably with his wife and grandchildren—a life that many envied.
Yet within this seemingly perfect family lay a ticking time bomb. In 1991, Old Yang had been sentenced to ten years in prison for damaging electrical facilities when his children were still young.
During his imprisonment, his children not only lacked his care but also faced bullying and ridicule in their village due to their father's incarceration. This strained their relationship with him significantly.
When Old Yang was released from prison, he found it difficult to adapt to the rapidly changing society and felt he had lost any authority at home.
Fortunately, his children were all ambitious and had established their own businesses, which suddenly made Old Yang appear as a wealthy second-generation rich man. However, he felt a disconnect with them and had a strained relationship with his wife.
In this household, Old Yang had to keep a low profile every day under immense pressure—much like a newlywed bride—and some acquaintances would often make snide remarks behind his back. To cope with his frustration, he would frequently go fishing by the river.
In 2009, while fishing, Old Yang accidentally met a girl named Xiao Shuang who was studying at Binzhou Vocational College. They hit it off during their conversation. When it was time for him to leave, he offered to give Xiao Shuang a ride back on his motorcycle.
Once they arrived at school, Xiao Shuang remarked that Old Yang resembled her ex-boyfriend and asked for his phone number.
Despite their significant age difference, Xiao Shuang felt there was no generational gap between them during their chats. Over time, they developed feelings for each other. Their relationship allowed Old Yang to release some of the pressure he felt at home.
After several in-person meetings, they quickly established a relationship. In order to be with Old Yang, Xiao Shuang even broke up with her boyfriend.
However, in reality, Old Yang deceived Xiao Shuang by claiming he was investing in Binzhou. He showered her with sweet words and flattery, making this naive girl fall deeply in love with him.
When the time seemed right, Old Yang told Xiao Shuang that he had suffered investment losses. He expected her to leave him, but even without money, Xiao Shuang remained hopelessly in love.
After graduating and starting her job, Xiao Shuang used her salary to buy things for Old Yang. Yet, they often argued due to Old Yang's family issues. He even suggested breaking up multiple times, but Xiao Shuang refused to agree.
Eventually, Old Yang felt he had no choice but to introduce Xiao Shuang to two other potential boyfriends, both of whom she rejected.
In her determination to stay with Old Yang, Xiao Shuang even expressed her desire to have children with him.
However, in 2012, Old Yang was taken to the police station for using counterfeit money in a scam, which further strained his relationship with his family.
Although he was bailed out by his family, they lost all hope for him due to his repeated mistakes.
By 2015, after six years together, Xiao Shuang proposed to Old Yang. After a fight with his wife, Old Yang left home. Lacking any other skills and cutting off his financial support, he returned to his old ways of scamming.
Though Old Yang ended up in prison again, Xiao Shuang vowed to remain loyal and wait for him to be released.
"I don't care how he got there; I still stand by my words. I will be steadfast. I won't go back home to work; I will wait for him here."
