I returned to the office on January 11th, feeling that something was off. The atmosphere was strange; my colleagues looked at me with unfamiliar and complex expressions. In the break room, restroom, and lounge, small groups whispered to each other, glancing at me before quickly pretending to be casual. 0

It seemed everyone knew or had participated in something, leaving me out in the cold. 0

In the break room, the greasy middle-aged man old Zeng, who managed logistics and doubled as the boss's driver, was practically nose-to-nose with Sister Zhou from the Performance Department. They were chatting animatedly and gesturing when they spotted me. They hurriedly separated and greeted me with a smirk, “Xiao Jiang, you’re personally getting water?” 0

This man always made inappropriate comments to women, touching shoulders and hands in a way that felt invasive and annoying. 0

What surprised me most was that my friend and classmate Jiang Xiaoli, whom I was supposed to introduce for an interview, was already working here! She cheerfully told me, “You need to take an extra seven days off. I couldn’t wait any longer, so I called HR and told them we were classmates. They let me come over and kept me!” 0

Was my face really that powerful? 0

While discussing a new script with Teacher Hu, the screenwriter, he hesitated several times to speak. Everything felt off. 0

During lunch break, a well-dressed woman with an impressive presence stormed into the boss's office. The receptionist tried to stop her, asking, “May I ask who you’re looking for?” but was shoved aside. “Get out of my way!” she shouted. 0

Her voice boomed like thunder; her anger was palpable. 0

Everyone stared in shock as an ashtray was hurled against the glass door, shattering it into pieces. 0

Someone whispered, “The boss’s wife is furious!” 0

I didn’t understand why so many people were glancing at me with expressions of mockery, glee, and concern all mixed together. 0

“If you won’t kick her out, I will!” the woman declared fiercely. 0

“ Liu Feifei, those are just baseless rumors; how can you believe them?” The boss’s defense sounded weak. 0

“Rumors? Where there’s smoke, there’s fire! I’ve received several messages. You call that a rumor? If it were just hearsay, why is everyone talking about it? The whole world knows except for me?” 0

Indeed, many people were whispering among themselves; I wanted to know what they were discussing. 0

The woman was losing control of her emotions and became hysterical, which contrasted sharply with her polished appearance. 0

“Who sent you those messages? I want to confront them directly!” the boss raised his voice. 0

“Ha! They’re not foolish enough to give their names while spilling your dirty laundry!” 0

“Is it fear? If they dare to speak up, why not show themselves? What are they afraid of?” The boss’s retort lacked substance. 0

The woman burst out of the office, brandishing her phone as she scrutinized each bewildered female employee. Perhaps I looked too fresh and unassuming; she quickly focused her gaze on me. She sized me up for a good two minutes while comparing me to something on her phone screen. Suddenly, she slapped my face hard from both sides: “You little brat! You look decent enough; how come you have such a twisted mind at such a young age? Learning to seduce men already! Our Old Ji has praised you plenty at home; seeing is believing. You really can act—staying so calm in front of me… Aren’t you ashamed to sleep with him? He could practically be your father!” 0

She was about to make a move when the boss rushed out, blocking my way and shouting, "Are you crazy?" 0

I was completely stunned. Who could tell me what was going on? Who was sleeping with whom? Who was being a father to whom? Did everyone hear that clearly? 0

"What's wrong, feeling heartbroken?" the woman sneered. "Since you dare to do it, why not take responsibility?" 0

Then she turned to me, "Tell me, when did you and our Old Ji start? How many times have you been together? Where did you book the rooms?" Her aggressive tone pushed the refined boss aside, her finger jabbing at my forehead as her words cut deep like knives. 0

Teacher Hu returned and pulled me aside, addressing the woman, "Sister-in-law, are these baseless rumors worth causing such a scene? I'm currently investigating who is spreading these lies. What’s going on between you and Old Ji at home is none of my business, but this is the company. Are you trying to stir up trouble just because things have been running smoothly here?" 0

As I touched my burning face, I realized I was already in tears. 0

Usually gentle and polite Teacher Hu, who treated everyone kindly, now stood firm against the boss's wife, who had lost her temper but glared at me fiercely: "Today I'm giving Old Hu face, but this isn't over!" 0

The boss's wife had vented her anger but left in tears, muttering, "Ungrateful thing! After just a few days of good meals, you start playing tricks in front of me!" 0

Why was I being slapped for no reason? What gave her the right to hit me in front of so many people? 0

Coming back to my senses, I grabbed the boss's arm: "What gives your wife the right to treat me like this? You need to explain!" 0

I cried uncontrollably. 0

The boss still seemed dazed from the earlier chaos and took a while before saying, "I will give you an explanation!" 0

Before his explanation could come, the HR department's decision arrived first: the company has decided to terminate your employment! 0
