The laboratory of "Interstellar Interstice" is lit with dim lights resembling faint starlight, gently illuminating the dense workstations and intricate data displays. The carefully selected observers of the organization of the Eyes of the Philosopher have gathered here, but at this moment, their mood is like a night ship in the fog, uneasy and full of unknown expectations.
Neil stands in the corner, secretly observing his colleagues. He notices some people starting to tap their fingers incessantly on the table, while others occasionally check their observation devices to ensure everything is ready. Some even begin to exchange doubtful and worried glances quietly, as if an unpredictable storm is about to strike.
At this moment, a firm voice suddenly cut through the uneasy atmosphere. Macol stood in front of the command platform, looking solemn and determined as he gazed at each observer.
"Everyone, please quiet down. I know that the sudden order from the Supreme Leader has made us all feel uneasy. But this mission is of the utmost importance." Macol's voice carried an indescribable calm strength, as if every word of hers could draw a barrier against this surging unease.
She scanned the entire team once again and continued, "For this mission, we will conduct an unprecedented in-depth observation. The target is a world undergoing dramatic changes, a world where civilization and chaos coexist, and art and war intertwine. Moreover, this world is at a very delicate and dangerous turning point. We need to deeply understand all of this and find out what impact this turning point will have on the Multiverse."
Macol paused for a moment, giving people time to digest this wealth of information. Then, she glanced at the large screen on the console, confirmed the time, and announced, "Alright, all departments, please begin the final preparations. Observers, please make the final adjustments according to the assigned tasks. The technical department, please ensure that all observation devices are in good condition without any faults. We have no time to waste, every second is crucial to the success of this mission."
Under Macol's command, a new rhythm and order immediately formed in the laboratory. Neil felt a slight relaxation, as if that invisible pressure had finally been released a bit. But he also knew that this was just the beginning of the mission, with more unknowns and challenges waiting for them ahead.
In any case, at this critical moment, Macol brought a necessary stability to everyone with her leadership and certainty. And this might be the most needed thing for them in the upcoming difficult journey.
Under Macol's command, the deputy quickly pressed a huge red button on the command console. A beam of light projected onto the screen, displaying a countdown of one and a half hours. The countdown timer was like an incessant drummer, making the already tense atmosphere in the laboratory even more taut.
Upon seeing the timer, Neil clearly sensed the change in the mood of the surrounding staff. The technical department employees quickly typed on their keyboards, whispered to the screen, and ensured that all parameters of the observation device were normal. The observers quietly discussed the upcoming mission, each person showing excited and expectant eyes.
In this tense atmosphere, Macol stood in front of the command platform, surveying the entire laboratory with a scrutinizing gaze. Her gaze finally landed on Neil, and after nodding slightly, she gestured for him to come over.
Neil did not hesitate and quickly walked up to Macol. He was filled with unease and curiosity, unsure why Macol had specifically summoned him.
Macol took a deep breath and then pulled out a badge of The Eye of the Philosopher from her pocket. She slowly pinned the badge on Neil's left shoulder and said, "Usually, we would hold a small promotion ceremony for new observers. But due to time constraints, we can only do it this simply. Please forgive us."
Neil felt a warmth in his heart and expressed understanding and gratitude to Macol.
Macol took a deep breath and spoke with a solemn tone: "Kneel down."
Neil obediently knelt down, his heart beating at its highest point. Macol gently placed his right hand on Neil's head and said, "May you see all, may you encounter truth on this journey."
After saying this, Neil clearly felt a warm power flowing through his body from the top of his head. It was a feeling that could not be described in words, as if his soul was being cleansed by some mysterious force.
Macol smiled and said to him, "Get up, you are now an official observer."
Neil stood up, with a determined gleam in his eyes. He looked at the countdown timer again, only twenty minutes left. He knew deep down that this was not only the beginning of his journey as an observer, but also the first step towards seeking truth, understanding human nature, and possibly even catalyzing social change.
Macol nodded and gestured for Neil to return to his workstation. Everyone in the laboratory was busy making final preparations at their respective positions, as if it were a grand prelude. Among them all, Neil, the newly promoted observer, undoubtedly became the most dazzling new star in the entire laboratory.
Time passes by minute by minute, and the atmosphere in the laboratory becomes increasingly intense. Everyone is aware that the upcoming mission is crucial for the organization of the Eyes of the Philosopher. Macol stands in front of the command platform, solemnly monitoring the progress of each department's work.
"Is everything going smoothly in the communications department?" Macol asks the busy employees in front of the screen.
"Everything is normal, Commander! The communication channel has been established, awaiting final confirmation," a staff member from the communication department responded loudly.
"Technical department, how is the status of the observation device?" Macol asked again.
"All observation devices have been tested and calibrated, fully meeting operational standards. Commander, we are ready!" The head of the technical department replied confidently.
Macol then turned his gaze to the data analysis department. "Data department, have the data storage and backup been completed?"
"Yes, Commander, all backups and data integration have been completed. We are ready to receive new observation data at any time," reported the staff of the data analysis department.
Finally, Macol looked at the group of observers in front of her, all busy checking their equipment to ensure everything was ready. Her gaze ultimately stopped at Neil, the newly appointed observer she had just personally sworn in.
"Observers, are you ready?" Macol asked.
"Yes, Commander!" almost all the observers responded loudly, including Neil.
Macol nodded slightly, showing a satisfied expression to them. She looked at the large screen hanging on the wall again, and the countdown timer showed that there were five minutes left before the mission was to begin.
"Very good, each department, continue to stay alert and ensure that everything goes according to plan. We are about to begin this historic moment." After the final confirmation, Macol walked back to her command post, mentally preparing for the final time.
