Li Ming gasped for breath, struggling to steady himself, feeling a wave of fatigue and helplessness wash over him. He looked around and saw the team swiftly preparing under Chen Hao's command, each soldier busy and focused. The smoke and stench of blood from the battlefield still lingered, creating an oppressive atmosphere.
A soldier frantically used the communication device, trying to contact the Second Squad and Master Han's headquarters. His brow was furrowed, his tone filled with frustration and urgency.
"Any news?" Chen Hao approached and asked in a low voice.
The soldier shook his head, a worried expression on his face. "So far, there’s no news from the Second Squad or even Master Han's headquarters. The communication devices have been jammed, and we can't establish a stable connection."
Chen Hao frowned, a flicker of concern crossing his face, but he quickly turned to the soldiers and ordered loudly, "Everyone stay alert and be ready to respond to any possible ambush. We must protect Li Ming and ensure he can complete his mission!"
Hearing these words, Li Ming felt a deep weariness in his heart. He looked down at the Chaos Pearl on his wrist; the gem still emitted a faint glow, reminding him of the difficulties and dangers of this battle. He was acutely aware of his own inadequacies, filled with a sense of defeat.
"Being a hero is such a tiring thing..." Li Ming silently thought to himself, feeling the weight of responsibility and pressure—not just from the challenges of battle but also from the expectations and trust of his comrades.
The vibration of the Chaos Pearl snapped Li Ming back to reality. He knew this was not the time to give up. No matter how difficult it became, he had to persevere—for the sake of protecting Southern Capital and for those who believed in him.
"Li Ming, are you okay?" Chen Yao approached him, concern flashing in her eyes as her hand gently rested on his shoulder, trying to offer him comfort and support.
"I'm fine, just... feeling a bit overwhelmed," Li Ming forced a smile and took a deep breath, striving to regain his composure.
"We're all in this together; you're not alone," Chen Yao said softly, her tone filled with determination and encouragement. "No matter what happens, we will face it together."
Li Ming nodded, feeling the strength and support from his comrades rekindle a spark of hope and resolve within him. He knew that this battle was far from over, but as long as they stood united, they could surely welcome the dawn of victory.
"Alright, let's move forward; we must complete this mission," Li Ming declared firmly, determination flashing in his eyes.
Under Chen Hao's command, the team quickly finished their preparations; the soldiers regrouped and readied themselves to advance once more. They understood that the road ahead remained fraught with danger and challenges, but retreat was not an option.
Just as the team was about to set off, suddenly the soldier fiddling with the communication device turned pale. His hands trembled as if he had received some urgent message. In the next moment, a cacophony of static erupted from the device in his hands, drawing everyone's attention.
"This is... a message from the shelter!" The soldier exclaimed, his voice filled with urgency and tension.
The voice of Chen Xiang crackled through the communication device—broken and accompanied by harsh noise. "This is... the shelter... we are currently... under attack... First Squad... has the Teleportation Array been successfully destroyed?"
"Yes, it's Commander Chen Xiang!" Chen Hao quickly grabbed the communication device and responded loudly, "Commander, we have destroyed two Teleportation Arrays, and now there's only one left. But we can't reach Second Squad; their status is unknown."
The voice on the communication device became increasingly unstable, and Chen Xiang's voice came through again, filled with static. "Understood... you must... destroy all the Teleportation Arrays... as soon as possible... we... will hold on..." With the last words, the device was once again overwhelmed by noise, becoming indistinct.
"Damn it, the communication has cut off again!" Chen Hao cursed, a flicker of anxiety and concern crossing his face.
Li Ming felt a tightening in his chest upon hearing this news. He knew that the shelter was in danger, and they had to act quickly; otherwise, the entire Southern Capital would fall into greater peril.
"We don't have time to waste; we must destroy the last Teleportation Array as soon as possible!" Li Ming said firmly, his eyes filled with determination and urgency.
"Right, we need to act swiftly and complete this mission." Chen Hao nodded and immediately issued orders to the team. "Everyone, pick up the pace and head towards the last Teleportation Array!"
The team advanced rapidly, each member focused and filled with tension and anxiety. They understood that the shelter was under attack by Demons, which meant that the Teleportation Array had not been completely destroyed, allowing enemies to continue pouring in.
Li Ming and Chen Yao rushed at the front of the team while quietly discussing the safety of First Squad. Worry was etched on their faces, and unease filled their hearts.
"If the shelter is still under attack, it means that the Teleportation Array is still operational," Chen Yao whispered, a hint of urgency flashing in her eyes.
"Yes, it also means that First Squad might be in trouble," Li Ming replied heavily, his brow furrowed with concern. "If they haven't destroyed the Teleportation Array, then it's very likely..."
"Are you saying they might have been wiped out?" Chen Yao interjected, her tone filled with shock and sorrow.
Li Ming nodded, a flicker of pain crossing his eyes. "We must prepare for the worst. The Teleportation Array is still operational, which means we have to take on the responsibility of destroying it."
Chen Yao's expression grew even more serious as she took a deep breath to steady herself. "We can't let their sacrifice be in vain; we must successfully destroy the last Teleportation Array."
"Yes, we must give it our all," Li Ming said resolutely, determination flashing in his gaze.
The team navigated through the ruins, the sights along the way oppressive and terrifying. Each soldier gripped their weapons tightly, their eyes filled with unwavering resolve. They knew this was a fight for survival; no matter what it cost them, they had to complete this mission.
"Everyone stay alert and be ready for battle at any moment!" Chen Hao commanded loudly from the back of the team, his voice filled with unwavering determination.
The soldiers responded in unison, their gazes fierce with courage and resolve. No matter what difficulties lay ahead, they would give their all to protect this city.
"We will definitely succeed," Li Ming silently vowed to himself. He felt the weight and pressure on his shoulders, but at the same time, he sensed the support and strength from his companions.
Li Ming and his group moved quickly forward, filled with tension and anxiety. They knew that the last Teleportation Array was located in a small town near the shelter, and they needed to destroy it as soon as possible. When they arrived in the town, the sight before them sent chills down their spines.
The streets of the town were littered with corpses, the bodies of Demon Warriors and Human Soldiers mixed together in a horrific scene. Flesh was torn apart, shattered limbs scattered across the ground, blood flowed, creating a red mire. The air was thick with the stench of blood and decay, making one feel nauseous.
"This... this is simply hell on earth," a soldier murmured softly, his face pale, fear and sorrow flashing in his eyes.
Li Ming gripped his sword tightly, determination and anger flickering in his gaze. He knew this was a brutal battle, but they had to persevere to the end, destroy the last Teleportation Array, and protect the shelter and the entire Southern Capital.
"Everyone stay alert and be ready to fight at any moment!" Chen Hao commanded loudly, his voice echoing sharply in the eerie silence.
The soldiers tightened their grips on their weapons, determination and courage shining in their eyes. They understood that this was the final battle; no matter what difficulties lay ahead, they had to give it their all.
Li Ming and Chen Yao led the way at the front of the group, scanning their surroundings for the location of the Teleportation Array. Most of the buildings lining the streets had collapsed, their crumbling walls riddled with bullet holes and bloodstains.
"We must find the Teleportation Array quickly and destroy it!" Li Ming said in a low voice, filled with resolve.
"I sense a strong aura of evil ahead; the Teleportation Array should be there," Chen Yao replied, her gaze sharp as she surveyed the road ahead.
The team continued forward, cautiously navigating through the desolate streets. As they progressed, the malevolent energy in the air grew thicker, making it hard to breathe.
