“Two-Headed Centipede, Datura Flower,” Mu Yan was taken aback, her puzzled gaze instantly landing on Mao Guoxue.
“Correct,” Mao Guoxue nodded.
Seeing the hostility on Mu Yan's face diminish significantly, he seized the moment to continue, “The Datura Flower resembles a trumpet and is also known as the Enchantment Flower. This flower is toxic, and its poison induces infatuation, hence it is called the Datura Flower or the Flower of Infatuation. Lin Hao became poisoned because he ingested the pollen from this Datura Flower.”
Upon hearing this, Mu Yan furrowed her brows slightly, and Mingyue did the same beside her.
Mao Guoxue glanced at them and continued, “But besides the Datura Flower, there exists a Gu Worm within him. Extracting the Gu Worm is crucial at this moment.”
“Is that what you mean by Two-Headed Centipede?” Mingyue quickly asked.
Mu Yan's focus sharpened instantly as she stared intently at Mao Guoxue, anxiously awaiting his response.
“Yes, it is indeed the Two-Headed Centipede.”
Mao Guoxue said calmly, “You must be curious about how a centipede can have two heads.”
As if answering his own question, he elaborated, “This type of centipede is different from ordinary ones. It involves taking several centipedes and cutting one in half at the center. The ones that do not die are kept alive, and their tails are joined together. Thus, the living creature becomes what we call the Two-Headed Centipede, used for summoning Gu.”
Mao Guoxue’s words caused both Mingyue and Mu Yan to frown deeply, feeling a mix of disbelief along with shock and concern.
Once Mao Guoxue finished speaking, Mingyue and Mu Yan almost simultaneously voiced their question: “Then how can we save Lin Hao?”
“I’ve mentioned that the priority is to first extract the Two-Headed Centipede from Lin Hao’s body, then neutralize the poison of the Datura Flower. Only then can he return to who he once was and become his true self,” Mao Guoxue replied calmly.
“Let’s go. I want to see him.”
Without a word, Mu Yan released Jin Zhongyun, her figure gliding down like a gentle breeze to land beside Mao Guoxue.
Seeing that she had finally let go of Jin Zhongyun, both Mao Guoxue and Mingyue couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Nodding slightly, Mao Guoxue said, "If you want to see him, just come back to Upper Clear Academy with me."
"Let's go now." Mu Yan remained straightforward; although her expression was cold, the urgency in her heart was unmistakable.
Mao Guoxue furrowed her brow but did not refuse. She stared at Mu Yan for a moment before saying, "Taking you back is certainly not a problem, but your identity is special. To avoid unnecessary trouble, you need to cooperate with me."
Upon hearing this, Mu Yan did not ask what cooperation entailed; instead, she directly inquired, "How should I cooperate? Just tell me."
"Don't act recklessly and avoid appearing carelessly to prevent causing panic," Mao Guoxue replied calmly.
"I agree," Mu Yan nodded slightly.
"Then let's go," Mao Guoxue finally nodded in agreement.
At this point, Mingyue had already walked over to Jin Zhongyun's side and helped him up from the ground. Seeing Mao Guoxue's gaze upon her, she said lightly, "I'll carry him and return to Upper Clear Academy with you."
Mao Guoxue nodded slightly without objection, but Mu Yan shot Mingyue a cold glance; however, she ultimately chose not to say anything further.
Thus, the four of them made their way toward Upper Clear Academy under the cover of night.
By the time they returned to Upper Clear Academy, it was already early morning. Additionally, since Mao Guoxue had concealed Mu Yan's powerful Ghostly Energy in a special way, there were no disturbances caused at Upper Clear Academy.
Mao Guoxue first led Mingyue to arrange for Jin Zhongyun to lie down in a room. Then she fetched some medicinal wine and supplies for treating wounds and handed them to Mingyue, instructing her to take care of Jin Zhongyun's injuries first.
His injuries, aside from the scratches left by Mu Yan's five fingers, were mostly superficial abrasions, so it wasn't a serious matter.
Although he was just as eager to see Mu Yan, upon seeing Jin Zhongyun in such a disheveled state, Mingyue nodded without saying much and picked up the medical kit to help Jin Zhongyun tend to his wounds.
Mao Guoxue glanced over and then gestured outward, leading Mu Yan to meet Lin Hao.
At that moment, Lin Hao was in another room, still unconscious and lying on the bed.
When the door to the room opened and Mu Yan saw Lin Hao lying there, she rushed over immediately.
Mao Guoxue gently closed the door behind them, standing aside quietly watching the scene unfold, neither interrupting nor stopping them.
Lin Hao's head was wrapped in a thick layer of white gauze, which had obvious red stains soaked in blood.
"Why hasn't he woken up yet?" Mu Yan leaned over Lin Hao, continuously stroking his head with a pained expression as she turned to Mao Guoxue, worry etched on her face.
"He's fine; I just didn't want him to wake up so soon. I gave him two sleeping pills," Mao Guoxue replied calmly.
"What? Why would you do that?" Upon hearing this, Mu Yan's gaze shot towards Mao Guoxue, clearly puzzled by her words.
"To remove the Gu," Mao Guoxue said simply.
Mu Yan was taken aback but quickly averted her gaze without saying more.
"Alright, you stay here with him. I'll go prepare and rest for a bit. Tomorrow morning, once I've regained my strength, I'll help him remove the Gu Worm from his body," Mao Guoxue continued after a brief silence.
Mu Yan seemed a bit surprised and looked up to ask, "Can't it be done now?"
"No, because although extracting the poison is simple, one must not be careless." With that, Mao Guoxue said no more. After his voice fell, he opened the door and stepped out, casually closing it behind him.
The next day, when Mao Guoxue returned, it was time to extract the poison from Lin Hao.
The method was not complicated. This time, Mingyue accompanied him. After Mao Shiba had arranged for Xiao Juan, he had hurried back overnight and was now following along.
"Bring the Realgar Wine and chicken blood," Mao Guoxue instructed as he helped the still unconscious Lin Hao sit up. He was seated at the edge of the bed, calling out to Mao Shiba behind him.
Mao Shiba quickly brought forward the prepared Realgar Wine and chicken blood, handing them to Mao Guoxue.
As he took them, Mao Guoxue said lightly, "Snakes and centipedes are natural enemies, yet they share some similarities; both fear the scent of realgar. Chickens eat centipedes, so chicken blood should be particularly effective against the Two-Headed Centipede within him. Therefore, administering these two substances should draw it out."
Without hesitation, he instructed Mao Shiba to help pry open Lin Hao's mouth and began pouring in the Realgar Wine and chicken blood.
However, due to Lin Hao's unconscious state, the process was slow and the effects were not immediately evident.
Seeing this, Mu Yan stepped forward without hesitation. She snatched the Realgar Wine and chicken blood from Mao Guoxue's hands, mixed them together in her mouth, then leaned down to press her lips against Lin Hao's.
Mingyue was momentarily taken aback, her expression complex as a whirlwind of emotions surged within her. She quickly averted her gaze and looked elsewhere.
Mao Guoxue and Mao Shiba noticed her reaction but said nothing. With a slight sigh, they stood up and moved aside to wait quietly.
Soon enough, despite some spilling, Mu Yan managed to get a significant amount of Realgar Wine and chicken blood into Lin Hao.
At this moment, everyone stood by Lin Hao's side, intently watching his face.
"Shiba, remove his shirt," Mao Guoxue said after a brief pause, frowning.
Mao Shiba nodded and stepped forward, directly pulling off Lin Hao's shirt. At that moment, it was clear on his abdomen that something was wildly writhing beneath the skin, moving restlessly.
Although he was unconscious, Lin Hao continued to emit faint groans of pain as the creature thrashed about inside him.
The writhing thing was the Two-Headed Centipede within him. After a few seconds, perhaps unable to withstand the stimulation from Realgar Wine and chicken blood, it began to move upward, quickly reaching Lin Hao's throat.
"Chopsticks."
At that moment, Mao Guoxue extended a hand and spoke again in a calm tone.
Mao Shiba turned and handed him the chopsticks that had already been prepared on the table. As Lin Hao's mouth slightly opened, a reddish, slightly flattened head peeked out from inside.
Without any hesitation, like lightning, Mao Guoxue acted instantly. The moment the Two-Headed Centipede's head emerged, he swiftly clamped it with the chopsticks, gripping it tightly before yanking it out and throwing it onto the ground.
"Die."
Mu Yan's eyes flashed with cold light. Seeing the two-headed centipede fall to the ground, he immediately stomped down hard, crushing it to death.
"Well, it's dead now." Seeing this, Mao Guoxue sighed lightly and didn't pay much attention.
But at that moment, Lin Hao suddenly let out a series of anguished screams. The next second, his neck tilted at an odd angle, and he became completely unresponsive.
"What happened?" Mingyue exclaimed in shock.
At this point, she wasn't the only one stunned; even Mao Guoxue stood frozen in place, staring at Lin Hao with a furrowed brow and a look of confusion.
In the room, everyone was momentarily stunned.
Before them, the Two-Headed Centipede had been extracted from Lin Hao's body, but what was happening?
In Grandma Jiang's house, Xiao Juan lay on the bed in despair, her eyes red and glistening with unshed tears, her gaze vacant.
Last night, Grandma Jiang had personally gone to the river mentioned by Jin Zhongyun to search for Lin Hao's body, but she found nothing.
Although she still struggled to believe that Lin Hao was dead, Grandma Jiang had almost given up all hope.
Thus, upon returning, she simply told Xiao Juan that Lin Hao was gone.
Since waking up, Xiao Juan had transformed into her current state, as if she had lost her soul and all her luster.
However, at that moment, a sharp pain suddenly shot through her abdomen. She let out a muffled groan and, in the next instant, sprang up from the bed like lightning. Tears filled her eyes, and a flicker of joyful hope reappeared in her once-dull gaze.
"Lin Hao is not dead!"
