The First Auction of the server has finally come to a close!
However, things are not officially over yet. As the auction concluded, it marked the beginning of the arena's operational phase. The players who participated in the auction were granted their first opportunity to join for free, and excitement surged once more.
Similar to the structure of the Auction House, the center of the arena was transformed into a massive combat platform surrounded by numerous seats arranged in a circular formation. Before each round of competitive matches began, players could place bets on the outcome, but they could only choose one player to wager on.
But...
Since this was a competitive match, it wouldn't do to just throw two random people into a fight. After some consideration, Yi Tianchen ultimately decided that for the grand opening of this arena, he would have two well-known figures take the stage: The Terminator of Regrets and Proud Dragon.
Of course, this was merely for show, intended to serve as a way to inspire others!
Many knew of these two, but few had actually seen them in action. The Terminator of Regrets, bearing the title of Southern Wilderness City's First Assassin, certainly had the strength to step onto this platform; Proud Dragon followed a strength-based Bowman Class path and also possessed considerable power.
After a brief introduction, both players were teleported into the arena. A layer of light rose around the circular battlefield. This was a measure to prevent any skills from damaging the audience during their battle while still allowing spectators an unobstructed view.
...
In Box 13...
The massive indoor screen displayed the combat platform where The Terminator of Regrets and Proud Dragon were now ready.
The battle commenced!
As an assassin, The Terminator of Regrets seized the initiative immediately, but Proud Dragon was not far behind. In his hands was a Shadow Repeating Crossbow, a level 40 Dark Gold Equipment with a very special attribute: Rapid Fire, allowing him to shoot two arrows in just 0.2 seconds.
Stealth!
Soon, The Terminator of Regrets completely vanished from sight on the battlefield. At that moment, Proud Dragon fired a particularly unique arrow from his Shadow Repeating Crossbow. A jet-black light shot forth with the arrow and instantly embedded itself in the ground ahead.
Then everyone watched as a thin layer of black light rapidly spread out from where the arrow landed, quickly forming a black domain with a radius of ten yards.
Quantum Force Arrow!
It is said that this was a very special skill that Proud Dragon had recently acquired. Its effect was to create a quantum force field; any target entering this field would cause fluctuations in balance, revealing their location.
Undeniably, this was an excellent skill for countering stealth!
However...
The Terminator of Regrets clearly knew that Proud Dragon had such a skill, and had anticipated that he would use it from the very beginning.
Ten seconds passed, yet there was no movement...
"Damn, how shameless." Proud Dragon suddenly froze, and while complaining, he quickly moved towards the quantum field he had set up.
It was evident that The Terminator of Regrets had left room for Proud Dragon to use this move from the start, knowing him well. The quantum field was indeed powerful, but it only covered a ten-yard radius; as long as one avoided it, everything would be fine.
Suddenly, a deafening sound tore through the air...
Proud Dragon couldn't help but frown as the Shadow Repeating Crossbow in his hand vanished, replaced by a chilling axe.
"Clang—"
A spark erupted from thin air as The Terminator of Regrets appeared, but his dagger was firmly blocked by Proud Dragon's axe. This first round of confrontation seemed unexciting at first glance, yet it highlighted both sides' meticulous control over their combat abilities.
"He actually blocked it?"
A surprised voice rose from the crowd... but it was merely a moment of astonishment, as everyone's attention was quickly diverted again.
Since this was a performance duel, there wouldn't be too much life-and-death struggle. Both sides began to unleash their special skills in a spectacular display, exchanging blows while showcasing their sharp movements and deep understanding of combat, making it quite enjoyable to watch.
"Heh heh— I must say, these two fellows have a talent for performance!" Li Tielong remarked.
This sentiment was immediately echoed by Yesterday's Fireworks, Hero Does Not Question Origin, and Not a Master. Even Far Apart joined in, pointing out that these two were clearly just putting on a show and jokingly asked if they were overdoing it.
Yi Tianchen and Liu Yuhan said nothing in response. To their own people, it indeed looked like acting, but that was only because they were too familiar with both of them. To the many other spectators present, it might not seem like acting at all; at least no such doubts were voiced among the audience at that moment.
...
Soon enough, their skill displays approached an end. If they repeated everything again, it would feel inappropriate. Amidst the deliberate exchanges, both sides began to incorporate some genuine combat moves, gradually revealing a gap significant enough to determine the outcome.
Proud Dragon ultimately could not match the assassin in speed, while The Terminator of Regrets fully exploited his speed advantage. A series of skills were intermittently unleashed, gradually pushing Proud Dragon closer to the edge of defeat as he lost ground bit by bit.
In the end, The Terminator of Regrets emerged victorious!
The Exhibition Match came to a close, and it was now time for players to take the stage freely. However, after witnessing the match, many players who clearly lacked the same level of skill chose not to step forward recklessly; after all, losing would be quite embarrassing.
Soon, another player, also an assassin by profession, entered the arena.
To everyone's surprise, this player had their face covered, revealing only a pair of calm eyes that appeared to belong to someone in their early twenties.
At the same time, the announcement system broadcasted the assassin's basic information—
ID: Shadow Kill, Level: 45, Profession: Mid-Level Assassin!
Due to confidentiality regarding player information, no further details were provided. After all, no one wanted to participate in a competitive match only to become an open book; otherwise, it was unlikely anyone would be willing to join such competitions.
"Ready, start..." Shadow Kill's voice rang out coldly.
The Terminator of Regrets, having defeated Proud Dragon, was the champion of this match and held the authority to initiate it. Upon hearing Shadow Kill's words, The Terminator of Regrets wasted no time; his thoughts immediately commanded a ten-second countdown to begin.
Not a Master paused for a moment: This guy seems familiar...
