A familiar sound, a familiar aura of death. In an instant, Yi Tianchen's entire world collapsed as he saw yellow sand erupt three meters to his left. A massive Scorpion burst forth, its tail raised high, the tip of its venomous stinger glinting ominously in the sunlight.

The Scorpion's attack speed was incredibly fast; almost as soon as it emerged, its lethal tail already struck out. Yi Tianchen barely managed to roll aside in time, scrambling to his feet when another chilling rush of wind came at him from behind.

One damage number followed by three misses; this didn't mean that Yi Tianchen was particularly skilled at dodging the Scorpion's three strikes. Instead, it was because the first attack had already claimed his life, rendering the subsequent three attacks ineffective.
Once again... instant death.
Yi Tianchen was not too surprised. As the world around him faded to gray and white, a prompt appeared: "Would you like to resurrect at your current location?"
According to the specific settings of Zero Era, when a novice dies, they are directly transported back to their corresponding birthplace. For players who have changed classes, they are released as spirits at the nearest graveyard to their place of death, with two options available—return to town or resurrect at the current location.
However, Yi Tianchen's situation was quite special. Having detached himself from all factions, he did not release his spirit upon death and had no place to teleport. The only option that popped up was "Would you like to resurrect at your current location?" and it was the sole choice available.
What did this mean?
It meant that Yi Tianchen could resurrect infinitely, and specifically, he could resurrect at his current location without limit. Given that he was currently only level one, with zero experience and no equipment, he was just a fresh character. Even if he died a thousand or ten thousand times, it would amount to no loss at all.
With this realization, Yi Tianchen felt much bolder.
Although he was not a match for the Scorpion before him, his current task was not to defeat it but rather to escape from this desert guarded by the Scorpions by any means necessary. Dying here might actually be the best way for him to successfully escape the desert.
Before resurrecting, however, Yi Tianchen needed to do one more thing: observe the hiding spots of other Scorpions. Although he could resurrect infinitely, there was still a time limit. If he ran around aimlessly without a plan, he might miss his chance to escape before time ran out.
He took a closer look at the massive Scorpion in front of him. Yi Tianchen didn't even feel like identifying it; its level 80 stature was evident. The result of any identification would surely be a string of question marks that would leave him baffled—completely pointless.
Through careful observation, Yi Tianchen concluded on a safe zone: a ten-meter radius centered around the Scorpion. It seemed that each Scorpion had its own small territory where only one Scorpion could exist.
After estimating the distance, as the Scorpion turned its massive body, Yi Tianchen quickly chose to resurrect. Drawing the Scorpion's attention once more, he had already determined his direction and suddenly transformed into a phantom, dashing out like lightning.
Savage Charge Lv-2!
Fortunately, although he returned to level one, all the skill icons he had learned were still lit up. Other attack skills might not be very useful, but this Savage Charge had become Yi Tianchen's genuine escape tactic; if used properly, its effectiveness should not be underestimated.

Another MISS floated up. Yi Tianchen's rolling tactics were proving effective, and having prepared in advance, he successfully dodged while sprinting forward, rolling again, first to the left and then to the right, carving a clear Z shape in the yellow sand.

Before him lay a haze of gray and white as Yi Tianchen plopped down onto the yellow sand, gasping for breath. This was exhausting work. Not far away, the Scorpion emitted a piercing sound, swinging its massive pincers back and forth, its raised tail flicking menacingly.
After about ten seconds of rest, Yi Tianchen entered a state of readiness once more. Taking advantage of the Scorpion's turned back, he revived and continued his advance eastward, launching into a Savage Charge that propelled him out of the current Scorpion's territory and instantly into the territory of another Scorpion.
Dodging left and right, rolling forward and sideways... then it was an instant kill!
This was the death mode that Yi Tianchen had been experiencing and would continue to experience for a long time. Yet each time he managed to create at least a twenty-yard gap. If luck was on his side, he could evade the subsequent pursuits of the Scorpions three to five times or more, proving to be quite effective.

With each death, I drew closer to the edge of the desert by another twenty yards. This cycle continued until the thousandth death arrived, and it was already past six in the evening. The setting sun cast its slanted rays in the distance, bathing the endless rolling sands in a glaring golden hue.

Another Scorpion suddenly emerged, its massive body bursting forth like a spring, sending a torrent of yellow sand flying into the air. It was followed by its sharply arched tail striking out, unleashing a devastating area attack known as Thousand Needle Tail Sting, and finally, it executed a targeted Sand Shadow Strike.

In my thousand and first instant kill, Yi Tianchen gazed toward the east. His silhouette stretched long against the horizon, where clusters of tall trees began to appear, lush and vibrant—a scene brimming with life that symbolized hope for escaping the desert.
But what was the visibility like right now? It must be around ten kilometers, right? Looking back again, it seemed that the effects of the Exile Zone were still closer than this!
Yi Tianchen spat blood...
