The Rainbow Stone was held aloft by Bai Zhuo, as the lighting technician adjusted the brightness and position of the lights, finally focusing on the jade stone in Bai Zhuo's hand.
Suddenly, the Seven-Colored Jade Stone burst forth with dazzling multicolored light, even overshadowing the stage lights. The audience had never witnessed such a spectacle and gasped in amazement.
The banquet lighting technician was perceptive; he knew when to stop while ahead. After marveling at the sight, he quickly turned off the lights, and the Seven-Colored Jade Stone returned to its ordinary appearance. The banquet hall fell silent for a moment before someone finally asked, "Sir, what kind of stone is this? I have been in the jade business my entire life and have never seen such a miraculous jade—I'm certain this is not some special effect you arranged!"
"Is that him? The head of the largest jade industry in Beijing, Old Zhang!" someone in the hall recognized Old Zhang's identity.
Old Zhang then asked, "Brother, may I ask what kind of jade you have there? Is it raw stone?"
Bai Zhuo let out a sigh of relief; it seemed he was lucky to have knowledgeable people present. However, he wasn't sure how to respond to Old Zhang's question.
The lighting technician timely turned on two narrow stage lights again, converging on the jade stone, which once more emitted an even more brilliant multicolored glow! At that moment, Miao Long exclaimed from the audience, "I remember now! It’s…!"
Then, a snow-white insect floated out from Miao Long's body, bobbing up and down like a dandelion in a river, trembling as it drifted toward Bai Zhuo. The insect had no wings but sported a tuft of fluffy white hair at its rear end that stirred the air as it moved. Eventually, it landed in Bai Zhuo's hand and crawled onto the Seven-Colored Jade Stone.
The snow-white insect danced gracefully on the jade stone. Soon after, another insect floated out from one of Miao Long's pockets—one, two, three… countless snow-white insects emerged like stars scattered across the galaxy, connecting Miao Long to the Seven-Colored Jade Stone.
Bai Zhuo could clearly sense that while these snow-white insects appeared harmless, they contained terrifying power. More importantly, he felt their trust in him. Though they could not speak, Bai Zhuo could read their thoughts through their movements—it was truly remarkable. He understood that they were Miao Long's Gu Worms.
In the hall, a young girl couldn't resist reaching out to grab one of the floating Snow White Sprites. To her surprise, her hands went numb as a tingling sensation spread to her neck. With a thud, she collapsed to the ground but wore a sweet smile on her face. The snow-white insect wriggled free from her palm and fluttered its tail like a peacock displaying its feathers before soaring back into the air to join its companions.
The girl beside her cried out loudly for help, and Miao Long rushed over to explain, "Everyone, don't panic. As long as you don't harm these little creatures, they won't hurt you. This sister is fine; she's just having a beautiful dream. If you don't believe me, try waking her up."
Sure enough, the young woman was shaken awake by her boyfriend, only to scold him, "Ah! I was just having a wonderful dream, and you woke me up. How annoying!" With that, she reached out to catch the Snow White Sprite flying in the air, but her boyfriend stopped her. Seeing this, those who wanted to reach out for the insects hesitated and dared not act recklessly.
What should have been a lovely birthday party had turned into a spectacle of curiosity, which was quite amusing. However, thinking back to Leng Xuanhe's crown earlier, it now seemed like a joke compared to the Seven-Colored Jade Stone that Bai Zhuo held in his hand, which even the esteemed Zhang praised.
Hundreds of Snow White Sprites floated out from Miao Long, and it was unclear where he had hidden so many of them. Bai Zhuo was somewhat surprised; it was rumored that the Miao Family's Gu Worms were unique. Miao Long's ability to summon such a multitude of Gu Worms was indeed extraordinary.
The white sprites crawled all over Bai Zhuo's arms and palms, causing an itchy sensation. Miao Long ran up from below the stage and took out a square piece of decayed wood from his pocket. He tiptoed and grabbed a slightly larger insect at the top of the jade stone and stuffed it into a hole in the wood. Immediately after, all the insects floating in mid-air and those on Bai Zhuo converged together and burrowed into the wood until the last one squeezed in. Only then did Miao Long put away the wood.
"Hey? A Long!" Yang Liu grabbed Miao Long's hand and said, "A Long, why didn't you say anything when you came? I came to pick you up! Did Qi come along too?"
Miao Long blushed and replied, "Brother Bai came to pick me up; Sister Qi didn't come... Sister Yangliu, you're really beautiful."
While Yang Liu caught up with Miao Long, Bai Zhuo became the center of attention at the banquet. Zhang stepped forward and asked, "Brother, could I borrow your Seven-Colored Jade Stone for a moment?"
Everyone turned their gaze toward Bai Zhuo. Feeling somewhat pressured, he handed the jade stone to Zhang. Zhang carefully accepted it, and as the light followed closely behind him, the stone continued to radiate its colorful glow.
Zhang examined the jade stone closely. It was clear that this was no ordinary raw jade; its vibrant colors were not merely effects created by special means. Many knowledgeable individuals gathered around Zhang to get a closer look, but in the end, even Zhang shook his head in confusion, unable to discern its secrets.
"Brother," Zhang said earnestly, "this stone is clearly a raw gem. If you agree, I will personally design a prototype and hire the best jade craftsmen in the world to create a batch of jewelry for you! All I ask is that you give me any leftover scraps from polishing!"
Hearing this proposal from Zhang caused an uproar among those present. Bai Zhuo did not know Zhang well but could tell from everyone's reaction that it was likely a good thing. He replied, "Zhang, I've already given this jade stone to Yang Liu; I can't make that decision."
Yang Liu smiled lightly and said naturally, "It is a woman's honor to be fortunate enough to receive jewelry personally designed by Master Zhang. I will leave it to you, Master Zhang!"
Upon hearing Yang Liu's agreement, Master Zhang hurriedly tucked the jade into his pocket and left the venue without even saying goodbye. Bai Zhuo was taken aback and asked, "Hey, Yang Liu, is he just leaving like that? He can't be a fraud, right?"
Yang Liu shot him a glance and explained, "Master Zhang is a leader in the jade industry. The jewelry he designs is sought after by many, and people would pay any price for it. If you say something like that about him and someone hears you, they might just kill you."
"Uh, fine... I guess I didn't recognize the mountain for what it is," Bai Zhuo shrugged. "Well, the gift has been given, and you've chosen your ideal partner. What are you planning to do next?"
"Pfft! Ideal partner, my foot!" Yang Liu scoffed and then smiled mysteriously. "Just wait and see; I have my own plans!"
