Horror Chapter
As soon as Lin Mei Mei stepped out of the elevator, Wang Chao eagerly reached in, urging Jiang Liu to grab his hand and come out quickly.
Glancing back at the dim interior of the elevator, Jiang Liu felt a wave of relief wash over him when he saw that the Red Phantom had not reappeared. He grasped Wang Chao's hand and began to crawl toward the gap in the wall.
First, his arm slipped out, and there was no sound from the elevator; everything was eerily quiet. Next, he pushed his head through, but still, there was no movement from the elevator.
With half of his body still inside, Jiang Liu desperately prayed that nothing would go wrong at this moment. If something did happen now, he would be left with no better fate than being severed in half by the elevator.
Outside, Wang Chao and Lin Mei Mei watched in terror as Jiang Liu slowly emerged from the elevator. When most of his body had finally escaped, they both sighed with relief and prepared to pull him out completely.
But just then, Wang Chao peered into the elevator through the gap and was horrified to see a head with long hair suddenly appear before him. Cold eyes glared at him from between the strands, filled with malice.
In that instant, Wang Chao felt as if he had plunged into an icy pool; his entire body went numb as he stared blankly at the head that had appeared behind Jiang Liu.
Jiang Liu, struggling to crawl out, sensed that Wang Chao was no longer pulling him. Confused, he looked back only to see Wang Chao's face frozen in terror. A chill surged through Jiang Liu's heart; without needing to turn around, he knew something terrible was happening behind him. He quickly increased his pace toward the elevator's exit.
Just then, Jiang Liu felt a cold grip around his left ankle. The icy touch sent shivers down his spine, and his scalp prickled with fear.
Damn it! The ghost has really come for me!
Before he could finish cursing in his mind, a tremendous force yanked at his ankle, pulling his foot back just as it was about to escape the elevator.
Everything happened so suddenly that Jiang Liu lost his balance and fell to the ground. The force continued to drag him backward into the elevator.
"Wang Chao! Grab me quickly!"
Jiang Liu realized that he couldn't fight against whatever force was inside the elevator alone. He shouted desperately at Wang Chao, who seemed frozen in place.
Wang Chao snapped back to reality at Jiang Liu's frantic call. Seeing him being pulled back into the elevator made it clear what was happening. Without hesitation, he lunged forward and grabbed onto Jiang Liu as if they were engaged in a tug-of-war—Jiang Liu was like the rope in this terrifying game.
As Wang Chao struggled to pull Jiang Liu out of the elevator, Jiang Liu fought against the force dragging him back. He kicked wildly into the darkness of the elevator, hoping to dislodge whatever was holding him. But despite his efforts, he couldn't find anything solid to kick against; the relentless pull on his ankle continued unabated.
"Can you stop moving? I'm about to lose my grip on you!"
Wang Chao was struggling at this moment. The position he was in, lying on the ground, made it difficult to exert any strength, and with Jiang Liu constantly wriggling, Wang Chao nearly lost his hold.
"Damn it, do you think I want to? There's a ghost grabbing my foot!" Jiang Liu shouted in frustration.
Wang Chao looked up towards the elevator behind Jiang Liu and indeed saw a pale, somewhat frighteningly slender hand gripping Jiang Liu's left ankle, pulling him toward the elevator. That slender hand belonged to Red Phantom, who was lurking behind Jiang Liu.
"Damn it, this isn't going to work. You need to think of something fast; I can't hold on much longer!"
Wang Chao noticed that the force coming from Jiang Liu was growing stronger, and he too began to slide toward the elevator involuntarily, feeling increasingly anxious.
What the hell can I think of at a time like this? Jiang Liu cursed inwardly as his mind raced.
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't come up with a way to make the ghost in the elevator let go of that deadly grip. Judging by Red Phantom's demeanor, it was clear that it wouldn't stop until it dragged Jiang Liu back inside. His body continued to inch closer to the elevator.
At that moment, Lin Mei Mei joined the fray, grabbing Jiang Liu's other hand and pulling with all her might. Surprisingly, their combined strength began to overpower Red Phantom's force from within the elevator, halting its backward pull and even managing to pull them slightly outward.
As the saying goes, misfortunes never come singly. Just when Jiang Liu felt a glimmer of hope, the elevator suddenly emitted a "clunk" sound and dropped a few centimeters.
This terrified Jiang Liu; he certainly didn't want to be sliced apart by the elevator. He shouted to Lin Mei Mei and Wang Chao, "Put in more effort! I'm almost out!"
"Stop talking nonsense! Can't you see I'm using every ounce of strength I have?"
Wang Chao replied, his face flushed with effort. It was evident he was giving it his all; Jiang Liu could clearly feel his arm joints aching from Wang Chao's grip.
"Clunk."
The elevator dropped another few centimeters, leaving Jiang Liu with two legs still inside.
As the elevator continued to descend, what had once been a gap of several dozen centimeters now shrank to just over ten centimeters. With two of his legs still trapped inside the elevator, the narrowing gap felt like a blade closing in on him—ready to strike at any moment.
"Bang!"
With a loud crash, the elevator finally gave way and plummeted downwards. Just as the doors of the elevator closed completely, Jiang Liu was rescued by Wang Chao and Lin Mei Mei.
Listening to the deafening noise from below, Jiang Liu felt a wave of fear wash over him. If he had been trapped in those few seconds at night, even if he survived, he would have ended up crippled. Cold sweat soaked through his clothes.
"You bastard, I’m telling you, you owe me a life!" Wang Chao shouted, lying on the white floor and gasping for breath.
"You still owe me a life from the last incident. Let's just call it even; no one owes anyone anything," Jiang Liu replied, surprisingly lighthearted after escaping death.
"Alright, this isn’t the time to rest. You two get up off the floor quickly; we need to move towards our target," Lin Mei Mei said at that moment.
Wang Chao rolled over and stood up. "You're right; we need to hurry. If I’m not mistaken, our target is in a dangerous situation right now."
Jiang Liu understood that it wasn't time to rest either. Struggling to get up from the ground, he leaned on Wang Chao and followed Lin Mei Mei.
