The fourth member of Blood Night was a swordsman.
Clearly, being on the same team as the Blood Night Poison Dragon meant that their level and skills were not to be underestimated. The swordsman had initially intended to charge forward, but due to Liu Yuhan's area damage, he took a step forward only to retreat three steps, his face showing clear signs of frustration and regret.
"Damn it, that pesky priest!"
Chaos of Life gritted his teeth. The mage's hit rate was already mediocre, and with Li Tielong jumping around erratically, it was a struggle just to land a hit. When he finally managed to strike, he had to use a Vitality Technique to pull Mu Wanqing back, leaving him seething with inner turmoil.
At that moment, Lin Yan's dagger was already closing in. With rapid attacks, the Magic Shield clanged loudly, much like it had against the Blood Night Poison Dragon before. It quickly became riddled with cracks, and the final thrust shattered the Magic Shield completely, piercing into Chaos of Life's shoulder.
"Shit!"
Chaos of Life stared wide-eyed, nearly dropping his staff in panic. For a mage to be cornered by an assassin was already a dire situation; now that his Magic Shield was broken, he felt like a ripe target. If he didn’t run now, he might never get the chance again.
But escaping from an assassin relied on speed and stealth. With his frail body and slow speed, how could he possibly escape?
Meanwhile, Blood Night Poison Wolf rushed in swiftly with a clear intent: to disrupt Lin Yan's assault on Chaos of Life. However, he faced relentless pressure from both Li Tielong and Liu Yuhan. As for the remaining swordsman, Liu Yuhan occasionally shot a few arrows at him, effectively silencing any resistance.
It wasn't that the swordsman was incompetent; rather, Liu Yuhan's attacks were too fierce. She used only Normal Attacks against Blood Night Poison Wolf while unleashing powerful skills against the swordsman. Without a priest to heal him, the swordsman was left in agony.
Clearly, Liu Yuhan and her team were employing a strategy of isolation and targeted elimination—splitting their opponents apart so Lin Yan could pick off the easiest targets one by one. Once they surrounded them, even the strongest opponent would struggle against four attackers!
"Damn it!"
Realizing their intentions, Blood Night Poison Wolf felt a wave of helplessness wash over him. With a sudden burst of energy, he unleashed a flurry of attacks with his dagger that forced Li Tielong back. He then turned and sprinted away after taking a few arrows from Liu Yuhan before disappearing from sight.
"Damn it! That little bastard got away!"
Li Tielong ground his teeth in frustration. As Lin Yan successfully dealt with Chaos of Life, he charged forward and executed Charge just as the swordsman attempted to flee, stunning him in place. In that instant, Lin Yan’s dagger descended from behind.
Backstab Lv-2! -4010!
The poor Swordsman Player had not even made a move before being eliminated, his face filled with confusion as his body uncontrollably fell to the ground.
“Hahaha... this feels great!”
Li Tielong laughed heartily, glancing at the direction where Blood Night Poison Wolf had fled. He grumbled, “What a pity that Blood Night Poison Wolf got away. Damn it, this guy actually knows how to run! It’s embarrassing for him to be the second-in-command of Blood Night!”
Liu Yuhan and the others chuckled but said nothing.
Continuing onward, the four of them walked along a rugged path for about ten minutes. As they rounded a rocky outcrop, Liu Yuhan suddenly felt a jolt in her heart and pointed at a rock, saying, “Strange, why is there an NPC here?”
Everyone looked over and saw an old NPC standing in a hollow formed beneath a protruding rock. He was dressed extravagantly, wearing gold-rimmed glasses and holding a delicate cloth bag, his eyes gleaming with the cunning of a merchant.
“Could this be... the Merit Exchange NPC?” Li Tielong asked excitedly.
“It must be,” Mu Wanqing replied with a grin. “I can’t believe our luck! I bet we’re the first ones to find him. Let’s go check it out and see if there’s anything good. Who knows, we might be able to exchange for some embedded gems!”
“Wanqing is right!”
Liu Yuhan and the others quickly followed suit and soon stood before the NPC. After engaging in conversation and confirming that he was indeed the randomly spawned Merit Exchange NPC, they were filled with joy as a simple exchange interface appeared before each of them.
First were some basic items like outdoor repair scrolls and return scrolls. Next were Forging Gemstones; although they were of the lowest grade, they could be exchanged without limit as long as they had enough Faction Merit Points, priced at 100 merit points each.
Finally, there were some special items such as Seal Cards. The specific use was that when a monster's Vitality dropped below 10%, using a Seal Card would give a chance to seal that monster within it, creating a card that carried some of the monster's attributes. When used, it could enhance the character for a limited time.
However, the sealed monster's level could not exceed ten levels above the user's level, and its grade could not surpass elite level!
There was also a card called Redemption Card; using it would reduce 100 points of Evil Value—truly an essential item for killing and robbing in the wild.
Lastly, there were two embedded gems everyone had been eagerly anticipating: one suitable for embedding in clothing that would grant an additional 1000 Vitality to the user, and another suitable for embedding in weapons that would grant an additional 10 Strength.
However, what surprised Liu Yuhan and the others was that the exchange price for fixed unlimited items was uniformly set at 100 Faction Merit Points, while the exchange price for limited special items was only 10 Faction Merit Points, merely one-tenth of the unlimited items.
Upon reflection, it seemed quite understandable. The reason the fixed items had no quantity limit and could be exchanged in any amount was precisely why their required Faction Merit Points were higher; conversely, the limited items had a lower exchange cost since they needed to be refreshed randomly after being exchanged.
Soon, the Seal Card, Redemption Card, and two embedded gems were in Liu Yuhan's hands. Regardless of whether they could be useful at the moment, limited items were not something everyone could easily obtain, thus possessing a potential market value.
"Let's go!"
Having exchanged for the limited special items, they decided to temporarily give up on the other unlimited ones. Since fixed items had no quantity restrictions and the faction system had just opened, each of their Faction Merit Points was limited. It was evidently more valuable to save them for future needs.
After bidding farewell to the Merit Exchange NPC, Liu Yuhan and her three companions continued onward, winding through the complex terrain of Grave Mound Mountain. They encountered several battles along the way, and by the time they reached the central area of Grave Mound Mountain, it was already past five in the afternoon. The sun hung low in the sky, gently touching the mountain peaks.
"Wow, this Grave Mound Mountain is really huge!" Li Tielong couldn't help but exclaim.
"Yeah! It's a pity there are no monsters; we can only fight against players from opposing factions. We can't deal any damage to players from our own faction!" Lin Yan said, feeling somewhat speechless. After a moment's pause, he added, "Sister Yuhan, do you think there might be any hidden monsters in the PVP Area?"
