Chapter 200: The Great Escape 4
Several Foreigners who rushed to support Caroline were met with a barrage of insults from the Foreign Girl leader, and the hatred in Blonde Woman's heart was palpable. Why did they arrive just as the enemy's vehicle had left? What good was their presence now? Alone with her gun, she remained hidden in the bushes, undetected. The enemy outnumbered her, and although many were injured, a desperate counterattack would be impossible for her to withstand. Su Lan's performance spoke volumes; she wouldn't help herself, and she couldn't afford to die here. Caroline needed to survive and report what had happened here to Kenny. The facts were clear: Bai Yudong and those who had turned this place upside down had a close relationship with the prisoners, not only aiding their escape but also planning to return and target An Zheng. As she expected, this cold-faced soldier had ulterior motives.
Su Lan stood frozen, unable to regain her composure. The sudden death of Bai Yudong echoed in her mind, and she could still hear Xiao Wei's final cry reverberating in her ears, the sound oscillating between near and far, deafening.
Caroline's expression was complex; frankly, she was disappointed in Su Lan. Her unreciprocated feelings did not cloud Blonde Woman's judgment—loyalty was paramount in her heart. She felt that Kenny had been more than fair to Su Lan, yet why did Su Lan repeatedly betray him? Foreign Girl didn’t understand and had no intention of trying to.
“Aso, come back with me.”
“Oh.”
“Tell me, are those people outside with them too?” Caroline hesitated for a moment before pointing at the two sides exchanging fire on the wasteland, voicing her doubts.
“No.”
Su Lan offered no further explanation, casting a deep glance at the tire tracks left by the car. She silently wished them well before turning to follow Foreign Girl away.
Two bodies lay before the tombstone, quietly growing cold in the night breeze. It was unclear whose blood splattered onto the stone; the Crimson liquid trickled down the engraved letters, making it appear even more sinister. The wilderness returned to silence as Shaoshan slowly rose, squatting beside the two corpses for a while before lighting two cigarettes and placing them between their increasingly stiff fingers.
Shaoshan arrived a bit late; he only caught fragments of conversation that he couldn't piece together into a complete picture. From what he could see, it seemed there had been an internal conflict among them. Both Chen Zhao Zhou and Cheng Long lay dead here, which surprised him somewhat. They had once fled this place at all costs, yet here they were again, unable to escape this desolate Gobi.
Touching the scar behind his ear, Shaoshan smiled silently as he gazed toward the horizon where dawn's light was about to break; at last, the long night would come to an end.

In the underground, peace could not ultimately be achieved. After a brief silence, both sides chose to communicate through blood and fire. However, it was not Wu Wentao or Wang Zhongyu who first broke the balance and ignited the flames of war; it was Song Yao.
Luci and Jiang He, having followed closely behind, could choose whether to act or remain still based on the situation. But Song Yao and Summer Rain were unaware of what was happening below. When the elevator doors opened, they were greeted by a row of cold gun barrels.
The sudden appearance of the two women clearly did not match what Wu Wentao had been expecting for reinforcements. Just back at base, he momentarily failed to react; upon seeing Summer Rain in uniform, he made the same mistake as countless other Security: assuming she was one of their own.
"Martial law is in effect here; you need to move quickly." Wu Wentao was no stranger to the value of the experiment personnel and hurriedly dispatched a Security guard to escort the two girls who were frozen in place back to the Elevator.
Summer Rain had recently accumulated a wealth of undercover experience. With a calm demeanor, she obediently followed the Security guard back into the Elevator. Just as the door closed, she exchanged a knowing glance with Song Yao. The latter understood immediately; the stiffness in her body began to fade. Relying on her miraculous resilience, Song Yao suddenly struck, disarming the Security guard and killing him with her bare hands.
The instigator, Summer Rain, felt both nervous and exhilarated, suppressing the urge to applaud enthusiastically. Together with Song Yao, they stripped the Security guard of his weapons and helped Song Yao don his uniform. The Security guard was tall, making Song Yao look as if she had stolen the clothes, but at a glance, it was still convincing enough.
"Did you see clearly? I didn’t spot Dr. An," Summer Rain said anxiously. This group was all cut from the same cloth; Ming Junwei and his crew had previously engaged in similar deceptive antics. Now, half a month later, their accomplices were attempting the same trick again.
"Yes. My senses are currently sharper than most," Song Yao replied as she fastened her helmet and winked at Summer Rain. She had spotted An Zheng across the way but wasn't sure if he had noticed her. Although she was unclear about the situation between the two opposing sides below, it was evident that those blocking the Elevator Passage were not friendly.
"Were you injected with any drugs?" Song Yao asked quietly while loading her weapon.
"Huh? I was injected... but it's different from what you experienced," Summer Rain responded.
"Then don't come out when I go; just close the door after I leave," Song Yao suggested, pondering aloud, "Can this Elevator stop without selecting a floor?"
"It can, but... when should I open the door?" Summer Rain calculated briefly and deemed that plan unfeasible. Feeling discouraged, she said, "Once it's sealed off, this is the only Elevator available. You won't be able to notify me from outside."
"That's true." Song Yao hadn't considered that detail. The Elevator chimed as it opened, leaving no time for further contemplation. Taking advantage of the momentary opening, she whispered, "Adapt as needed and take care." With that, she stepped swiftly out of the cabin.
Wu Wentao merely glanced back without seeming to notice that his subordinate's stature had suddenly shrunk. Summer Rain watched nervously as Song Yao approached that group of people. Just as the cabin doors began to close completely, she saw Song Yao raise her weapon.

"Cease fire and withdraw!" Caroline rushed back to Container Camp, urgently pulling back the advancing Mercenaries. The Foreign Girl had figured it out; although it seemed like a fierce attack from outside, they had actually been stalling for time. After nearly an hour of back-and-forth skirmishing with significant ammunition expenditure on both sides, there had been no real confrontation. In that time frame, their firepower net had stretched longer and longer; anyone unaware would think an army was advancing when in reality it was just under a hundred people engaged in an international friendly match.
Having been toyed with by such typical firepower suppression for so long infuriated the Blonde Woman. She quickly regrouped her forces and decisively withdrew from Container Camp. To be honest, this place held less strategic value than anticipated; all their firepower was tied up here and unable to return to defend their base—this was likely their opponent's true objective.
Under the Blonde Woman's leadership, the team retreated swiftly. The enemy indeed sensed something amiss and advanced a short distance in rhythm with their withdrawal but ultimately did not seize Container Camp. However, their firepower remained uninterrupted; it was clear they were pushing forward for some unknown reason.
"Where's that idiot?!" The Blonde Woman looked at the armed helicopter parked in the center of the camp, nearly spitting out blood. The container camp could be sacrificed, but they couldn't just hand over the helicopter! The machine guns and ground-to-air missiles on that chopper were deadly weapons; if they fell into enemy hands, it would be a catastrophic blow.
"I don't know. He got off the helicopter and went back, and he hasn't returned since," Mercenary A shrugged in response.
"Who can fly it? Someone needs to get it back!" The Blonde Woman felt a wave of frustration, her ample chest rising and falling with her heavy breaths, quite a sight to behold.
The mercenaries exchanged glances, shaking their heads in helplessness. A helicopter wasn't like a car; you couldn't just shift gears and hit the gas. It was too valuable for them to risk taking it on themselves.
"You fools!" The Foreign Girl shouted angrily, driving away some team members to return to base in search of Wu Wentao while she stayed behind with the remaining personnel to continue defending the container.
"Aso, you go back with them!" The Blonde Woman noticed Su Lan still standing by the helicopter, her brow furrowing slightly as she felt a twinge of wariness. Could she possibly know how to fly?
"Let me help out," Su Lan said, tying her hair back. She took a handgun from one of the mercenaries and added, "I used to be field personnel; it's not right for me to just hide in the back."
"Aso, this isn't a regular field personnel mission. Don't be reckless; if something happens to you, Kenny won't be happy," Caroline urged as she saw Su Lan was serious. She quickly motioned for the nearby field personnel to escort her away. The mercenaries and foreigners preferred to avoid trouble, so when Su Lan refused, they didn't press further.
"Caroline, your Chinese is getting better and better," Su Lan smiled lightly before heading toward the container fortifications. She flexed her wrists and raised her hand, firing several shots without caring whether she hit any targets.
The Blonde Woman sighed slightly; she knew Su Lan was venting her emotions, but this method of release was far from wise. Firing continuously quickly revealed their position. The Blonde Woman rushed forward and pulled her back just as a series of gunshots rang out, leaving a row of bullet holes on the container Su Lan had been leaning against.
"Joining the fight is..."
