If someone were to ask Ye Huan what the king of the Southern Xiongnu Empire was doing, he would certainly reply that he came to rescue his family. However, it seemed that things were not as straightforward as they appeared.
‘Where did this Old Monster come from?’
Cursing the old Taoist who blocked the inn's door in his heart, Ye Huan could only pray that this old fellow was not here to cause trouble for them. But was there anyone else in this inn besides Ye Huan and his companions? Absolutely not!
“What do you want?” Perhaps unable to bear the pressure brought by the old man, a Ninth Level Warrior from the Eastern Family spoke up. But in the next moment, a flash of red light appeared, and the Crimson Beauty Sword flew from in front of the old Taoist to behind the Ninth Level Warrior. His head was severed and floated in mid-air, while his body fell heavily to the ground, blood gushing out, no longer able to resist that overwhelming pressure.
“Wow, that was fast…”
Another Ninth Level Warrior stammered in disbelief, his eyes wide open. Before he could finish his sentence, his head also joined the others in mid-air. Even in his final moments, his eyes bulged in shock.
Sweat dripped down as Ye Huan realized with certainty that this old man was clearly here to kill them. The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. Ye Huan truly wished he could summon a Type 99 Main Battle Tank to see if it could withstand the attack of that Crimson Beauty Sword; otherwise, death was inevitable!
Just as he was about to make a move, swish swish swish…
One head after another appeared in mid-air, one even landing right in front of Ye Huan—it was Eastern Invincible!
A peak Ninth Level Warrior, a fourth-level Ninth Level Warrior, and twenty Eighth-Level Warriors—all wiped out in an instant. Staring at the obvious scar on Eastern Invincible's eye corner, Ye Huan immediately discarded any previous thoughts about summoning a Type 99 Main Battle Tank. Summoning it just for the old man to play with?
As if ignoring the corpses scattered around him, the old Taoist stretched out his hand, and the Crimson Beauty Sword quickly returned to him. He then addressed Ye Huan and Zhang Ren directly: “You two, come with me!”
Before he finished speaking, the old man turned and walked outside without a hint of concern that Ye Huan and Zhang Ren would not follow.
Exchanging glances with each other, just as the old man had said, whether they wanted to or not, Ye Huan and Zhang Ren had no choice but to go! Thus, after a brief hesitation, they quickly followed him out of the inn. It was truly unfortunate for those experts from the Eastern Family; they arrived at the royal capital only to be killed without even having a chance to fight back.
Following closely behind the old Taoist through numerous streets and alleys, they eventually arrived at an imposing building entrance. Ye Huan couldn't help but widen his eyes.
‘The palace? Why are we being brought here? What is this old man's identity?’
Countless thoughts flashed through his mind as Ye Huan witnessed something else astonishing: upon passing through the palace's main gate, neither patrolling soldiers nor those responsible for guarding the entrance stopped or even questioned the old Taoist!
Gradually, Ye Huan and Zhang Ren were led to where Heavenly Prison was located. The old man found a relatively bright room and locked them inside without uttering a word before floating away. This left both Ye Huan and Zhang Ren utterly confused about what this old Taoist intended to do.
After a while, Zhang Ren finally spoke up, "Damn, that old guy has finally left."
"Left?"
Hearing Zhang Ren's words, Ye Huan asked in surprise. He wasn't sure if sensing someone's level required some special method. While he could manage to feel the concentration of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy at a short distance, he was completely incapable of doing so from afar.
"Yeah, he's gone. At least a thousand meters away from us, maybe even further. Otherwise, I would definitely still be able to sense the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy he emits," Zhang Ren confirmed.
Upon learning that the old man had left, Ye Huan sat down on the ground, his mind still replaying the moment when the old Taoist had instantly defeated twenty-five high-level martial artists. A cold sweat broke out as he turned to Zhang Ren and asked, "Zhang Ren, are there any sword immortals in your continent?"
"Sword immortal? No, but I've heard a bit about Cultivators," Zhang Ren replied after furrowing his brow in thought.
Ye Huan was taken aback, nearly jumping three feet in surprise. He almost grabbed Zhang Ren to ask what was going on. Wasn't there only three professions in the Nine Provinces Continent? When did Cultivators come into play?
Seeing the expression on Ye Huan's face, Zhang Ren figured that Ye Huan would be very interested in the topic of Cultivators and said, "A lot of people don't know this. I heard it from my uncle. It's said that at the eastern edge of the Nine Provinces Continent, there is another land where there are no Professionals—only Cultivators..."
Two continents?
Furrowing his brows, Ye Huan suddenly recalled a book he had read before that clearly stated there was only one continent in this world—the Nine Provinces!
With this thought in mind, Ye Huan couldn't help but ask Zhang Ren, "But wait! The book I read mentioned that there is only one continent—the Nine Provinces. How reliable is your information?"
"Books? Those are just for ordinary people taught by private school teachers! Not to mention, have you ever seen a book that mentions Professionals?" Zhang Ren scoffed dismissively; it seemed he held a low opinion of written records.
Thinking back carefully, aside from some notes on Professional insights, Ye Huan realized he hadn't heard of any book that documented Professionals. It seemed that what Zhang Ren said might indeed be true.
However, if there really were Cultivators in this world, what use would the 2012 Arms Compendium have?
For the first time, Ye Huan felt utterly disheartened. According to his understanding, Cultivators could fly through the skies; how could they possibly fear airplanes or tanks?
The more he thought about it, the worse he felt. His expression darkened considerably, which did not escape Zhang Ren's notice. Pondering whether he should say something to lighten the mood, an idea struck him. He pulled out the Palace Terrain Map that he had been entrusted with and tossed it directly in front of Ye Huan.
"Palace Terrain Map?" Noticing the item thrown before him by Zhang Ren, Ye Huan suddenly remembered that his mother Liu Ruyan and younger brother Ye Le were still trapped in the palace!
Ye Huan grasped the Palace Terrain Map tightly and stood up, pushing aside thoughts of the Cultivator as he carefully studied the map.
It was impressive; the first family of the Southern Xiongnu Empire had indeed created a detailed map. Not only did it outline the general terrain, but it also labeled every single cell within the Heavenly Prison.
After counting, Ye Huan realized there were a total of one hundred and eight cells. Even if he searched one by one, he couldn't imagine how long it would take to find what he was looking for. This left him feeling troubled, unsure of what to do next.
There is a saying that sometimes the simplest methods are the most effective. Resolutely, Ye Huan turned to Zhang Ren and asked, "Zhang Ren, are you sure that old Daoist has gone far?"
It wasn't that Ye Huan didn't trust Zhang Ren; he just felt that since the old Daoist was a Cultivator, he must have some way to conceal his presence. After all, that's how novels from the Twenty-First Century often portrayed such characters.
Zhang Ren nodded and tried to sense again. The result was the same as before; the old Daoist had indeed moved away.
Satisfied, Ye Huan smiled and waved his hand, causing the 2012 Arms Compendium to float in mid-air. This startled Zhang Ren, who quickly grabbed Ye Huan's arm and asked, "Ye Huan, what are you planning to do?"
"I'm going to summon a Type 99 Main Battle Tank and flatten this place!" Ye Huan said with a grin.
Zhang Ren looked at him speechlessly. He felt that such reckless action was unwise and urged Ye Huan again, "Ye Huan, since that old Daoist brought us back, I don't think he intends to take our lives. Isn't this a bit too rash?"
Rash? If they waited for the old Daoist to return, whatever he said would likely be something Ye Huan had to agree to. Rather than being a pawn in someone else's game, it was better to carve out their own path. After Zhang Ren's persuasion, Ye Huan finally made up his mind. He pressed down on the 2012 Arms Compendium, and immediately vast amounts of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy surged forth from the book, enveloping both him and Zhang Ren.
It must be said that there were likely many high-level Professionals stationed within the Heavenly Prison. After Ye Huan summoned the Type 99 Main Battle Tank, chaos erupted outside as people rushed toward their location.
Ye Huan paid no mind to this commotion. He casually adjusted the turret of the Type 99 Main Battle Tank and fired at a wall, causing it to collapse.
With the wall down, there was no time to activate the tank properly. Ye Huan grabbed a shell and loaded it into the cannon while saying to Zhang Ren, "Zhang Ren, go start up the tank for me."
"What? Why is it me again? I can't do this!" Zhang Ren exclaimed with wide eyes. He remembered how Ye Huan had previously asked him to try driving a tank at Han's place but had never managed to get it started then. Why was Ye Huan asking him again now?
Rolling his eyes, Ye Huan realized that Zhang Ren was not as adventurous as Weiyang. At least Weiyang was someone who loved getting into trouble; he would eagerly try out anything curious and picked things up quickly—far better than Zhang Ren.
Perhaps sensing Ye Huan's disdainful look, Zhang Ren begrudgingly climbed into the driver's seat of the tank while muttering, "This is your idea; if anything goes wrong, don't blame me."
As soon as he finished speaking, he began pressing buttons randomly on the control panel. To his surprise, he managed to start up the tank. With a roar of engines, the Type 99 Main Battle Tank surged forward, crashing through every iron door of each cell in Heavenly Prison and bursting out of one of them.
Zhang Ren, controlling the tank, pulled hard on the control lever and crashed through the iron bars of a cell doorway, killing everyone inside instantly.
Seeing this scene, Ye Huan was taken aback. He had come to rescue Liu Ruyan and the others; if Zhang Ren killed someone, Ye Huan would be devastated.
Feeling frustrated, he approached Zhang Ren and asked him to get down from the tank. Ye Huan then sat in the driver's seat and said to Zhang Ren, "Zhang Ren, can you check what’s happening outside?"
Knowing how to use the sight, Zhang Ren didn’t hesitate. However, when he looked outside, he was shocked to see that many Professionals had already breached the prison cells. At the entrance of Heavenly Prison, shields were forming a wall, making it extremely difficult to break out.
But upon seeing so many Professionals and soldiers, Zhang Ren had an idea. He said to Ye Huan, "How about I drive the tank out of the cell while you search slowly inside Heavenly Prison?"
‘That’s a pretty good idea.’
Nodding in agreement, Ye Huan summoned an M60 machine gun along with a large number of flashbangs and M67 fragmentation grenades. He opened the tank hatch and jumped out, quickly running back to his previous cell. He summoned an M4A1 assault rifle and a Modification Toolbox, installing a grenade launcher and a red dot sight onto the M4A1. He was worried that a high-level warrior might appear unexpectedly, which could put him at a serious disadvantage.
After assembling his weapon, he cautiously glanced at the entrance of Heavenly Prison. Ye Huan hurried to another nearby cell and peered inside. Realizing it wasn’t Liu Ruyan and her group, he was about to leave when he suddenly stopped. He summoned a Desert Eagle and fired at the door of the cell before kicking it open. He called out to the person inside, "You’re free..."
The person locked inside was also a notorious criminal with strength comparable to a Seventh Level Warrior. However, upon hearing Ye Huan's words, he momentarily froze before reacting and bolted outside without looking back.
Cursing under his breath at the fool for not understanding that releasing more people from Heavenly Prison would increase their strength, Ye Huan continued his efforts on the next cell. No matter who was inside, he would release them first…
With hundreds of cells and hundreds of Professionals inside, what kind of outcome would there be if they were all set free?
