The night was deep, and the moonlight was hazy; the mountain breeze was gentle, and the leaves rustled softly.
In the tranquil forest, a sudden flash of white light appeared, revealing a Mage Player rising from the ground, roaring, "Damn it! How dare you kill me... I'll make you pay for this!"
"Boss..." a Swordsman Player approached, reporting, "A few more of our brothers have been taken out. It's Falling Leaves, the number one on the Level leaderboard. Should we continue?"
"Of course we continue..." The Mage glared, shouting, "I don't care if he's number one on the leaderboard; if he annoys me, even the king of heaven has to die!"
"Understood!" The Swordsman turned and left.
"Damn it! I refuse to believe that so many people can't deal with just two!" The Mage muttered darkly to himself, gritting his teeth.
"The number one on the Level leaderboard, Falling Leaves, won't be easy to handle..." Suddenly, an Assassin Player stepped out from the shadows, his gaze calm yet filled with a chilling intensity. He continued emotionlessly, "As for the other person... although I don't know their exact identity yet, they likely aren't a pushover either."
The Mage paused in surprise. "What? Have you discovered something?"
"I just set a bait to test them, but they didn't react at all. It's as if they saw through my plan long ago. What does that imply?" The Assassin toyed with a dull dagger, a mysterious smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
"What does it imply..." The Mage hesitated before realizing, "Doesn't that mean all our actions are already under their surveillance? But... how is that possible? Could there be spies in our team?"
"There are no spies, but..." The Assassin paused slightly, his cold gaze sweeping over the towering trees before turning back. "It's not impossible for them to have a clear understanding of our personnel movements."
"What do you mean by that?" The Mage was confused and bit his lip. "Come on, stop being cryptic! Just say it directly. Besides, you're going to be the Vice President of Blood Night Guild; you should help me out here!"
The Assassin smiled faintly. "It's Bird's Nest."
"Bird... Bird's Nest..." The Mage was taken aback, his mind flooded with questions as he scratched his head in confusion. "What the hell is this Bird's Nest? You need to explain it clearly!"
"In sniping terms, we refer to a high point from which we can control everything within the sniper's range as Bird's Nest. A sniper can confirm the target's location and execute a kill from there!" The Assassin spoke slowly, his tone still devoid of emotion as if he were speaking from inside a refrigerator.
The Mage paused for a moment, but quickly came around, furrowing his brow as he said, "Are you saying that they are currently occupying such a position, overseeing all the changes in the battlefield? If we want to take down Falling Leaves, we must first eliminate this Bird's Nest?"
"In theory, that's how it is!" the Assassin replied nonchalantly.
"What do you mean by 'in theory'? Are you saying we can't take down the Bird's Nest?" The Mage shouted in frustration, his gaze suddenly darkening as he gritted his teeth. "What you just referred to as the Bird's Nest is the high ground within the entire sniping range?"
"Exactly!"
The Mage chuckled darkly. "So you're saying this Bird's Nest is currently located in one of the trees in this forest?"
"Correct!"
The Mage was taken aback, his thoughts briefly aligning before becoming chaotic again. He looked at the dense forest before him and slammed his fist against a tree trunk, unwillingly saying, "So we have no way of knowing exactly which tree their Bird's Nest is in?"
"That's right!"
"Damn it! Can you use a different term?" The Mage shot a speechless glare at the Assassin and paced back and forth for nearly half a minute. Suddenly, he slapped his thigh and grinned. "You must have a way to find out where their Bird's Nest is located, right?"
"One word..." A flicker of heat ignited in the Assassin's calm eyes as he gazed into the depths of the forest. "The Bird's Nest can accurately locate targets, but through reverse reasoning, we can also deduce the location of the Bird's Nest based on the target's movements."
"Damn! Is that even just one word?"
※※※
At nine twenty-seven in the evening.
Under the night sky, a sound like tearing air whistled through as a massive heavy sword emanated a thick white glow. With an unstoppable force, it pierced through a player and pinned them against a large tree, the sword vibrating with a low hum.
Rushing forward at breakneck speed, Yi Tianchen harnessed the power of Savage Charge to swiftly pull out the Wrath of the Wilderness. With a few quick strides, he darted back into the Bush, embodying the grandiose spirit of “swinging his sleeves without leaving a single survivor.”
Yet, in this moment, his emotions were undeniably exhilarated!
Gently stroking his heaving chest, Yi Tianchen immediately summoned the information panel. Just as he had experienced with his first throw of the Wrath of the Wilderness, a tantalizing message flashed vividly before his eyes—
System Notification: You have successfully triggered a self-created skill effect; current skill creation completion is 33%!
“Awesome!”
Yi Tianchen shouted internally. He never expected that this seemingly ordinary throwing sword technique would coincidentally activate the self-creation effect of a skill. Regardless of whether it would ultimately succeed, the process itself was bound to be incredibly enticing.
“Tianchen, be careful; someone is approaching you from the four o'clock direction, about fifty meters away. There are quite a few targets; stay hidden!” Liu Yuhan's calm voice echoed through the team channel.
“I got it!”
Yi Tianchen replied, raising his hand to adjust the Vine Ring atop his head. This was his life-saving item; otherwise, with that glaring red dual-sword emblem on display, he would stand out like a bright red lantern in this Night, illuminating wherever he went.
“Attention, the targets have split up! Three o'clock position, five o'clock position, eight o'clock position…”
“Understood!”
Yi Tianchen smiled slightly, gripping the Wrath of the Wilderness even tighter. He moved his feet, cautiously edging closer, and soon heard a faint rustling sound ahead. Peering through the branches that obscured his view, he spotted a Swordsman Player stealthily probing around with an iron sword.
“Seventh one!”
Yi Tianchen thought to himself as he activated Savage Charge and surged forward at five times the Speed. With a swift motion of his hand, he struck down upon the Swordsman Player.
"Uh..."
The Swordsman Player was startled, immediately entering a defensive stance. He jumped back while raising his sword to block. However, he sensed a figure flicker before him, appearing at his side. A sharp sound of slicing air filled the space as a cold gleam of a blade swept across his abdomen.
"Not bad with the reflexes!"
Yi Tianchen said coldly, throwing out Unfolding and then, just before the swordsman could unleash Combat Restraint, he cast Necromantic Binding. In that brief moment, the script of life and death had been completely rewritten.
"Slash..."
Blade Break Slash Lv-1!
With immense power, he effortlessly took down another player. Yi Tianchen did not pause for a moment, even ignoring the fallen Silver Coin, and immediately dove into a nearby Bush. Just moments later, hurried footsteps echoed not far away.
To his surprise, this time the opponents did not pursue Yi Tianchen; instead, they altered their course and moved forward several meters.
There’s something fishy! There must be something going on!!
After confirming the enemy's position through Liu Yuhan, Yi Tianchen quickly launched another attack, successfully slaying three more players. Yet he still received no active response from them, which only fueled the strange thought that they were intentionally acting this way.
Meanwhile, Liu Yuhan's surprised voice rang out: "Tianchen, there are a lot of targets appearing at twelve o'clock. They... wait, they seem to be coming for me?"
"What?"
Yi Tianchen froze for a moment as an ominous thought crossed his mind. He couldn't help but slap his thigh and cursed loudly, "Damn it! We've fallen into their trap! Quick, retreat! Liu Yuhan, they already know your position; we need to move fast!"
"Moving to a different location?" Liu Yuhan was taken aback as well but quickly began her withdrawal.
She was able to devise a method to occupy the high ground and monitor the opponent's movements, and naturally, she understood that by moving simultaneously through several different points, she could outline the field of vision for observing these moving points. Based on the intersection of the different visual routes of these moving points, she could achieve reverse positioning.
"Exactly, the opponent is clearly a master as well!" Yi Tianchen responded, quickly approaching Liu Yuhan's location.
Soon, a dense rustling sound echoed from ahead as eleven players rushed through the bushes, each wielding their weapons as if they were racing against time.
"Damn it!" Yi Tianchen cursed.
As a result, the eleven players quickly spotted Yi Tianchen, who was wearing the Vine Ring. One of them shouted and jumped out, yelling, "He's over there! The boss has ordered us to take him down; if we don't, we're all done for! Charge!"
Yi Tianchen smiled slightly.
His deliberate exposure was meant to buy Liu Yuhan some time to escape. Seeing that the opponent had taken the bait, he immediately turned and sprinted away while confirming the retreat direction with Liu Yuhan through the team channel. He also replaced his Wilderness Fury with the Dark Blade from his pack.
"Swish..."
Another sword cut through the air as the Dark Blade gathered immense momentum, enveloped in a layer of misty white light. It shot forward, piercing through one player at the front and knocking down three or four others behind him, causing quite a commotion.
After all, Dark Iron Equipment weapons were still quite eye-catching at this stage. Although Yi Tianchen's strike could inflict significant damage, it came at the cost of sacrificing his weapon!
