After hanging up the phone with Xiao Juan, I didn't have time to think much. I quickly caught up with Gu Chen and Zhou Zhen, informing them that He Si had woken up and might have something to say. Xiao Juan urged us to return to the hotel quickly.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Zhen turned to Gu Chen and asked, "Senior Gu, should we head back now?"
Gu Chen slightly turned to glance at Big Head, who was following behind, and nodded gently. "Let's go back."
Zhou Zhen acknowledged with a simple "Okay," and without further words, we exited the Mu Family residence and got into the car for the journey back.
Although we sat in silence during the ride, my mind was anything but calm. I frequently stole glances at Liu Xin, who was sitting next to me.
However, he completely ignored me, seemingly oblivious to my gaze. He even squinted his eyes, dismissing my presence entirely.
Yet as I observed him now, I felt no trace of contempt in my heart.
Initially, I had thought of him as just a boastful street magician, but that perception had been entirely overturned.
Liu Xin's earlier words, though simple, had almost revealed the secret I carried within me. While he hadn't identified the Demon King's Cauldron on me, his statement still caused a change in my expression.
Especially his warning left me puzzled and conflicted.
At the Mu Family, from our arrival to our departure, we had only encountered Big Head and his somewhat mysterious grandfather. No one else was present.
Yet Liu Xin claimed that someone from the Mu Family would pose a threat to me. Who could that person be?
Despite Liu Xin's tendency to exaggerate, his demeanor and choice of words left me with no room for doubt.
Holding onto this thought, the car soon came to a stop. We had arrived at Qingyang Palace, and Liu Xin was getting out.
It was only then that I realized what was happening. Liu Xin opened the car door, and as he closed it, he glanced back at me with a smile and said, "Remember what I told you."
I nodded with a complex expression as I watched him leave. At that moment, only Gu Chen, Zhou Zhen, and I remained in the car. Zhou Zhen, curious, asked, "Xiao Lin, what did he say to you?"
Back at the Mu Family, Liu Xin had pulled me aside, which both Zhou Zhen and Gu Chen had noticed. Now, with Liu Xin's comment, it was natural for them to feel suspicious.
I couldn't explain it clearly, so I simply said, "When we were leaving the Mu Family, he pulled me aside and said something very strange."
"What strange thing?" Zhou Zhen frowned slightly.
I replied, "He said I should go to the Mu Family less often, or it would be bad for me."
"Go to the Mu Family less? What does that mean? Is there some kind of danger in going there?" Zhou Zhen's frown deepened at my words.
I shook my head. "I don't know either, but from his expression, he didn't seem like he was just talking nonsense."
"What do you think, Master?" I turned my gaze toward Gu Chen.
Gu Chen nodded and then said calmly, "What he said is true; there is indeed something odd about the Mu Family, especially concerning that Grandfather Big Head. He might have some issues."
"Yes, he definitely has problems."
Upon hearing this, both Zhou Zhen and I nodded in agreement with Gu Chen's statement.
But then I furrowed my brow and asked, "So does that mean the strangeness of the Mu Family lies with Grandfather Big Head?"
Gu Chen nodded and said, "Currently, we do not know who else from the Mu Family still exists. Mingyue is a descendant of the Unloading Gate and also comes from the Mu Family. Big Head's grandfather was able to preserve a corpse for such a long time without any measures; this certainly requires some means. Therefore, his grandfather's identity is also worth investigating."
"Are you saying that his grandfather also comes from the Unloading Gate?" Zhou Zhen frowned and asked.
I furrowed my brow as well; thinking about it, it really seemed quite possible.
Gu Chen did not elaborate further but simply stated that whether it was true or not would be revealed in due time.
I immediately asked, "By the way, Master, are we just going to leave Mu Yan's corpse like this?"
"Of course we need to take care of it," Gu Chen's tone suddenly became slightly serious.
I frowned and said, "Then why did you insist on having us leave just now?"
Gu Chen glanced at me and replied, "What do you want to do? Just take her corpse away?"
I remained silent, merely nodding indifferently. Yet I couldn't deny that I had indeed entertained that thought moments ago.
Seeing my silence, Gu Chen's tone softened considerably as he said lightly, "Don't rush. Mu Yan's corpse absolutely cannot remain in the Mu Family, but it's not something that can be resolved overnight. If we had tried to take her away just now, would Big Head have allowed it?"
I shook my head; there was no denying that point. However, Gu Chen's earlier words had hinted at something deeper, especially that word "absolutely."
I promptly asked, "Master, you said Mu Yan absolutely cannot stay in the Mu Family. Why is that?"
Turning his head, Ancient Dawn shot me another glance but did not answer. Instead, he said to Gu Chen, "Let's drive back and see how things are with Xiao Si."
Although Zhou Zhen was equally puzzled, seeing that Gu Chen did not wish to elaborate further, he could only nod silently before starting the motorcycle to head back.
After arriving at the hotel, Xiao Juan and Anfu were in He Si's room. Anfu had a cold expression but obediently moved a stool to sit at the head of He Si's bed.
Xiao Juan, on the other hand, was lounging on another bed nearby, propping her chin up as she watched television.
The door was slightly ajar, and we walked right in.
Seeing us return, Anfu immediately stood up and called out to Gu Chen, "Grandpa."
At that moment, Xiao Juan also got off the bed and glanced at Gu Chen and Zhou Zhen before her gaze landed on me, giving me a sideways look. I felt somewhat speechless but chose to ignore her.
Earlier, Xiao Juan had insisted on following us, but Gu Chen had made her stay behind, which left her feeling a bit disgruntled.
Gu Chen's gaze shifted past Xiao Juan and Anfu directly to He Si, who was lying on the bed.
At this point, He Si had woken up. Upon seeing us enter, he tried to prop himself up. I quickly went over with Anfu to help him sit up.
Then I anxiously asked, "Fourth Brother, what did Xiao Juan mean by what she said on the phone?"
He Si glanced at me before his eyes fell on Gu Chen as he replied, "There are two Mu Yan."
"There are two Mu Yan?"
I was momentarily taken aback, unable to comprehend what He Si meant.
Gu Chen then sat down at the edge of the bed and said calmly, "One is the physical body, and the other is the soul."
Hearing this, He Si nodded and said, "You have already found that body."
Gu Chen nodded and said, "I have already found it; it's at the Mu Family."
He Si's expression changed slightly upon hearing this. "That Mu Family is not simple; you all need to be careful."
Gu Chen replied calmly, "I know."
"Mm."
He Si didn't say much more but added, "Also, I encountered that ghost, Mu Yan, in that place as well."
"What was the final outcome?" Gu Chen raised an eyebrow, looking at He Si.
He Si continued, "It was taken away by a shadow."
