Chapter One Hundred and Four: The Sun Rises in the East While It Rains in the West 0

Jiang He was a man who valued his life. As long as there was even a one in ten thousand chance of survival, he would never give up. Therefore, he chose to stay behind, not out of a noble desire to sacrifice himself, but because he understood that if he fled with Luci, they would undoubtedly be caught by the Pursuers. These individuals were Soldiers, unlike them who were mere amateurs; they were skilled marksmen. Although the sky had darkened, the open field would cause any fleeing figures to create waves in the grass. The Pursuers only needed to fire a shot from a distance to resolve everything. With his injuries slowing him down, he had to stay behind to create some chaos and buy precious time. 0

Jiang He crouched down and slid into a pit, carefully snatching a five-round shotgun from a fallen Soldier before climbing back up. A dim beam of light swept across the area, and someone shouted from the other side as several bursts of fire ignited, creating new craters where Jiang He had just poked his head out. 0

"That was close!" Jiang He patted his chest, still shaken. Thankfully, he had reacted quickly and rolled back into the pit; otherwise, he wouldn't have survived. 0

Suddenly, Jiang He felt a pang of regret. It seemed that the soldiers had not yet noticed Luci and Toothless Kid escaping. If he had known this earlier, he could have just run with them. Just as he was thinking this, another gunshot rang out, followed by what sounded like a suppressed gasp from afar. 0

The moon hung low in the sky, stars dimmed, and the wind carried rustling sounds; someone was approaching the edge of the pit. 0

Inside a plastic bag were dozens of ping pong ball bombs. Jiang He hadn’t had time to ask how to use them earlier but remembered Cao Liang shouting and waving his hand before an explosion went off. Leaning against the wall of the pit, Jiang He grabbed two ping pong bombs like they were exercise balls. As footsteps drew nearer, he suddenly turned around and tossed out the two bombs. 0

Boom! 0

Flashes of fire erupted momentarily as clumps of loess grass roots were swept up by the shockwave. Accompanied by a scream, something dark flew into the air in an arc before crashing onto a car hood with a clang and bouncing twice before landing at the bottom of the pit. 0

It was a severed finger still adorned with a golden ring. 0

Jiang He sighed at the power of the explosion. Taking advantage of the chaos above, he quickly crawled under the car and emerged from the other side. In the dim moonlight, he could see several flickering flames reflected on the rear window. About two or three meters away from the pit lay a young man on the ground, clutching his hand and screaming loudly while his double-barreled shotgun lay discarded nearby. A young man in camouflage approached cautiously, firing several shots into the pit while slowly moving toward his fallen companion. 0

Earlier there had been four or five people searching this way; now only two remained. The other three must have lost track of Luci. Jiang He lowered his head and waited for a pause in gunfire above before carefully stepping onto the car's edge to peek out again. He threw another two ping pong bombs. 0

The young man was already on guard; he crouched down and fired two shots that exploded the ping pong balls mid-air. Two brilliant bursts of fireworks lit up the night sky as steel balls and glass shards rained down on the car roof. 0

Jiang He quickly ducked inside the car, taking advantage of this moment to poke out the barrel of his shotgun through the window and fired twice based on instinct. 0

The gunshots rang out in succession; it seemed that the young man was wary of those bomb balls and did not rush to cover the pit with firepower. Jiang He's shots only kicked up dust without hitting even a hair on him. 0

Another shout came from above as the screams of the young man who lost his finger grew fainter. There were whispers followed by what sounded like bullets being chambered. 0

Jiang He suddenly realized the danger he was in; hiding here would eventually lead to his demise. The three pursuing Luci had not returned, and if he wanted to survive, this was his only chance. 0

The young man remained silent. He could not see Jiang He, who had crawled into the car and lost the advantage of the glass reflection. He guessed that the camouflaged youth was waiting outside the pit, ready for him to jump out and take a shot. 0

Jiang He reached out to unlock the trunk, and with a 'thud,' it popped open, instantly pierced by a bullet. 0

He was right; the opponent was indeed lying in wait. 0

Jiang He clicked his tongue, moved his shoulders a bit, feeling the sharp pain lessen while numbness increased. The hurried gunfire earlier had reopened his wound, and he could feel his clothes sticking to it; any slight movement sent a jolt of pain through him. 0

"Throw down your weapon and come up with your hands on your head. I won't shoot," the young man suggested, perhaps growing impatient from waiting. 0

"Sure, you throw down your gun first, and I'll come up. How about that?" Jiang He replied, using both hands and feet to crawl over from the driver's seat. He wasn't too worried about the young man spraying bullets; after all, being above him gave him a significant visual advantage. If the young man wanted to turn the car into a sieve, he would have to get within two meters, which would expose himself first. 0

"Hey buddy, let's negotiate," Jiang He said, pressing his head against the back seat while peeking out through the slightly open door. From this angle, he could only see the dark sky; his opponent maintained a safe distance, occasionally firing a bullet. 0

"What do you want to negotiate?" came the response. 0

"We have no grudges against each other; how about we just go our separate ways? Your friend is injured; if you don't treat him soon, he might not just die but end up disabled. I'll return his finger to you; you take him back. What do you say?" Jiang He assessed that this was a novice. Although he could shoot at targets like ping pong balls in mid-air, he seemed to lack shooting awareness. If it were Bai Yudong and his crew, they would have already blown up the car by now. 0

Of course, Jiang He was infinitely relieved that this was a novice; otherwise, he would truly have to pay for his foolishness. 0

The young man seemed to genuinely consider Jiang He's suggestion. After a moment of silence, it sounded like he was discussing something with his injured companion. 0

After a brief pause, the young man shouted, "You throw up the finger first." 0

"Okay, just wait," Jiang He thought as sweat broke out on his forehead. Could it really be this simple? If he had known it would go so smoothly, why had they exchanged gunfire earlier? 0

Jiang He slid into the driver's seat and crawled out through the passenger side door, directly getting under the car to reach for that severed finger. 0

"I'm throwing it now; catch!" Jiang He lay beneath the car with only one eye visible as he kept watch at the edge of the pit. 0

"Throw it," came the reply from above. 0

Jiang He adjusted his position and forcefully tossed his finger upward. He played a trick, not throwing it in an arc but straight up instead. 0

If the person above reflexively ran over to catch it, Jiang He could shoot him right in the gut from below. 0

The finger flew up, lingering in the air for a moment before falling back down. 0

"Why don't you catch it?" Jiang He said, feeling disappointed. Was it too dark for the other person to see? 0

"Do you think I'm stupid?" the other person snorted coldly, shattering the car window with a shot. "You're the one not cooperating, so don't blame me." 0

"Stop, stop, stop! I'll throw again!" Jiang He ducked his head to avoid the raining shards of glass. 0

"Don't pull any tricks. If you dare throw Dynamite, I'll bury this pit," the young man threatened. 0

Jiang He was taken aback for a moment but then revealed a sly smile. He had almost forgotten about that. A single ping-pong bomb wouldn't do much; they could easily shoot it mid-air to detonate it, and the steel balls and glass shards would bounce back, effectively shooting himself in the foot. However, he still had an entire bag! 0

"Watch closely!" Jiang He controlled his strength and tossed his finger again. This time he didn't try to deceive; the finger traced an arc and landed just outside the pit. He didn't throw it too hard, so it wouldn't fall too far away. 0

The young man watched closely as the finger landed in the grass just beside the pit, only a step away. He crouched down, aiming his shotgun at the edge of the pit, cautiously moving closer. 0
