As Jiang Liu pushed open the door, the scene that greeted him made him feel nauseous. 0

The deep brown wooden walls were splattered with blood, which had darkened over time from its original bright red hue. Hanging from the ceiling in the center of the room was a corpse; upon closer inspection, Jiang Liu realized it was the old man they had seen the previous night. 0

The old man's body was suspended by a rope, his once-kind face now twisted in sheer terror, as if he had witnessed something horrifying before his death. Looking down further, Jiang Liu couldn't hold back any longer and crouched on the floor, retching. 0

The old man's body had been reduced to a skeleton, as if he had endured the most severe punishment of dismemberment from ancient times. The bones were still stained with blood and remnants of flesh clung to them. 0

After vomiting until only bile came up, Jiang Liu felt slightly better but still couldn't bring himself to look at the old man's terrifying corpse. 0

Forcing his gaze downward and trying not to look up, Jiang Liu quickly surveyed the scene inside the room before retreating. 0

Outside, Wang Chao stood waiting. When he saw Jiang Liu emerge from the room, he asked, "What did you see?" 0

"It was definitely the work of a ghost," Jiang Liu replied, wiping his mouth. "And it happened shortly after we left last night; the ghost targeted the old man." 0

"How do you know that?" Wang Chao asked in surprise. 0

"I observed the color of the bloodstains. They are dried and darkened, indicating that the old man has been dead for quite some time," Jiang Liu explained. 0

"I didn't notice that." 0

Wang Chao was about to take another look inside when Jiang Liu grabbed his arm. He looked at Jiang Liu in confusion, unsure of what he meant. 0

"We need to leave this place." 0

Without waiting for Wang Chao's agreement, Jiang Liu pulled him away from the dilapidated house. They walked along a path until Wang Chao finally broke free and asked, "What are you doing? Why are we leaving?" 0

At that moment, Wang Chao noticed that Jiang Liu's expression had turned somewhat grim. A chill ran through him, and he quickly asked, "What's wrong? Why do you look so pale?" 0

Jiang Liu didn't respond immediately. Instead, he scanned their surroundings and, seeing that there were no other people nearby, said to him, "I have made a discovery." 0

"What discovery?" 0

"Don't you find it strange that the old man didn't die earlier or later, but waited until we found him last night and learned some things from him before anything happened?" 0

"I'm not sure I understand what you mean." 0

"Don't you think it's all too coincidental?" 0

"Are you saying someone is following us? But even if we were being followed, there's no reason for them to kill the old man, especially in such a gruesome manner." 0

Just thinking about the old man's death made Wang Chao feel uneasy in his stomach. 0

"What if it's not a person following us?" Jiang Liu countered. 0

"If it's not a person, then what? A ghost? But if it were a ghost, it wouldn't need to follow us; it could have acted long ago..." 0

Wang Chao's voice trailed off abruptly as he suddenly shouted, "Could it be a ghost?" 0

Seeing that Wang Chao was losing control of his volume, Jiang Liu quickly covered his mouth and whispered, "Exactly. That's what I'm speculating." 0

Due to Wang Chao being unable to speak with Jiang Liu covering his mouth, he had no choice but to gesture to Jiang Liu, indicating that he had calmed down. This prompted Jiang Liu to release his grip. 0

"If that's the case, doesn't it mean we're being watched? We can't do anything." 0

"That's what I'm worried about too. If that's true, any move we make will attract the ghost's attention, and we won't be able to investigate further." 0

"What should we do then? If we can't continue our investigation, we might very well die in this supernatural incident." 0

"I know, so we need to come up with a way to shake off the ghost's surveillance so we can continue our investigation." 0

"That sounds simple, but we don't even know where the ghost is. How can we escape its watch?" Wang Chao said helplessly. 0

"No, it's actually quite easy to figure out where the ghost is; the hard part is how to evade its surveillance." 0

"Huh? You know where the ghost is?" 0

Wang Chao was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected that after such a short time, Jiang Liu would already have figured out the ghost's location, which made him skeptical. 0

Jiang Liu nodded and asked Wang Chao, "The ghost's location is actually easy to deduce. Do you remember what the old man told us?" 0

"Yes, it was about a female student who died in a classroom, and that classroom is likely the one we're in now. Am I right?" Wang Chao replied. 0

"Exactly. Based on my previous experiences with supernatural events, it's very likely that the ghost has been in our classroom all along. So I boldly speculate that the ghost might be like us; it can only stay in the classroom while we're having class. When class is over or when school ends, it can move freely, just like during our breaks." 0

There was actually another theory that Jiang Liu didn't voice because it contradicted his previous understanding of reality. As soon as that thought emerged, he dismissed it immediately. 0

"Based on your reasoning, the old man's death is somewhat acceptable, but there's still one issue: how do we explain the girl who died yesterday? You have to understand that she jumped out of the classroom in front of all of us." 0

"I don't know. I haven't been able to figure that out, but aside from that, my earlier hypothesis is currently the most plausible one. I can't think of any other explanations." 0

"Forget about that for now. What are we going to do about the old man's body? Are we just going to leave it there?" Wang Chao asked. 0

"What else can we do?" Jiang Liu retorted. "What do you suggest?" 0

"Of course, we should call the police." 0

Wang Chao fell silent. He knew that calling the police wouldn't be of much use; he understood how supernatural events impacted reality. At most, the police would come, ask a few questions, and then leave without taking any further action. Moreover, doing so could potentially disturb the scene and destroy some hidden clues. But just thinking about the old man's body hanging there pitifully made Wang Chao uncomfortable. 0

After a moment of thought, he said to Jiang Liu, "Why don't we go back and take down the old man's body? It looks too sad like that." 0

"We definitely need to take it down, but not right now. We just left; if we go back now, who knows what might happen?" 0

"So what should we do now?" Wang Chao asked. 0

"Let's go back to class." 0

"Huh?" 0
