But just then, a hand rested on my shoulder. I looked up to meet Mingyue's gaze.
She bit her lip lightly and said, "You must hold on."
Hold on, yes. Everyone here was fighting to protect me. They had traversed mountains and rivers and faced countless hardships to find these things. If I did not persevere, wouldn’t all their efforts be wasted?
As this thought crossed my mind, even though the pain was as Gu Chen described—gnawing at my flesh and bones like a thousand ants devouring my heart—I gritted my teeth and squatted down inside the barrel.
Except for my head, my entire body was submerged in the water.

Suddenly, I felt someone touch my cheek and pat my head, followed by the sound of someone speaking.

Mu Yan, Mingyue, Li, Gu Chen—they were all standing in front of me.
Also present were He Si, Grandma Jiang, Mao Guoxue, Yang Haibo, Ma Zeyu, Zhao Guo, Lu Yuan, Yuan Fei, and Chen Xuanyi. They stood a bit farther away.
They all looked somewhat disheveled at that moment, their hair in disarray and their clothes torn in several places. Yet, without exception, their gazes were all focused on me.
"Master," I called out.
"You’re awake," Gu Chen replied with a slight nod.
"Yes," I responded, then turned to Mu Yan, Li, and Mingyue. Seeing their disheveled appearances, I couldn't help but ask with concern, "Are you all okay?"
"And what about those..."
"It's fine; they have all left. Now that you are awake, we can relax," Mu Yan answered directly before I could finish my question.
"What’s the situation?" I looked at Gu Chen, who asked again in his usual calm manner.
I was a bit curious and replied, "Master, what do you mean by 'what's the situation'?"
"How does your body feel?" he answered lightly.
I furrowed my brow slightly. His question made me realize that my body indeed felt somewhat different.
It was a sensation of having strength in every movement; even the slightest motion made me feel as if every muscle in my body had gained considerable power compared to before.
I extended my hand, looking at Gu Chen with increasing astonishment.
I noticed that my arms seemed much fairer and softer than before, yet they felt more solid.

"That's right."
Gu Chen nodded slightly and said, "Exactly."

I nodded repeatedly, feeling a surge of excitement.
