The next day, Yi Tianchen woke up early, feeling that his injuries had healed significantly. He was no longer sleepy and even felt a bit excited. On the small wooden table, the Zero Era game helmet seemed to act like a powerful magnet, drawing his gaze for a long time.
"Zero Era..." Yi Tianchen's lips curled slightly, and a sense of solemnity appeared in his eyes as he stared at the game helmet for a while. He self-mockingly said, "Waking up just in time! Otherwise, I might have missed this grand event."

In Zero Era, players could create characters during the first thirty minutes after starting.
As he picked up the game helmet, Yi Tianchen sadly realized that due to the thick bandages on his head, he couldn't put it on. With a wry smile, he hurriedly removed a few layers of gauze in front of the mirror. Finally managing to wear the helmet, he let out a sigh of relief.
He then connected it to the power source and activated the wireless signal receiver. Pressing down gently on the power button, darkness enveloped him instantly. Soon after, a pleasant female voice synthesized by a computer echoed through the deep void—
"Young adventurer, welcome to the magical world of Zero Era!"
In Zero Era, players were uniformly referred to as adventurers by the system. Whether they were young, beautiful, handsome, or old and worn out depended on individual circumstances. For Yi Tianchen, being called "young" clearly matched his actual identity.
After the voice prompt, a light point suddenly appeared in the darkness. Then came a second and third... Before long, countless light points emerged like stars in a summer night sky, densely filling this mysterious space and gradually expanding until they formed vivid images.
Mountains, rivers, forests, grasslands, high peaks, flowing water, lakes, wastelands, deserts, swamps, gorges, villages, cities, snowy plains...
All these images moved slowly along predetermined paths and eventually connected seamlessly to form a grand and profound tapestry. In an instant before Yi Tianchen's eyes lay an ancient and weathered continent.
Without the turmoil of war, without the sounds of neighing horses on the battlefield, there were only the crumbling remnants of walls, desolate villages and towns, and the horrifying sight of mountains of corpses and seas of blood. The sky was overcast, and vultures circled above, emitting a series of hoarse and low cries.
Undeniably, compared to the brutal slaughter five years ago, this silent scene was even more shocking!
Suddenly, a flash of light passed by, and when the vision returned, Yi Tianchen was astonished to find himself standing in an ancient temple.
At the same time, a notification sounded in his ear—
"Congratulations on completing character creation. As this is your first use of the game terminal, the System will automatically collect your blood sample to complete identity registration and save it. Please wait..."
In a daze, Yi Tianchen felt a slight pain at the back of his neck, as if he had been bitten by a mosquito. Realizing this was the System's way of collecting his blood sample, he didn't pay much attention to it but instead began to carefully examine the ancient temple filled with mystery and oppressive energy.
The entire hall was constructed from massive stone blocks that were dark black in color, giving off a sense of age and wear. On either side stood six round stone pillars, topped with flickering eerie blue flames. In front loomed a gigantic stone door that stood five meters tall; each stone ring likely weighed around a hundred pounds. Engraved on the door were three grand characters—Zero Era!
Soon, the System's notification chimed again—
"Blood sample saved successfully. Basic character data has been bound to the terminal. Character generation successful. Please enter your character nickname!"
"Falling Leaves!"
Yi Tianchen smiled slightly and quickly spoke his new ID. Compared to his previous ID, Lutian Shafa, Falling Leaves was much more understated and elegant, imbued with an endless sense of melancholy and sorrowful resonance, as if one could never fully savor its essence.
It was indeed perfect.
"The nickname is available. Character naming successful. Please choose your character's game perception level!"
Game perception level refers to how well players can perceive attacks in the virtual game as well as their sense of smell and other aspects. The System's default value is 5%, with a maximum limit of 30%. In such a highly immersive holographic online game, perception should not be set too high, but having none at all would also be unwise.
"10%!"
Yi Tianchen pondered for a moment before quickly making his choice, the prompt ringing in his ears once more.
"Character game perception settings completed. Please select a character class!"
"Swordsman!" Yi Tianchen smiled slightly, almost immediately giving his definitive answer as soon as the prompt finished. This was the best way to inherit the immortal legend of the former "God of War."
"Character class selection successful. Please set the character's initial attributes!"
In Zero Era, every character started at Level 0 with 20 initial attribute points. Players could freely allocate these 20 points, but each attribute must be no less than 3 points. Considering the four basic attributes of each character, the actual points available for free distribution were only 8.
After a brief contemplation, Yi Tianchen already had an answer in mind. Since he was going for a melee route, defense, attack, and Vitality were essential. Moreover, in the early stages of the game, only strong attacks could secure an advantage and allow him to stay ahead of others.
"4 Constitution, 10 Strength, 3 Intelligence, 3 Agility!" Yi Tianchen declared with determination.
"Initial attribute allocation successful. Character creation complete. Data has been entered into the System database and is being saved... Please wait..."
A moment later...
"All character data saved successfully. Character officially generated. You can now enter the game... There are 4 minutes and 39 seconds remaining until the official start of the game... Please be patient..."
"Four more minutes!" Yi Tianchen murmured to himself, his eyes burning with fervor.
Time ticked away steadily; four minutes felt neither long nor short. Especially in this current Status, it made one wonder if time had suddenly slowed down.
"Dear player Falling Leaves, hello! According to incomplete statistics, there is one minute left until Zero Era officially begins. Please prepare to enter the game..."
"30 seconds remaining..."
"20 seconds... 10 seconds... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1..."
"Dear Player Falling Leaves, hello. The game Zero Era has officially launched. Would you like to enter now?"
"Yes!"
Yi Tianchen felt a shiver run down his spine. Was it finally starting?
With a thought, he issued the command, and the enormous stone door before him slowly creaked open with a magical metallic sound, spilling forth a bright, silvery light. Stepping forward, as he crossed the threshold of the door, Yi Tianchen felt as if he had entered a time-space tunnel, his entire being pulled by an extraordinary force into a completely unknown realm.
A prompt suddenly echoed in his ears---
System Notification: Congratulations Player [Falling Leaves] on successfully logging into the game. You have been randomly assigned to Newbie Village No. 00528. Your newbie gift pack has been automatically activated, granting you [Rusty Iron Sword] ×1. All staff at Zero Era wish you an enjoyable gaming experience!
