Upon returning to the house, Jiang Liu asked Qian Lin, who was following closely behind, "Have you seen that wedding dress?"
"I have," Qian Lin nodded in response. "It's a very beautiful wedding dress, bright red."
Hearing Qian Lin describe the dress, a sudden image of the Red Phantom flashed in Jiang Liu's mind, and a bizarre speculation arose.
Could the clothing worn by the Red Phantom be the wedding dress they were searching for in this incident?
As soon as this thought emerged, Jiang Liu dismissed it. How could a wedding dress possibly be worn by a ghost? If that were the case, who could take the dress off a ghost?
Meanwhile, Wang Chao, rummaging through boxes nearby, noticed Jiang Liu standing there in a daze and approached him quietly to ask, "Did you find something?"
"No, what about you? Have you found the wedding dress?" Jiang Liu inquired.
Wang Chao shook his head dejectedly. "Forget about the wedding dress; I haven't even found a single red piece of clothing."
"It seems the wedding dress isn't here." Jiang Liu turned to Qian Lin, who was still beside him. "Did you see where your wife put the wedding dress?"
"I don't know, but according to my wife's habits, she usually puts her clothes back in her wardrobe."
"Is this the wardrobe?" Jiang Liu pointed to a creamy-white wardrobe.
"Yes, my wife and I both use this wardrobe. Clothes that aren't worn are usually kept here."
"Are all the clothes in here?" Jiang Liu confirmed.
Qian Lin glanced at the clothes inside the wardrobe. "That's right; they're all here."
"Alright then, go get a box. Wang Chao and I will take all these clothes back."
"Why?" Wang Chao and Qian Lin asked in unison.
"Not now. Just hurry and get the box. Once we have the clothes, we'll leave."
Upon hearing they were going to retreat, Qian Lin didn't ask any further questions and dashed into another bedroom to look for a box. Seeing Qian Lin leave, Wang Chao remarked, "Do you suspect that the wedding dress we’re looking for might be inside here?"
"There is a possibility. Although her wedding dress is red, we haven't seen it, so we can't rule out the chance that the dress might change into something else."
Jiang Liu explained while taking clothes out of the wardrobe.
"Actually, I have a theory," Wang Chao said, looking at Jiang Liu with a hesitant expression on his face.
"What theory?"
"Do you remember the Red Phantom we saw in the elevator earlier? At the moment you escaped from the elevator, I noticed that the clothes on the Red Phantom looked very similar to the wedding dress we're looking for."
Jiang Liu paused for a moment before resuming his actions.
"I thought about that theory too, but we have no evidence to prove it. So we can only set this theory aside for now. Our main priority is still to understand the entire sequence of events."
"The box has been found."
Qian Lin's voice rang out at that moment.
As Jiang Liu took the box from Qian Lin, he continued packing the clothes and said, "Wait a minute. Let's find a hotel to stay in. Until this matter is resolved, we shouldn't separate."
Upon hearing Jiang Liu's suggestion, Qian Lin nodded eagerly. He was more than happy with this arrangement; the recent events had nearly driven him to the brink of collapse. Now that they had finally found someone who could help resolve this issue, he certainly wouldn't leave Jiang Liu's side.
After packing all the clothes, Jiang Liu patted the box and said, "Alright, let's leave now."
As they exited the house, Jiang Liu spotted Lin Mei Mei not far away, holding a dagger and looking nervously toward the corner of the hallway. Zhao Jing was huddled in a corner, trembling in fear.
Seeing Zhao Jing in such a state, Qian Lin immediately rushed over with concern. Wang Chao also approached Lin Mei Mei with a tense expression and looked in the direction she was watching but saw nothing except for an elevator that kept closing.
"What happened?" Wang Chao asked.
Seeing that all three were safely back, Lin Mei Mei lowered her dagger but looked pale.
"Not long after you went inside, the elevator we were on stopped at our floor. Then I saw a red ghostly figure standing in the elevator staring at me."
Wang Chao suddenly turned around and stared at the continuously closing elevator but did not see the Red Phantom that Lin Mei Mei had mentioned.
"Where is the ghost?"
"When you all came out, it just disappeared," Lin Mei Mei replied.
Hearing that the ghost had vanished, Wang Chao did not relax. He turned to Jiang Liu, who had just arrived, and asked, "What do we do now? It seems like that ghost doesn't want us to leave."
Jiang Liu glanced at Qian Lin, who was comforting Zhao Jing. "We have to get out of here. The three of us have seen the Red Phantom; staying here is too dangerous."
"Alright, I’ll follow your lead."
Wang Chao quickly made a decision and said to Qian Lin, who was still comforting Zhao Jing, "You need to stick close to us and not fall behind. We need to leave right away."
Understanding what had just happened from Zhao Jing's words, Qian Lin nodded decisively and gently asked Zhao Jing, "Can you stand up now?"
Zhao Jing nodded and struggled to push herself up against the wall. At that moment, Qian Lin saw that Wang Chao had already picked up the little girl and was following Jiang Liu, who was leading the way. She hurriedly lifted Zhao Jing onto her back and followed them.
Given the recent events, none of them chose to take the elevator down; they had no choice but to run down the emergency exit.
As they passed the elevator that kept closing, everyone held their breath and lightened their footsteps, moving as quietly as possible, as if they were thieves afraid of being caught by whatever was inside the elevator.
Once they entered the hallway, they finally quickened their pace to leave.
