Lin You looked at me in confusion and said, "Of course, you are Anxin."
I couldn't believe it. I took out my phone, opened the selfie mode, and saw a strange yet familiar woman's face on the 5.5-inch screen.
My hands trembled violently. I couldn't accept that this was real. I jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom, where there was a large mirror.
"Anxin, don't be afraid. You must have just seen things."
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and prepared myself before slowly opening them again, hoping that everything was just a mistake on my part.
But when I opened my eyes, the woman in the mirror was smiling brightly at me, her crimson eyes glistening with blood, and an unpleasant taste of blood lingered in the air.
"From now on, I am Gu Anxin. You better look at me through these eyes; Jun Chong is mine."
"No, no—"
"Anxin, what’s wrong with you? Why are you acting so startled?"
Lin You rushed in, her eyes filled with concern.
I grabbed her hands tightly and pointed at the unfamiliar woman in the mirror. "Look at my face and then at the person in the mirror. Are we the same person?"
Lin You looked at me suspiciously, then glanced at my reflection in the mirror before nodding. "It's really you! What happened to you?"
No, I don't believe it!
"Take a closer look. Who am I?"
"You are Gu Anxin." Lin You reached out and touched my forehead, growing more worried. "I think you must have gotten a concussion from that ball. Wait here, I'll make a call, and we should go to the hospital for a check-up."
"No, I'm not going."
I pushed Lin You away and ran outside just as the teacher from the infirmary returned. I took my student ID from my pocket, pointed at the photo on it, and then pointed at my face, asking, "Teacher, do I look like the person in this photo?"
She looked at me doubtfully for a moment before nodding. "Yes, what's wrong?"
"Haha, it's nothing, teacher! She's just joking! We'll be on our way now. Thank you!"
Lin You grabbed me as I was about to lose it and pulled me outside.
At that moment, I felt a chilling sensation all over my body. Lin You was babbling in my ear, but I didn't hear a word; I only felt my body becoming lighter and gradually sinking down.
The surrounding light vanished at that instant, leaving only a small glimmer ahead that allowed me to see outside, like someone trapped inside who could only glimpse the world through a tiny crack.
When I finally processed this sense of falling, I found myself in a pitch-black place where I couldn't see my own hand in front of my face.
"What is this place?"
"This is the inside of your body. Thank you so much for having such a wonderful body!"
I had read in a novel before that when two souls exist within a body, the weaker one would be locked away, yet it could still see everything happening outside while being fully awake, just like I am now.
Panic, fear, and unease surged through me, making it impossible to sit still. I ran recklessly into the depths of darkness.
But no matter how long or how far I ran, when I turned back, I found myself still in the same place. I could still see through that faint light what the "me" outside was doing.
"Let me out, let me out."
"Hey, that's never going to happen. Everything about you will belong to me, ha ha..."
