Horror Chapter
The height of the eight-story building was quickly traversed by the three of them.
Wang Chao set Lin Mei Mei down and, keeping a wary eye on the desolate surroundings, asked Jiang Liu, "Is it 114?"
Jiang Liu glanced at the room number 101 beside him but did not respond to Wang Chao. Instead, he took out his phone and dialed the target's number. The call connected almost immediately after it rang.
"Hello, Master, have you arrived?" a man's voice filled with hope came through.
"We're here. Where are you now?" Jiang Liu asked.
"We've arrived! Master, we're still at home and haven't dared to go out."
"Alright, we'll come find you now. You should come out too."
As Jiang Liu spoke on the phone, he walked towards the door number while signaling for Wang Chao and Lin Mei Mei to follow him.
Just as they turned a corner, Jiang Liu spotted a couple dressed in matching outfits walking out of a room. Seeing the man talking on his phone eased his anxiety.
The man who stepped out of the room was momentarily taken aback upon seeing three people standing in the corridor. Then, with excitement, he shouted towards Jiang Liu, who was holding the phone, "Master?"
"Yes, I am Jiang Liu."
Upon hearing the confirmation, the man became very excited and pulled the woman towards Jiang Liu.
"Master, you finally made it!"
"This isn't a suitable place to talk; we should leave first," Jiang Liu interrupted as the man began to speak. The earlier incident of their door being mysteriously opened, along with encountering the Red Phantom in the elevator, made Jiang Liu eager to get away from this place quickly.
"Wait a moment, Jiang Liu," Lin Mei Mei suddenly spoke up.
Jiang Liu turned around, looking at Lin Mei Mei with confusion, unsure why she had called out to him.
"The wedding dress," Lin Mei Mei said simply.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Liu suddenly understood.
Right, they couldn't leave yet. The goal of this supernatural incident was to find the lost wedding dress. If he wasn't mistaken, that missing dress was definitely related to the two people in front of him. Leaving now could mean losing some crucial clues.
Thinking this, Jiang Liu turned back and seriously asked the man, "I forgot to ask, have you seen a wedding dress?"
As soon as Jiang Liu mentioned the wedding dress, the expressions of both the man and woman turned to one of sheer terror, as if they had recalled something horrifying.
Seeing their expressions, Jiang Liu realized that they likely knew something about the whereabouts of the dress and quickly pressed on, "Did you see a wedding dress?"
"M-Master, how do you know about the wedding dress?" the man asked fearfully.
"We're here for that wedding dress. If I'm not mistaken, it was after you got your hands on it that some supernatural events started happening," Jiang Liu lied without a hint of hesitation.
"Indeed, it’s all because of that wedding dress," the woman murmured in a daze.
"Tell me, where is that wedding dress? Once we find it, everything will be over," Jiang Liu asked urgently.
His words had already convinced the man significantly. He turned to the woman beside him and asked, "Zhao Jing, where did you put that wedding dress? Didn't you hear the Master say that once we find it, everything will end?"
At this moment, Zhao Jing snapped back to reality and replied with a choked voice, "I-I don’t know."
"Ms. Zhao Jing, I hope you understand that only by finding that wedding dress will all of this come to an end," Wang Chao interjected at this time.
"But I really don’t know! The moment I got my hands on that wedding dress, it disappeared. I have no idea where it went!"
Jiang Liu furrowed his brows as he looked at Zhao Jing. From her expression, he couldn't detect any signs of deceit, which left him feeling somewhat troubled.
"Could it be that you left it in the house? Think carefully," Qian Lin asked anxiously.
"Forget it, whether it's in the house or not, we need to go back and check," Jiang Liu said, looking at Qian Lin. "You and your wife stay here; I'll go inside and look."
"Wait a minute, I'm going with you. It's dangerous for you to go alone," Wang Chao said.
Jiang Liu glanced at Lin Mei Mei, silently asking if he went back with her, leaving Lin Mei Mei alone outside. He was still worried about Qian Lin and Zhao Jing, and judging by their expressions, it was clear they wouldn't return.
Wang Chao also understood the meaning in Jiang Liu's eyes and hesitated, unsure whether to follow Jiang Liu back or stay with Lin Mei Mei.
"You should go back with Jiang Liu. That way, if anything happens, you can look out for each other," Lin Mei Mei said, smoothing her skirt.
Wang Chao thought for a moment and then suddenly pointed at Qian Lin. "You should come back with us. It's your home; you should know where your clothes are usually kept."
Qian Lin was reluctant to return home, but seeing Wang Chao's determined expression made it clear that he had no choice. He could only force a smile and agree.
The reason for bringing Qian Lin along was mainly due to concerns that if something happened while he and Jiang Liu were inside, it could pose a risk to Lin Mei Mei. By including Qian Lin, the only ones left outside would be Lin Mei Mei and the girl named Zhao Jing, significantly reducing the danger.
Lin Mei Mei nodded in agreement with Wang Chao's suggestion, but Zhao Jing looked at Qian Lin with some worry. After exchanging a few glances with Zhao Jing, Qian Lin followed behind Wang Chao and Jiang Liu, making it feel like a farewell of sorts.
