Haunted Mansion
Yi Tianchen and Liu Yuhan were stunned! The deep, sorrowful voice came from the figure made of white smoke before them.
After a moment of exchanging glances, Yi Tianchen stepped forward and said solemnly, "You are Lufeng, the former lord of Southern Wilderness City?"
The surroundings quickly fell into silence, each person staring with curious and expectant eyes, holding their breath for what would happen next. The figure of white smoke seemed to be in shock as well, falling silent for a moment.
After a full thirty seconds of silence, the smoky figure spoke: "Young adventurer, your insight is indeed impressive. Yes, I am Lufeng!"
"It’s really true!" Behind them, Not a Master exclaimed in astonishment.
Yi Tianchen smiled slightly and continued, "Since that’s the case, let’s get straight to the point! A general who would rather relinquish his own coffin and willingly decay in a corner to obscure others' vision must have an astonishing secret that is unknown to others!"
Indeed, the mission prompt had already hinted at this so-called astonishing secret, but before it was fully revealed, Yi Tianchen still needed to pretend not to know so that this figure could elaborate on everything in more detail.
"Perhaps! However... I cannot tell you anything because... I alone cannot keep this secret safe. The best way to keep a secret is simply not to know it!"
"Uh..."
Yi Tianchen was left speechless, feeling a hint of unease in his heart. This development seemed far beyond his previous expectations. Yet the figure's words made sense; the best way to keep a secret is indeed not to know it... or...
To die!
Clearly, this General Lufeng had chosen both options.
But what kind of secret would make a city lord willing to guard it with his life? Moreover, from his words, it was evident that he did know some insider information about this so-called astonishing secret, but only part of it.
Liu Yuhan stepped forward and softly asked, "Do you need us to do something?"
After a brief pause, General Lufeng pondered and said, "It has been a thousand years. Your arrival today signifies the intertwining of fate. Indeed, this great mission will fall upon your shoulders!"
At the same time---
System prompt: Mission [Awakening] activated. Do you accept?
The sudden prompt immediately shocked everyone. Just the name of the mission was enough to leave them utterly astounded!
Awakening?
Looking around, everyone wore a determined expression. As the captain, Yi Tianchen clicked confirm without hesitation, prompting the next step---
System Notification: Your team has successfully accepted the mission [Awakening]. The current mission difficulty is unknown; you have received the item [Elemental Fragment of Wood Fragment] ×1!
"Clatter!"
Yi Tianchen was taken aback. Opening the package, a diamond-shaped golden Crystal came into view---
[Elemental Fragment of Wood Fragment]: A mysterious Crystal that seems to possess some powerful magical energy. It is one of the essential elements needed to activate the Five Elements Soul Sealing Array. Mission item, cannot be used!
Just as Yi Tianchen and the others were trying to make sense of it, General Lufeng spoke again: "The ancient Five Elements Soul Sealing Array gathers the power of the five elements and can seal human souls within it. The Elemental Fragment of Wood Fragment in your hands is one of the elements needed to activate the Five Elements Soul Sealing Array!"
Yi Tianchen exclaimed in shock, "You mean... we need to activate that Five Elements Soul Sealing Array? And before that, we must collect the other four elemental fragments besides the Elemental Fragment of Wood Fragment!"
"That's right. To preserve this secret, the five pieces of Elemental Fragment were placed in five different locations. Now, a thousand years later, you must gather all five fragments again to activate the Five Elements Soul Sealing Array and set the Wheel of Fate in motion. This is your destiny and your mission!"
Yi Tianchen couldn't help but twitch his mouth; this was undoubtedly another incredibly difficult task!
Eagerly pulling up the mission tab, he was left speechless by the specific details---

…
In that moment, everyone was taken aback! The secret passed down by the Five Generals was undoubtedly significant; could it be a plot for rebellion?
Yi Tianchen forced a smile.
Setting that aside for now, Yi Tianchen continued to gather information. However, as General Lufeng had mentioned earlier, he truly couldn't provide them with any answers. After a round of inquiries, it turned out that everything still needed to be sought and verified by Yi Tianchen and his companions.
After concluding this segment of questioning, their journey to the Haunted Mansion came to a complete end. They cautiously exited the Haunted Mansion and immediately entered the dense forest.
It was now midnight, and the entire mountain forest was eerily silent. Nevertheless, with their larger group, even though occasional chilling cries echoed through the night, it did not affect them in the slightest.
Following the same path back through the thick bushes and thorns, Yi Tianchen and his companions successfully found the carriage hidden behind the bushes. They boarded the carriage, set their route, and once they exited the forest, the carriage sped along the road, returning to Maple Village at precisely 12:41 AM.
As soon as they disembarked from the carriage, the revived Hero Does Not Question Origin, Stinky Fish, and Lin Yan approached them, inquiring about the details of their mission. However, apart from a large amount of text and a single Elemental Fragment known as Wood Fragment, Yi Tianchen and his group had little else to share.
The remaining time was spent distributing equipment and gold coins. After some negotiations, Blood Prison's Guardian ultimately belonged to Yi Tianchen. He didn’t say much; although it was a piece of Golden Equipment at level 40, there was still a significant level gap. By the time they reached level 40, it might very well be obsolete.
Once they finished distributing their spoils, everyone began to feel exhausted, especially Liu Yuhan and her friends. After some discussion, they collectively decided to log off at the inn in Maple Village.
