Yi Tianchen was momentarily taken aback, then couldn't help but burst into laughter. Such a leader-level monster indeed offered generous rewards!
In Zero Era, the experience required for players to level up before reaching level 10 was not much. However, as a novice below level 10, players lacked any skills and had extremely scarce equipment, making monster hunting quite challenging.
After all, not every player could operate like Yi Tianchen; most would struggle for half a day just to barely gain a level.
Thus, the System had specifically established protective measures for novice players below level 10. When an unclassed player died, they would not lose a level; only other items, such as equipment and money, would still drop as usual.
Moreover, before officially classing up, players wouldn't be marked as red names for killing others. Take Yi Tianchen for example; he had killed five players in total but remained unaffected.
However, once players officially classed up, killing others would result in being marked as a red name, and they would be captured by NPCs upon entering towns. If caught, they would face imprisonment, with the duration depending on the severity of their crimes.
It was rumored that one could reduce their sentence through "labor" while in prison, but the specifics were unknown.

Standing in place after slaying the formidable Enhanced Cunning Serpent with a single strike, Yi Tianchen felt utterly exhausted. He let out a long breath and plopped down onto the ground, his gaze already searching beneath the corpse of the Enhanced Cunning Serpent.
Soon enough, Yi Tianchen's eyes lit up with surprise as he discovered a weapon. Its crescent shape was aesthetically pleasing and streamlined, made of a dark blue-black material that was difficult to identify.
In an instant, Yi Tianchen found himself unable to contain his excitement. He rushed forward to pick up the weapon and couldn't help but shout in joy!
"Haha! It's actually a dagger!" Yi Tianchen exclaimed as he examined the dagger in his hand, his delight evident. Although this was a specialized weapon for assassins, there was no distinction in weapon usage before obtaining weapon specialization skills upon classing up.
After weighing the dagger lightly for a moment, Yi Tianchen lovingly tossed it into his inventory. In Zero Era, all attribute-based equipment had to be identified before it could be used.
This was yet another way for the System to rake in players' money. Though he despised it, there was nothing he could do!
Immediately after, Yi Tianchen began searching again and quickly dug out five Silver Coins from the bushes. With the loot from monsters and players he had killed, Yi Tianchen's assets had now reached a total of nine Silver Coins, making him quite wealthy in this context.
Afterward, Yi Tianchen eagerly turned over the corpse of the Enhanced Cunning Serpent and suddenly noticed something gray scattered in the grass.
"Eh..."
Yi Tianchen paused, intrigued. He picked it up and was surprised to find that it was a Snake Gallbladder!
"This... this thing can drop too?" Yi Tianchen was astonished. Soon enough, Yi Tianchen could see a group of no less than twenty people rushing over, led by Zeng Jian, the President of King's Guild. Following closely were King’s Eternal, the guild's top assassin, along with several players whom Yi Tianchen had just eliminated.
Yi Tianchen couldn't help but take a sharp breath; he hadn't expected to end up in the same novice village as Zeng Jian. Moreover, all these people bore the emblem of King's Studio on their arms. The ability to gather over twenty people in such a novice village demonstrated the immense power of King's Studio.
Fortunately, Yi Tianchen had noticed them in time and chose to conceal himself immediately. Otherwise, if they encountered him, despite his decent skills, his lack of equipment would make it difficult to face so many opponents at once. Death was one thing; losing the dagger he had just obtained would be a significant loss.
After quietly watching the group pass by, Yi Tianchen quickly emerged and accelerated toward the novice village. After about ten minutes, he stood at the entrance of the novice village. Taking a deep breath and wiping the sweat from his forehead, he dashed inside.
Once in the village, Yi Tianchen opened his map to confirm his location and headed straight for the Identification Center. Upon entering, he unexpectedly found another player at the counter identifying equipment.
It was clear that this was a guy with both strength and luck.
Upon noticing the sudden intrusion of Yi Tianchen, the player immediately became alert. This was a world where the weak were preyed upon by the strong, and the restrictions on PK in Zero Era were not very strict. Even if you were in a village or a city, you could still fall victim to malicious attacks from others.
In principle, there were only two types of true Restricted Areas in Zero Era. The first was rooms, such as various houses provided by the System or houses rented or purchased by players; the second was market areas!

In fact, Yi Tianchen really wanted to turn around and take a look. Was that so-called appraisal process really like what was described in online games—where with a wave of the hand and a flash of white light, treasures covered in dust would shine with their former glory?
As he pondered this, he heard an astonished and extremely reluctant voice from behind: "Green... it's actually green... this..."
In Zero Era, Bronze items emitted a green glow. What puzzled Yi Tianchen was why this player didn't directly refer to it as a Bronze item but instead seemed conflicted about calling it green?
Thinking of this, Yi Tianchen finally couldn't hold back and turned his head to take a glance.

However, Yi Tianchen's worries were soon proven unnecessary. The player walked out without incident. In fact, everyone was busy leveling up and fighting monsters at that moment; who had the leisure to stand guard at the Identification Center's entrance to rob someone? Besides, those who could drop good equipment were likely not ordinary players; attempting to rob them might just lead to being robbed in return!
"Fortunately, mine is a dagger; the color doesn't matter!" Yi Tianchen smiled lightly and decided not to hesitate any longer. He approached the counter directly. The appraiser was an elderly man in his sixties with messy gray hair and wearing a pair of reading glasses that made him look quite experienced.
Yi Tianchen took out his dagger from his bag and placed it on the counter, politely saying, "Could you please identify this dagger for me?"
The appraiser lifted his glasses slightly and replied, "Hmm, the identification fee is 10 Silver Coins!"
