Horror Chapter
"Why didn't you tell us about this sooner?" Zhang Lin questioned Wang Xing in anguish. He was furious that Wang Xing hadn't informed him of this matter last night; if he had, he wouldn't have become the murderer of his parents!
"Why?" Liu Ming, filled with anger, suppressed his fury and mocked the newcomers, "Did I not warn you all last night? Wrong! I remember clearly that I warned you three times not to disclose the details of the incident to anyone, just to inquire about Su Xue's existence! But how did you all respond? You completely ignored what Wang Xing and I said!"
Zhang Lin found himself unable to refute this. Indeed! When they parted ways yesterday, Liu Ming and Wang Xing had warned him repeatedly, yet in his quest to verify their words, he had acted recklessly, leading to a devastating outcome.
"Oh, by the way! I need to tell you one more thing," Liu Ming continued. "If you die in tonight's supernatural event, so be it. If by some chance you survive, then I hope you can destroy that note you wrote because 'it' has stipulated that once certain individuals excessively leak details about the supernatural event, 'it' will ensure the stable progression of the incident by taking necessary measures!"
"What measures?" Zhang Lin asked blankly, his spirit already shattered by the previous cruel blows.
"I don't know," Liu Ming shrugged and explained. "Because no one has ever acted as foolishly as you all before, 'it' has never taken any measures. But believe me! Once 'it' decides to act, the outcome will definitely be something you cannot accept."
Liu Ming glanced at the time and addressed everyone, "Time is running out; I don't have time to let you wallow in self-pity. In short, those who don’t want to die immediately should follow me and Wang Xing to carry out the mission. Those who wish to die can stay here feeling guilty and wait for 'it' to execute your death sentence!"
After saying this, Liu Ming looked at the newcomers, waiting for their choice.
After a few seconds of silence, Zhang Lin was the first to gather his spirits and pulled up Shuangshuang, who was still sitting on the ground. "Don't give up! There must be a way. Only by staying alive can we find a solution!"
With tears streaming down her face, Shuangshuang looked at Zhang Lin. Seeing his defiant eyes gave her the strength to nod firmly. The other two newcomers, who had been silent until now, also made their choice upon seeing someone take action. They looked at Liu Ming, who stood aside with a mocking smile, and expressed their decision through their actions.
Watching the figures of the few people slowly disappear from view while hiding upstairs, Jiang Liu felt a surge of emotions within him.
After hearing what Liu Ming and Wang Xing had said, he felt fortunate that he hadn't disclosed the supernatural event to anyone else but chose to bear this pain alone. He couldn't imagine if he had given in and told his family about it; he would have become the culprit responsible for his parents' deaths!
He had experienced several supernatural events, and it was precisely because of these experiences that he understood how helpless and insignificant human power could be when faced with terrifying paranormal occurrences. He never believed he would escape from this hell; even the calmest and smartest individuals could not guarantee their survival through every supernatural event. Sometimes reality was just that cruel—once you entered this hell, there was no hope of escape.
After deciding not to tell any innocent person about the supernatural events in the future, Jiang Liu found himself facing another dilemma. Should he follow those people to the location of the real supernatural event he had been searching for recently?
After much contemplation, he decided it was best not to go.
Firstly, he could not be sure that even if he followed those people, he would be able to see Zhang Lin's suddenly appearing Haunted Building. He had not received any information regarding this supernatural event, which meant that the so-called "it" did not require his participation in this real paranormal incident. If his following them led to some unfortunate outcome, he would regret it too late!
Secondly, he could not determine whether the ghosts involved in this supernatural event would adhere to the so-called rules from the Edge World. If there were no restrictions, then following behind them would be like a beacon in the night, constantly signaling to the ghosts that another solitary person was nearby. Such a suicidal act was something he would never do as long as he retained his sanity.
If the first two points did not help Jiang Liu make up his mind, then the last point was the final straw that solidified his decision not to join them.
Since he would be trailing behind them, it meant Jiang Liu did not want to put himself in a dangerous position. In case things went awry, he wanted to be able to retreat safely. What if Jiang Liu entered that suddenly appearing Haunted Building and "it" decided that he was involved in this supernatural event and forced him to undertake a task? Would he carry it out or refuse?
These three considerations completely convinced Jiang Liu not to wade into these murky waters. Now that he had confirmed that supernatural events could occur in the real world, the questions that had troubled him for some time had found their answers; there was no need for him to take unnecessary risks.
Having settled his thoughts, Jiang Liu lay back on his bed, quietly staring at the wooden slats above him. His mind was blank, unsure of what to think about, and slowly he drifted into sleep.
He had a dream—a strange dream!
He dreamed of that eerie bus he had seen before, sitting quietly inside as he observed the other passengers in the cabin.
At some point, all the people in the cabin vanished—leaving only One Person!
The outside of the bus was engulfed in darkness, with no scenery visible, and the surrounding silence felt eerily unsettling.
Yet, he felt no fear; instead, there was a yearning within him, an anticipation for something—or perhaps someone—to appear.
But in the blink of an eye, the dream shifted again!
He found himself in a room, facing a massive mirror. The decor of the room felt strangely familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere before, but when he tried to recall, nothing came to mind.
As he gazed into the mirror, he noticed several indistinct figures emerging within its reflection. There were short figures, distorted shapes, and various silhouettes with obscured faces. Yet, he felt a strange sense of recognition; he knew these figures! They were incredibly familiar!
However, no matter how hard he racked his brain, he could not figure out who those familiar figures in the mirror were!
All the shadows in the mirror slowly turned to face him, silently staring from beyond the glass.
No sounds escaped their lips, but he could feel their silent screams directed at him!
Desperate cries!
They incessantly questioned him! Mocked him!
