Although I had managed to escape the narrow alley, the crisis was far from over. 0

The lower the level of the Zombies, the more obsessed they were with blood. Once they tasted fresh blood, they would not let it go, so my chances of escaping were slim. However, it was better than doing nothing and waiting to die. 0

At first, I thought the cramped space could block their attacks, but I was wrong. The open street was even more dangerous. I used drops of blood to alleviate their assault while searching for a suitable place to escape. 0

I definitely couldn't go to the village chief's house. Although there were many people at the back mountain now, including Molin, it would be even worse if innocent people got hurt. 0

Suddenly, I remembered a place that was also the closest to me. 0

Looking back at the two Zombies, they were hot on my heels but also fixated on the blood I had dripped on the ground, giving me enough time to escape. 0

I ran towards home, recalling that there was a long knife in my grandfather's little cabin, and it was silver. 0

I didn't know the differences between Eastern Zombies and Western vampires, but they were both undead. If silver worked against vampires, it might have some effect on Zombies as well. 0

Silverware was rare in this village. My family had a few sets of silver utensils, but the only weapon I could think of that was silver was that knife. I had asked my grandfather before why there was such a knife hanging here; he simply said it was for emergencies. 0

I rushed into the cabin and locked the door behind me. As I hurried to retrieve the knife from the back room, the door behind me was suddenly slammed open. A chill swept through as I drew out the knife without looking back and swung it down, only to be blocked by a strong force. 0

"Anxin, it's me." 0

Struggling against the voice that reached my ears, I recognized Jun Chong's gentle tone. Instantly, I felt as if all my strength had drained away, and my nose tinged with bitterness. "Jun Chong." Just as I called out his name, I saw Widow Wang behind him, her claws poised to attack. "Watch out behind you." 0

Jun Chong immediately pulled me into his embrace and elegantly spun around. A black fireball shot from his fingers and struck her directly as he shielded me and moved aside. 0

“Chirp, chirp.” Widow Wang was engulfed in flames, struggling in pain, yet still advancing towards us. 0

I frowned slightly. I had seen Jun Chong's black fireballs before; those engulfed by them had almost no ability to resist. Yet she remained unfazed. Was it possible that Zombies were different from ghosts? 0

As I pondered this, Jun Chong pulled me to the side. “Stand here and don’t move. She’s being controlled.” 0

“Okay.” 0

I leaned against the window, gripping the knife tightly in my hands. 0

Jun Chong was still wearing human clothing, shielding me in front of him. Suddenly, Widow Wang sprang up, her movements becoming extraordinarily agile and completely different from before. It was evident she was indeed being controlled. 0

Jun Chong's attack failed to land, but he couldn’t fight too far away due to my presence. The confined space restricted our movements. 0

When I noticed the shadow of Midnight on the ground by the doorway, I warned, “Jun Chong, there’s a second one. Be careful.” 0

Just as I finished speaking, Li Fei jumped in as well, moving with the same agility as inside. Widow Wang was on the verge of being burned to a crisp but still stood defiantly. 0

I watched closely, my heart racing, completely oblivious to the possibility of a third Zombie. 0

When something tightened around my neck, my knife fell to the ground. It wasn’t fear that caused it; rather, it was the piercing chill that surged from behind me, wrapping around my throat and chilling me to the core. 0

I instinctively sensed that this one was different from other Zombies. Just as I was about to cry out for help, a mocking voice whispered in my ear, “Go ahead and scream; let me hear how beautiful a woman’s scream can be.” 0

Seeing that I remained silent, he asked again, "Why aren't you calling out? Aren't you afraid of dying?" He extended his hand towards me, his nails dark and glinting with a cold light, while the back of his hand was pale and almost transparent. After a pause, he inquired, "Do you think it's beautiful?" 0

"…" 0

"Don't just stay quiet; let me hear your voice, or—" He pulled me back forcefully, my back hitting the wall by the window, causing a sharp pain. "Or let me have a taste of your blood. It smelled so good the other night! Unfortunately, before I could drink it, you were taken away." 0

"Since you didn't get to drink it then, there's no need now." 0

A pitch-black long sword was pointed at me as Jun Chong glared coldly at the Zombie that had bound me. He had just used some technique to explode two Zombies, their blood and bits of flesh bursting in the small cabin like rain. 0

Jun Chong's Three Thousand Black Strands danced around him as he wielded the long sword. His figure stood tall and imposing, his face darkened just like in that dream. My heart trembled; for some reason, I really didn't want to see this side of Jun Chong. 0

"Hey, don't be angry!" The Zombie raised one hand as a greeting. "You destroyed my Tomb, and I haven't done anything to you. I just thought about getting some compensation in return. Is that too much to ask?" 0

I was stunned; he was the culprit behind it all? 0

"Only she is off-limits." 0

"But I only want her." The Zombie leaned closer to my face, its icy touch sending chills down my spine. I felt uneasy and shivered slightly. 0

Jun Chong's gaze darkened. The Sword Tip flipped the blade's edge; I felt a rush of air sweep towards my face but it didn't harm me. Instead, the Zombie released my face and stepped forward, exuding an overwhelming chill. "Release everyone here and let her go; I might consider sparing your life." 0

"I need to develop my own followers; she cannot be released. And her delicious blood is even more reason to keep her." 0

"Then don't blame me for being rude." 0

Jun Chong's wrist flicked, and I knew he was about to attack. Although I was a hostage, I believed in his abilities and felt no fear. 0

"He's going to kill me, which means you'll get hurt. Aren't you afraid?" 0

Zombie's sudden question caught me off guard, and I laughed. "Not afraid. Even if it’s inevitable, I accept it willingly." 0

For some reason, I sensed a tremor in Jun Chong's sword tip. I couldn't tell if it was the airflow or something else; it all happened so fast that the next moment, it was aimed directly at us. 0

"Let's see then." 0

Zombie suddenly released my neck, and Jun Chong's sword tip veered toward him. But unexpectedly, it was just a feint; he swiftly moved closer to me again. Jun Chong wasn't fooled; his sword remained fierce and relentless. 0

As the sword tip was about to press against Zombie's forehead, I suddenly felt a chilling force that made my body move uncontrollably. When I looked up, the sharp sword tip lunged toward my face. 0

I wanted to move but found myself frozen. Jun Chong realized this too, but his momentum was too strong to stop in time. I knew I couldn't evade it; all I could do was brace myself for impact. 0

"Jun Chong, I don't blame you." 0

I smiled softly and closed my eyes, waiting for death to arrive. 0

"Ah—damn it!" 0

A piercing scream rang in my ears; it was Zombie. As I opened my eyes, I was forcefully pulled into an embrace, my body stiffening as I was held tightly. 0

"Now let's see how you escape." 0

Suddenly, the voice of Chitaki echoed from outside. I poked my head out from Jun Chonghuai and saw a man dressed in black kneeling on the ground, his long black hair cascading down from his shoulders. 0

Red blood dripped from him, and behind him was an arrow. Chitaki stood behind him, holding a longbow with an air of elegance. 0

"Such a carefully laid trap to lure you out; I can't let you escape now." 0

A chill ran through me at the mention of a trap. 0

"Take this!" 0

Chitaki tossed aside the longbow, holding a talisman in hand, murmuring something under his breath. A golden Circle appeared on the ground. 0

The Zombie knelt within that Circle, disregarding its injuries as it attempted to flee. But unexpectedly, a golden net descended from above, blocking its path. 0

I recognized that net; it was the one Molin used against Chu Fan back then. 0

Sure enough, Molin appeared from the other side. "We went to great lengths to draw you into this circle; consider it an honor." 0

Looking at Molin, I realized he was also in the know. 0

Molin and Chitaki stood on either side, chanting the formation together. Suddenly, brilliant light burst forth. I had no idea what kind of formation it was, but the Zombie looked worse for wear. The formation seemed to burn like sunlight, causing blistering reactions on its hands and face. 0

"Heh heh, I wondered why there was such a strange barrier at the village entrance! It only allows entry but not exit—what a waste for me! But in my eagerness to find that scent of blood, I didn't pay attention. I never expected to be outmaneuvered; today marks my downfall." 0

The Zombie suddenly laughed loudly, its laughter bordering on madness. It stopped struggling and bore the pain as its dark eyes suddenly turned toward me. 0

He was actually quite good-looking, with soft features that contrasted sharply against his jet-black hair and overly pale skin. The perfect curve of his chin lifted slightly, hinting at a touch of sensitivity, while his green eyes sparkled like embedded jewels. 0

“Girl, you’ve been played too; I wonder how that feels.” 0

His words made me lower my gaze. I couldn’t look at him because what he said was true. 0

Clenching my fists tightly, I suppressed the bitterness rising in my heart and lifted my head slightly to respond, “It doesn’t feel like anything. When it comes to achieving great things, what does sacrificing myself matter? Even if I were to die today, I wouldn’t utter a word of complaint.” 0

I felt Jun Chong’s grip on me tighten slightly. Despite the bitterness within, I stood tall in front of Zombie. “Chitaki, Molin, he has killed so many people; we absolutely cannot let him go.” 0

“How ruthless, Girl.” He shot me a glare before suddenly bursting into laughter, arms wide open. In an instant, the clouds shifted ominously, rolling in and blocking the sun, casting a shadow over the sky. 0

“This is bad; without sunlight, we’re in trouble.” 0

“You’re still too inexperienced to deal with me.” As his words faded, a silver beam of light descended from the sky, illuminating him. A strange wind swept through, making it hard to keep my eyes open. 0

“Jun Chong, hurry up and take action.” 0

The voice of Chitaki reached me as Jun Chong released me and charged forward. I lost my support and fell to the ground just as Zombie suddenly spoke to me, “Girl, if your heart were as beautiful as you claim, that wouldn’t be so bad. It’s just a pity; we’ll meet again next time.” 0

His words pierced through me like thin needles. I clenched my fists tightly and bit my lip. 0

Blocked by the wall, I couldn’t see how he disappeared, but outside came Molin ’s frustrated voice—most likely indicating failure. 0
