Yang Yun, the Cloud Ghost General and grandfather of Yang Yi, suddenly appeared before us. His eyes were blood-red, and an overwhelming aura of bloodlust surrounded him, sending chills down our spines.
Mao Guoxue furrowed his brow but did not seem worried. Instead, he quickly turned to Grandma Jiang and Zhou Zhen, saying, "Grandma Jiang, please hold on for a moment and don't speak."
Soon, a ball of green light floated menacingly from a distance, hovering over Grandma Jiang's shoulder. It revealed its true form, allowing me to see this monster up close once again.
Its eerie green eyes fixated on Yang Yi across from it, while its body twisted beside Grandma Jiang. Its hard, red feet waved about as it flicked its tongue, producing a low, raspy sound that made my scalp tingle.
This grotesque and terrifying creature was indeed repulsive.
However, Yang Yi snorted coldly, undeterred. A glint of cold light flashed in his eyes as he scoffed, "Even if you unleash this worm, what of it? I will still destroy it."
"Feel free to try," Grandma Jiang replied, her tone now far from friendly upon hearing Yang Yi's threat against her precious creature.
I took a few steps back, feeling anxious not only for Mu Yan but also out of fear and nervousness. After all, I was just an ordinary person and couldn't compare to them. Despite having encountered many supernatural beings during this time, I still felt afraid.
At that moment, Mao Guoxue had engaged with the Zombie transformed from the Cloud Ghost General. They kicked and flipped around each other; it was my first time witnessing Mao Guoxue truly in action.
His skills were far superior to Mao Shiba's—truly spectacular like something out of an action movie.
Grandma Jiang said little as the Ghostly Gu Worm had already entangled itself with Yang Yi in battle.
As for Grandma Jiang, she stood aside with a straightforward demeanor, occasionally sending some of her other poisonous insects to attack Yang Yi.
Despite this, Yang Yi was far from simple. While battling the Ghostly Gu Worm, the small insects released by Grandma Jiang failed to harm him in the slightest. Instead, many of them were burned to death by the flames ignited from his runes.
However, at that moment, my main concern was still Mu Yan. I briefly scanned their surroundings before my gaze settled on Zhou Zhen.
Zhou Zhen had approached the Seven Fiends Soul Locking Formation. Within the formation, indistinct figures continuously roared and howled at him, a sight that sent chills down my spine.
Though Zhou Zhen remained silent, under the moonlight, I could see him wiping away the sweat that was beading on his forehead, clearly just as tense. Yet he was still carefully analyzing how to break the formation.
Suddenly, I heard a muffled sound as Mao Guoxue let out a loud shout and kicked the Zombie transformed from the Cloud Ghost General away with great force.
But in the next moment, with sharp claws extended, it leaped up swiftly only to be struck down hard again by Mao Guoxue's aerial assault. Then I saw him pull out a Blue Rune and stick it onto Yang Yun's head like lightning.
Seeing his grandfather restrained by Mao Guoxue, a fierce look flashed across Yang Yi's face. He waved his hands to conjure several runes, intertwining yellow and blue as his fingers danced in rapid succession, attempting to trap Grandma Jiang's Ghostly Gu Worm and rescue Yang Yun.
However, Mao Guoxue clearly saw through his intentions and instantly formed a hand seal, calmly stating, "Yang Yi, Yang Yun is already dead. How can he survive in this way? Today, I will eliminate him for the sake of the people."
As the words were spoken, the hand seal that had just been formed was about to be pressed against Yang Yun's forehead.
I didn't know what hand seal Mao Guoxue was using, but I could see that Yang Yi's expression turned to one of immense anger and anxiety upon seeing it. He desperately tried to control the runes in his hands, attempting to shake off Grandma Jiang's Ghostly Gu Worm.
However, Grandma Jiang's Ghostly Gu Worm was truly difficult to deal with. No matter how hard Yang Yi struggled, he found it impossible to break free.
At that moment, Mao Guoxue's handprint was already firmly pressed against Yang Yun's forehead without hesitation.
Seeing this scene, Yang Yi roared loudly, "No!"
But before he could finish his words, the outcome had already been sealed.
