Suddenly, the cold wind outside seemed to grow stronger, carrying a haunting "whoosh" sound, as if someone were crying, piercingly loud. 0

The flour scattered on the ground was blown away, drifting into the air and disappearing with the wind, leaving no footprints behind. 0

However, at that moment, the temperature inside the house dropped to an eerie chill. 0

Even though Zhou Zhen was prepared, his face still changed dramatically. He pulled out a handful of pre-drawn talismans and began chanting fervently while striking the empty space in front of him. 0

The atmosphere in the room was terrifying—cold and strange. There wasn't a single shadow around, not even a ghostly figure. 0

Yet wherever Zhou Zhen directed his talismans, a chilling wail would echo, and those talismans would spontaneously ignite. 0

This bizarre scene both broadened my horizons and sent shivers down my spine. 0

Suddenly, I turned my gaze to my dad and shouted, "Dad, what's wrong with you?" 0

Just moments ago, I had seen my dad's body tremble oddly, as if he had experienced a violent spasm. Immediately after, his eyes seemed to lose their luster. 0

Now he stared at me with an unsettling gaze, a strange smile creeping across his lips before he turned and dashed toward the room where my mom was. 0

"This is bad; Dad has been possessed by a ghost." 0

Seeing my dad's condition, Zhou Zhen shouted urgently, "Quick! Stop him!" 0

I didn't have time to think or feel fear. I rushed forward and grabbed my dad's arm, but his strength was unprecedented—so strong that I couldn't budge him at all. 0

Then I watched in horror as he frantically tore down the talismans that had been affixed to my mom's room door. I was powerless to stop him. 0

In no time, he tore down all the runes and kicked the door open with a forceful kick. 0

My mother lay on the bed, still twitching like a fool, while Aunt sat by the bedside, staring at the door with a pale face. 0

The surroundings seemed to fall silent all at once. My father stopped his frenzy, and even Zhou Zhen quieted down, his gaze fixed intently on the door. 0

Following Zhou Zhen's gaze, I looked outside, and my heart sank as if it had dropped to the bottom of a valley, like a deflated balloon. 0

Two figures stood outside the main door, clearly visible—a man and a woman. 0

The man was the Cloud Ghost General, also known as Master Yun, who looked far more terrifying than the last few times I had seen him. 0

His withered face was filled with vengeful eyes, staring at me from outside the door. 0

On the other side of the Cloud Ghost General stood Mu Yan, but she too appeared incredibly frightening now. Her once pure and sweet demeanor had transformed into something sinister and cold. 0

Especially her eyes, which looked bloodshot and red as if they were dripping with blood. When I looked at them, Mu Yan turned to look at me as well. 0

"Zhou, Uncle Zhou." 0

I swallowed hard, my throat dry, and asked with a trembling voice, "What... what should we do now?" 0

Dealing with just one Cloud Ghost General from Zhou Zhen's account was already difficult enough; now there was an even more enigmatic Mu Yan arriving simultaneously. Was there any chance of survival? 0

Sure enough, Zhou Zhen also swallowed nervously, his eyes still warily fixed on the door. Yet he spoke weakly, "I... I don't know either. I feel that woman is terrifying—more so than that Old Guy." 0

More Terrifying than That Old Guy 0

If there was still a glimmer of hope in my heart just moments ago, it was instantly shattered by Zhou Zhen's words. 0

The Old Guy was already an incredibly difficult Ghost General to deal with, and Mu Yan was even more terrifying. Just how frightening could he be? 0

It was beyond anything I could imagine. 0

It was over; at that moment, my heart felt like ashes. 0

If it were just me facing death, I could accept it, but now it seemed I had dragged my entire family into this disaster. They probably wouldn’t escape today either. 0

However, just when I felt utterly powerless, something strange happened. 0

The Cloud Ghost General let out a cold snort, shot me a resentful glance, and simply vanished. 0

As the Cloud Ghost General disappeared, I felt the chilling atmosphere in the room slowly dissipate. Then I heard a thud; my father collapsed to the ground. 0

“Dad!” 0

I quickly crouched down to support him, calling out in concern. 0

“He’s fine,” Zhou Zhen said quietly. 0

Seeing my confusion, he spoke again, "He was just possessed by a ghost, but now the ghost has left his body. It only caused his Yang Energy to weaken temporarily, leading to his fainting." 0

As he spoke, he furrowed his brow and muttered, "Strange, why did they all leave without reason? Could it be because of her?" 0

At that moment, Zhou Zhen tightened his brows, staring intently at Mu Yan, who was still standing outside the door. 0

His words relieved me, but I also felt puzzled. I didn't understand what he was mumbling about, so I followed his gaze to the entrance and met Mu Yan's eyes. 0

Her figure stood there, appearing somewhat ethereal in the darkness, as if she were suspended above the ground with her heels not touching it. The blood-red hue in her eyes was gradually fading, and she no longer looked as fierce and terrifying as she had moments ago. 0

She returned to the way she had looked when we were together before. 0

As our eyes locked, I sensed a complex emotion in her gaze directed at me, as if she had something to say. However, after a deep look into my eyes, she turned and walked away. 0

"Zhou, Uncle Zhou; what is going on here?" 0

I asked in confusion, unable to comprehend why all these ghosts had suddenly left. Logically speaking, since the Cloud Ghost General had come for revenge, they shouldn't have backed down so easily. 0

Moreover, Mu Yan had appeared alongside the Cloud Ghost General. Did that mean they were in cahoots and both wanted to harm me? 0

But why did they ultimately leave? Were they afraid of Uncle Zhou? 0

I doubted even Uncle Zhou would believe that reason. 0

Glancing at the mess around us, Zhou Zhen shook his head. "I don't know what's going on either." 0

After saying that, he plopped down onto the chair, clearly relieved. 0

I felt as if all my strength had been drained away in that moment, collapsing onto the floor and breathing heavily to calm the extreme tension and fear within me. 0

Yet my mind was racing, trying to make sense of everything. No matter how hard I thought, I couldn't figure it out. Eventually, I decided not to dwell on it; after all, since all those filthy things had left, it was a good thing. At least my life was safe for now, right? 0

I helped my dad up from the floor and laid him on the bed, then went to check on my mom's condition. 0

My Aunt's complexion had improved somewhat, but what puzzled me most was that my mom had stopped convulsing. Although her face still looked a bit dark and pale, she seemed to be sleeping peacefully. 0

"What’s going on?" I asked, looking at Zhou Zhen with confusion. 0

Zhou Zhen furrowed his brow and said curiously, "It might be related to their departure." 0

I understood what Zhou Zhen meant and nodded. As long as my family was okay, that was what mattered. 0

As it was already late at night, Zhou Zhen took some precautions before everyone went to sleep. I, however, felt no inclination to sleep at all and leaned against the bed, struggling to keep my eyes open. 0

Just then, the phone on the bedside rang. I picked it up and saw that it was Zhang Chao calling. He must be worried about me and wanted to check in. 0

Without hesitation, I pressed the answer button. But strangely, after saying "hello" several times into the phone, Zhang Chao didn’t respond at all; there was no sound on the other end. 0

Could he have dialed the wrong number or accidentally called me while his phone was in his pocket? 0

Thinking this way, I frowned and hung up the phone without giving it much thought. 0

It was already past one in the morning when I lay flat on my bed, my mind blank. I didn't even realize when I had fallen asleep, and it wasn't until the next morning that I woke up after seven. 0

Upon waking, I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me. In just a few hours before dawn, I had dreamt so many dreams, the most terrifying of which was seeing Zhang Chao in a car accident, dying a gruesome death. 0

The scene in that dream was so horrifying, so vivid and real, that it left me drenched in cold sweat. 0

I shook my dizzy head and reached for my phone on the bedside table, intending to call Zhang Chao. 0

However, just as I picked up the phone, it rang. I looked at the screen and saw it was Liu Bo, another colleague from work. 0

Although Liu Bo and I were colleagues, we weren't as close as I was with Zhang Chao, so we rarely contacted each other. Why was he calling me? 0

Frowning slightly, I quickly answered the call. 0

But what Liu Bo said on the other end left me frozen in place, my face turning pale. 0

"Haozi, Zhang Chao was in a car accident last night. He died on the spot, and it was horrific. His body is currently at City Hospital's Morgue and will be taken for cremation soon. You two were close; you should come to see him one last time." 0
