After hearing Liu Ming's explanation, the other three displayed different expressions. Wang Xing showed confusion over this bizarre phenomenon while Zhang Lin and Shuangshuang exhibited fear of ghosts and dread over more deaths.
Liu Ming stepped out of the corridor and stood beside Wang Xing as he looked at Zhang Lin and Shuangshuang. “Did you find any corpses?”
“No, but Shuangshuang and I haven’t had a chance to check the second floor yet,” Zhang Lin replied.
"Then there's no need to check. If I'm not mistaken, there can't possibly be a body on the second floor!" Liu Ming said something that surprised both Zhang Lin and Shuangshuang.
"Why?" Wang Xing asked, puzzled. He couldn't understand how Liu Ming could be so sure that there was no body on the second floor without even checking it first.
"I think we made a mistake from the very beginning!" Liu Ming frowned as he looked at Wang Xing.
"What mistake?"
Wang Xing was confused, and even Zhang Lin wore a puzzled expression, not knowing what Liu Ming meant by "we made a mistake from the very beginning."
Reflecting on their initial entry into the Haunted Building and up until they separated, they hadn't felt that anything had gone wrong. They couldn't grasp what Liu Ming was getting at.
"It’s about your suggestion to split into three teams to search each floor!" Liu Ming explained, noticing the confusion in their eyes. "Based on past missions issued by 'it,' tonight's supernatural event cannot be as simple as 'it' described! This is a trap!"
"You mean 'it' leading us to find a body is actually a hidden trap?" Wang Xing, having survived multiple supernatural events, quickly grasped what Liu Ming was implying.
"Exactly. We misjudged our path from the start! We thought this supernatural event would follow the same pattern as previous real-life supernatural incidents, believing that if we adhered to 'its' rules, we would find a way out. But we didn't expect..."
Liu Ming didn’t finish his sentence, but Wang Xing understood what he meant. After numerous life-and-death experiences together, he had come to know Liu Ming's way of thinking very well. He realized that Liu Ming was actually a person with a warm heart beneath his cold exterior; he just wasn't good at expressing himself and habitually wore a mask to disguise his true feelings.
